Windows 8.1 is finally spreading to the masses, but as we approach ever so closer to that crucial busy holiday time frame, we're bound to see manufacturers competing against with one another on a more aggressive manner. Taiwanese company Asus is a familiar staple in the Windows front, having been a major player last year when Microsoft rolled out its long awaited new desktop OS. I've had my T100 for almost a year and a half now, and I can say it's worth every penny I spent for it. I bought it so that I could have something to bring to school; my main laptop is heavy and has a really short battery life. Its performance is amazing. I can browse on chrome, work on my word files and have multiple pdf files open and it still works flawlessly (provided the battery level is 15% or higher). 10/10 would recommend.

This has got to be one of the best tech values besides the Nexus 5 and Nokia 520. Fro $350-400, you get a FULL FEATURED 10 inch Windows 8 tablet that comes with a keyboard dock! Tablet one second, netbook the other! Its a fantastic device that gets 5 stars for its superb value alone!

I'm thinking of getting this, and i have a few questions
Well i'm a student so i'd firstly just like to make sure it runs effectively and smoothly for things such as Open Office Text documents as well as Multimedia Documents and of course, Windows Slideshows (for presentations)
Also, is this a good hybrid to use for things such as facebook, emails, youtube and etc?

Specifications are not what I had in mind. Does it run well, is it easy to handle, how does it compare to the specs, etc, etc. If I wanted a review of this kind, I could have looked up at a billboard.

Probably a daft question, but can the keyboard be "flipped" so when you're using the device as a tablet it's "stored" on the back of the tablet (if that makes sense)? I think the MS surface ones do that, and I suspect this one won't but if you could confirm one way or the other that'd be great. Thanks.
Can this handle some photo editing in Photoshop? Also, I'm thinking of playing some games like Sims 4, and was wondering if it will run smoothly in this hybrid.
The T100 looks like a really nice device. I'd get it over the iPad and Nexus 10 any day, since I would want to use a tablet to actually do work, rather than browse Facebook and web browsing. If they added a better T100 model in the future with a more powerful processor, better display, and an improved build quality, it would definitely be a must-by.
Could I connect my hard drive to this and watch my movies that I have stored on my hard drive?
Does it support external drawing devices like Wacom tablets
Due to memory constraints, if i install XP or 7 on this, does the tablet touch screen still work? also do i need drivers like a reg laptop to make this work after install the OS? I got a 32GB one so Win 10 fully loaded isnt possible.

I was using this device for about 2 and a half years and the keyboard dock broke. Some keys doesn't work anymore. I now only use the screen thingy as a Windows 8.1 Tablet

Its a full windows 8.1 tablet.. So it can do anything a budget laptop / netbook can do..

plus u can run androidx86 on it and u would get asus transformer pad which runs android and windows 8.1 on just one tablet /pc.

X86 Desktop Apps aren't "Legacy Software" especially not when Microsoft themselves still make Desktop Apps like Office. Desktop and Windows Store Apps are different. Windows Store Apps never EVER was suppose to replace Desktop Apps. Stuff like Skype is for giving people a choice in how they use their computer (more as a laptop or more as a tablet). The "Tablet Assumption" is really old by now, stop pushing the notion that Tablets are the future of PCs, they aren't. They are a part of it, not all of it.
The keyboard needs a replaceable battery and replaceable drive bay. Even if the battery bay and drive bay was empty it would make this a better sell for expansions. Also easy replaceable drive and battery for the tablet would be good but i don't expect it to ever happen.

Ignore all the annoying comments lol. Minecraft works well on it, but it's not the best gaming computer in my opinion. I would put in a little more money to get a better quality computer that has better graphics for gaming and streaming videos!

i believe t100 will be a much better choice as it is having a full window 8.1 instead of windows rt, and fyi, a newer version t100 chi is coming out very soon, you might want to wait for that :)

This cannot replace your main pc unless your main pc is slower than this :)
I've heard a lot of bad things about it's build quality including a faulty keyboard, fragile cracked (can be easily cracked), micro SD Card insertion problems, keyboard connectivity issues and other stuff. I have a seven year old Acer D250 which is still running (i'm using it now) and the only hardware issue has been a broken wifi card.
I would like to know whether or not these really are small isolated problems. I don't want to feel like a victim of planned obsolescence.
Yea it looks nice but once you have it for a week problems comes in.. Touch screen stopped working and the top part seems to start opening up on its own i dont recommend it at all

counterstrike source runs ok and gmod crashes often but decent framerates if ur not in a highly detailed map.

Hi! I have my asus t100 since i was at 8th grade probably 2014 and still have it now 🤣 it’s actually a mess rn bc the lcd/screen was cracked and the keys are missing and some aren’t functioning, but overall i can still use it up to this day 😂 I haven’t thought about getting it fixed but now i think i might need to fix 😂

Get the ASUS, it comes with full Win8.1 instead of the gimped-down RT. You're also getting Office Home & Student, and a keyboard along with it. It's a really good deal. The Surface RT really isn't that great.

i am actually trying to sell my surface rt 2 to get this t100, it is really not much your can say, full 8.1 (altho it is 32bit, still win by a lot) vs rt... but if you are looking for higher processing power, i recommand surface pro 1, it is freaking on sale (64GB even come with touch cover), if you can handle the sucky battery on it

You're only able to get apps from the windows store on the surface while your able to get the from anywhere on the t100.
This or the HP Pavillion 10 X2?
The HP has a better display, front facing speakers, a better touch-pad, pen support, and better look.
However, this one has longer battery life (1-2 hours more), a higher resolution, and the keyboard doesn't scratch the display, and 32GB more storage.

I have seen people get ubuntu running on the t100 but its not stable (lots of problems)
I own the t100 and i must say that windows 8.1 is actually incredibly lightweight

i keep my t100 100% up to date (windows update and asus live update) and it boots just fine, try leaving the tablet to discharge for a bit, then plug it in and try to boot it.
I bought one of these the other day and after charging it for the reccommended 8 hours it still wont turn on. Instead, the power light flashes orange every couple of seconds when plugged in. anyone able to help me figure out what's going on?
May be a defective battery. I'd return it if I were you.

Gia Gonzalez No it is quite good as a laptop as well (i bought it for school myself and i actually find myself using it a fair amount at home as well even though i have a much more powerful desktop)
I must say though the 2gb ram is the most limiting factor so if your planing to do any multimedia courses at school i would look for something else.

Is this tablet not capable of downloading apps like clash of clans or racing rivals
It is more a school tablet, I use it for doing word documents and powerpoints and it does it well. But in terms of apps and games it doesn't have many. If you are looking for a tablet that is closer to a computer than this is the tablet to get but it doesn't have much space either. I have a 64GB model and after installing all my software and tools for class I have 8gb's free for whatever is left. I'd recommend looking at another tablet for apps. But in terms of a mini computer, it's fast and extremely portable compared to a laptop. Worth it for school, but not worth it for games and apps.Also clash of clans and racing rivals are not in the Microsoft App Store
