Every straight or angled shaft is an elevator or tram way no packs to It. Miners are smart and do not do anything the hard way.
I have the most respect for anyone willing to go in small tight places underground for gold! Too scary for me. Great video Jeff, film crew and everyone who participated in the video!

I hope someone rescues the dynamite boxes and the older tools that hav3 been there since the beginning of that mine. That stuff is really important to the future of mining. It would give the newer miners an indication of what the old timers went through all for gold.

Awesome mine tour and explanations if what the miners were doing and thinking. Great friends.
My brother was a geologist in south Dakota and in the early 80s I got to go inside the Gilt edge mine before they turned it into an open pit it was just as it was left in the 1800s I was standing in front of an old ore chute and my brother said he doesn't like standing there because of the 100 year old lumber that was holding back all the rock unfortunately after that I couldn't wait to get out of there, there was also an old stamp mill and some old buildings with a huge compressor old picks shovels ore cars and track the original shaft went down around 400'.
Great story! Love old workings like that. It's rare to find all the artifacts.

Those tongue and groove wood Hercules Dynamite boxes are pretty scarce. The law required miners to destroy the empty cases. Nitro soaked wood burns real good.

Another awesome adventure, the journey to the center of the earth. One heck of a rappel, not for the faint of heart. Wonderful to see the old artifacts from back in the day. It really looked like a lot of work just to navigate those long descents and ascents, especially with heavy packs. And there still is gold in them there hills, yea!!

The length of the holes change depending on the size of round you pull, depending if you’re using a jumbo or jack leg, bonus, or ground type

When I watch mine explorers I often see them pass extremely significant geological features. Most of them guys are totally clueless.
Without the geology they are just exploring holes.

that level looks like the bottom of the Leessor mine .....fresh coming in but could not find the shaft
@@Askjeffwilliams That's what it looked like to me. Where you 1st showed the little "stope" on the level you went in on you were standing on a pile. Under that pile,under the track is where the old-timer told me they intercepted another vein. I'm assuming that the guys that were working that later went up. He told me it was like a thumb of a hand and they cut thru it. That stope thats now open there at the end of the switch in the rail used to be solid. Just a little hole down close to the bottom of that drift. Now I see it's all open,and they punched thru to the old stope.Once again he wasn't listening to the old-timer. What a dufas.I'm assuming you made it to the bottom. Carl did say they were never finished out there. Had a big fire down at the mill. The war act.Etc.
Such a shame to see the "Ruth" in such disrepair. None of that rail was pulled.All the pipe was still hanging. No #*!tires or beer bottles. Looks like someone went in and "raped" the ole gal.I know what I know and they didn't listen.Good to see it's in the hands of somebody that'll respect the old gal.What a bunch of slobs. Later I heard they got busted for making meth,at anothermine down the hill.Great video,glad you got it.May all your days be Golden.

Wow, great video. Some of those tight and wide open spaces though, kudos to all of you brave guys and gals. I loved the relics but especially loved the mine in general. I can't get over how deep that place is. 👍 I took a stroll down to the creek, saw my old trailing piles from last March. Dug around one specific area found old rusty square nails, no gold though. 🤔

That's some mighty good looking ore !! It's everywhere ! I'm drooling just lookin at it. Lol !! Gold was about $250/oz back in late 70's. So if they were mining it back then, it had to be good stuff.. Can you imaging what that stope pile might be worth today ? They did all the hard work. Just gotta muck it out. Hope you took samples. I’ve been around lot of these old mines. We’ve lowered ur guy down one of these as well and let me tell ya it was nerve racking not knowing what we were lowering him into although he was 50 some years experience and volunteered to go down still so scary ,but also found a hole with ladder took us down about 500 feet also finding a box of old dynamite this property is in Nevada

You can not believe how heavy Kristopher and Max's backpacks were! I try to keep my pack weight down but with water and a rock hammer is starts to add up. I'm also hauling rope up and down the shaft for rigging the safety lines. It's a workout!

Thanks for the nice job explaining the drill pattern and strategy on the working face. Quite often I see mucking plates with holes in them like they were also used to contain the flyrock from the shot. Is that correct? I think I would rig a temporary haul line up that shaft until you get a proper winch. Fun video, Jeff.
fly rock would often punch holes in them ......if the charges are set with the right delays then the last charge should lift it nicely onto the muck sheet
