Picking a bouquet from the recipient's garden is just politely killing their flowers
That's BRILLIANT!!!! so true!
@@VivsGreen haha thanks so much! Love the channel btw! Has gotten me really interested in opera!
Hmm aside from the fact that Mephistophele is in fact the Devil, it makes sense that he would torment Marguerite to possibly get her to sin again and turn away from God and take her soul. I mean the more souls condemned to Hell would be more souls to mock God with. But narratively it fits as a way to show that despite her suffering, Marguerite was still devoted to God. So much so that despite the fact that she did sin she still went to Heaven anyway. While Faust decided to call upon the Devil to achieve the love of a woman and turn his back on God only to be condemned to Hell for his trouble.
The crazy part is assuming Faust was a decent person and devoted to God before he met the Devil, he could've also went to Heaven by simply dying of old age. But instead he went through so much trouble just to end up with a fate worse than death.
Dear Avi, This is an outstanding video. After having seen this, I went to the opera in Copenhagen to watch Faust - my first opera experience (I am 58 year but until now I have found operas difficult). It was very easy to follow the action on the scene after having watched your synopsis - otherwise I would have been lost. I enjoyed the show a lot and this will surely not be my the last visit to the opera. Thank you SO much for helping me with this late start; please keep up your excellent work and all best wishes for your career. Hope to see you in an opera someday.
Best opera recap ever. Learned a ton with a smile
Thank you so much!! ❤️ you gotta do everything with a smile! Especially these days! 😊
One of my favourite operas, which I discovered reading Le Fantome de l'opéra. (I must be one of the very few people of my generation who must have discovered the novel before the musical). I genuinely think it has one of the best lines in an opera.
YESSS Avi The Opera Synopsis are back!!, im here for it also yessss rosie!! brilliant illustrations Petition for you to do L'elisir d'amore next xxx keep up the great work!
L’elisir is on the list! Yeah! It’s been too long since I’ve done one of these great to be back at it!
@@VivsGreen well you did a brilliant job girly! xx
When I was living in Leeds I watched Faust in English and with no surtitles! It was sooo hard... the only thing I could understand was when they sang Margueriteee 😄 Thank you for explaining the story! Ow, I loved this format (dialogue + pictures).

@@VivsGreen ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love your synopses! :)
In the opera's first version, Faust has a Bacchic Song ("Doux nectar en ton ivresse"), which was to replace the Walpurgis Ballet sequence or...? I'm sorry, I'm not sure I yet understand the dynamics of the alternativa\additional numbers in this opera
At least it hasn't got the 'yo she's already 14' bit from the original play, and Faust seems to be a better person in general.
Faust 😍
You Are So Great At This..Love The Wine Prop?
Thank you so much Gad! ♥️ Hahaha! It was very needed 😂
This was wonderful but why is Marguerite in jail? Did I miss something?
Have you done Trovatore yet? It's Iconic XD
Yes I have almost 2 and half years ago!

You're surprised the the devil isn't entirely fair in his dealings with people? Spoiler alert: he's evil.
Hahaha! very true. I guess I just always want to see the good side in people (or demons)
That music in the background is anoying :(
