They added a warning when artillary is locked on you. Being a 7 year player I play aggressive and often artillary punish front line tanks making me a high target. The new warning feature when artillary is locked onto you is extremely helpful.. I usually have an idea when arty is locked onto me from experience but seeing the warning sign actually makes me want to move away.. this surprised me how effective the warning was.
I get that it can be helpful given situations... But when there are multiple arty and you are a heavy tank fighting the heavy flank your usually stuck into the fight.... And how is it completely helpful if you can't get away at all given the rediculous buffs arty received

@@brianbrian5842 in 8 years of playing ive never seen a large group of people ask for arty buffs. Never seen arty players complain that doing 3k damage from base wasnt fun or felt like arty was bad. Ive seen people asking for nerfs all that time though
I play artillery sometimes and I do find it a fun change from running around in a light or slogging in a heavy. So far, from both sides of the aiming circle, seems fine. I’ll play more this weekend and we’ll see how I feel about it.
@@justing8313 Going the "pure" nerf route was never gonna work. Neutering a class bc folks don't want to play the game as intended is where the problem lies. There's a plethora of solutions for the community to utilize vs "nerf it to the ground". I don't see a majority of players wanting less instead of more.

A minority group might complain because they dont understand mechanics but most do and they bring legitimate criticism to the table: arty influence battles too much, they are supposed to support not be top damage dealers 3. You must not have ventured the forums or the discord now very often if you dont see many people putting forth complaints about arty And as a sidenote I ask anyone to go and look at the stats and see for yourself how arty currently fits into the game, youll see many arty have higher winrates and avg damage per game compared to many of the other tanks in their same tier
The grind for my T-95 is now impossible. I can't even get to cover without losing half of my hit points. All the enemies arty aims for me. I have aged 20yrs....
Did anyone think that the changes to arty was to get more players to move to CW ? If you infest the battlefield with Artillery shells I think it would cause players to have second thoughts on playing WWII. Working as programed?
Arty hits some times for minimal damage, and misses some shots. . I've never ever had a missile miss me or hit for less than 1k hit points. I hate missile players more than arty so I won't go to the darkside
Yes, I've thought that for about a year now, Wargaming seems hell bent on destroying WWII mode. Bad news for them, they make that mode unplayable, and I'll just take my ball and go home.
What they should have done is to make changes that force arty players to think. All they really had to do IMO is to flatten the shell trajectory significantly, moderately buff HP, and make it so that they could only see enemies that are within their view range. Essentially, turn them into TD's that can shoot over small obstacles. It would keep them from sitting at the back of the map, force them to stick with teammates, learn map positions for cover/concealment, and reward knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the enemy tanks.
The FV304 had always reloaded that fast. They just reverted the nerfs from a few years ago. Btw, the BC 155 58 has been neutered with the ridiculous intraclip reload being so long.

I almost hit all my shots finally got good damage 4 kills. And with the artillery alert I'm not getting hit as often because I know artillery is targeting me. Before hand I found artillery a nightmare to play lucky if I got a kill let alone hit multiple targets. They are definitely strong now but before hand they weren't very fun to play.
Counter battery is easier now with faster reloads and larger shell tracers, you can usually find the enemy arty within the first minute of the battle 😀

Now skilled arty players can not help the heavy flank make good push plays through pincer locations
If you're not playing artillery, that's a very big loss for you. Artillery is a lot of fun and also not playing artillery, you don't learn how to easily avoid it.
I dont even know what to say anymore… The sad thing is that yes these changes are bad, but they’re not bad enough to make the majority quit. Until wargaming screws up so royally that we all somehow quit the game, we’re still gonna be playing and they’re going to continue to ignore the player base and make us their Guinea pigs.

Artillery only player here. I liked the one arty per match better. These new changes were needed for arty. Either this or reduce lights speed by 40% or more. IMO
I'll tell you what we should do, but it won't happen. At the beginning of every battle, we should have a gentleman's agreement that both teams hold position and allow the other team's lights to come over and kill their articowards. Then, before anyone else moves, the lights move back to their spawn, and the battle continues like normal. That's how you get rid of the cowards, whether Wargaming wants it or not.
@Barry Rigel no, they need to increase the speed and/or power to weight ratio of lights. They also need to increase the hit points of lights so they can't be one shot by cowards. Plus, they need to increase the alpha of lights to compensate for the increased hp of the cowards.

I played today and in several games arty was in the top 3, now I really hate artillery and there players. So they really need to need balance the armor on all of the other tank classes? Maybe buff armor 300%?
I don't mind the hp increase, it's funny to see the arty shotgun the YOLO lights. However that increase to the rate of fire buff was a typical WG dumb idea.

I miss playable artillery. I'm an arty main on PC and it's been made completely useless. might jump over to the console and experience the good old days again.
It's going to force people to use speed mods so you can relocate to better positions to not get hit. They should use the regular world of tanks pc maps which have more cover. The maps they made are horrible it benefits artillery.
They should of reduced he damage like in the pc. So that tier 8,9,10, vs heavy tanks are only doing like 200 to 300 a shot. That will teach the arty trolls.

here's my 2 cents with the update, how it's going to shake down ... - arty fires faster, less effective per shot, major nerf to splash, needs extended playtime to rack up dmg - players will become increasingly skittish when lit up that arty is targeting them causing skittish gameplay as well as lots of missed arty shots. This also leads to new tactics to shape gameplay, like I will hover over targeted tanks/players and cause them to move out of position or alter their shot angles against my teammates etc ... - the big thing is: high tier arty will eat silver, will be very expensive to run. More shots = more silver expenditure. - previously, players would go full prem because of splash and to maximize performance because every shot counts. With reduced splash and skittish gameplay, silver expenditures are through the roof now which will eventually alter gameplay in the future. It will be expensive to run Conq GCs, T92s, GWE 100s etc ... especially for not so good players that don't earn silver well. - this will keep pushing prem tank play/prem time for people to keep their silver reserves in the positive. For example I ran the GWE100 and did ~ 4k dmg. I'm a decent player (2 marked the GWE) and running a prem account my game was a negative 100k silver loss. I predict that arty play will dwindle significantly because of this. So, you guys get your wish ... eventually. - I think that most people just focus on the negative QoL aspects that affect them like: wtf arty have so many hp?! why do they fire so fast!? There's 3 arty per team, oh noes! - more hp means more hp to farm. that's a good thing. Fast firing but less dmg output means mainly serious annoyance but less lethal unless you just sit still all the time. 3 arty will not be a thing much longer if the cost to play is too high. my credentials are 3 marked M53/55 plus others. I know what i'm doing in arty.

Yet again wargaming take something that was already op and made it more op. They should have done a base 40% damage reduction to all Artys and called it a day.
I'm a bit late, but I will throw wargaimg a bone. Lower the DPM or massively lower the accuracy. A "tank" that can reliably hit an enemy from 1 minute into a game to the end has a very high damage output. Any good player will fire near reload and rack up crazy damage totals. In a 10minute game arty is often first on the team by damage.
Guess they don’t want people to play the game or spend money on it. Because I won’t be will just play a tiny bit of Cold War just to make sure my skills don’t get rusty.
Ive been one shotted more times by arty in the last 2 days in a medium than the 5 years preceding the update. And to top it off you can't one shot them in return, bloody buggers!
So I'm just now getting back into World of Tanks after a three-year hiatus. It seems like after this update I've noticed hardly any artillery anymore whereas before it was artillery every single match. I'm guessing the new artillery warning is what did it in for most of the scumbags playing artillery. And I did notice that the artillery had more health took more shots to kill them. Other than that I am quite pleased to not see them every single match anymore

Honestly the Artillery Rebalance really isn't bad the fact that Damage has been reduced by 30-50% which limits Not only Artys ability to 1 shot but additionally has a massive impact on Splash (basically now you need to direct hit) thank god you dont have 212As dealing 600 Splash on a near hit any more is generally a positive change. Though of Couse to offset this and to try and keep arty effective WG of Couse had to increase performance in other areas and even with the accuracy buffs your shells are still heavily dependent on RNG. I will agree the Hit point buff was dumb And well Tier 6 Arty has always been the most OP there is no changing that but you got to remember the BERT has super limited range and Pre-Rebalance would only hit most targets for like 1-200 on a direct hit any way and needed to Hit a perfect hit on the Top Deck to do the Full 450 which means staying as close to your Max gun range as possible which in inherently diminishes accuracy. Now with the DMG reductions the Bert you are less likely to do even 100 Avg dmg especially against Tier 8HTs and its more likely your HE will just get absorbed because the DMG and Splash is to low to impact the armour of something like an IS3 for instance . The same goes for a lot of tanks as the Turret Roof armour on loads of vehicles was massively buffed like a year ago anyway. For me it nice that I can Actually Play HTs and Slow Super Heavy TDs without really having to worry about Arty and its overall impact as Artillery is not basically only hitting for Medium Tank Alpha Damage in their given tiers. Yes the Bert's and More annoying because of the frequency that they can fire at you but they are super ineffectual these days because of the changes. I think the only thing WG needs to do at this point it limit Arty 1 per game and maybe look at doing something about the HEAT rounds on the M44 and M41 because the fact they still have the same damage output of the HE which is still dumb or just Removing AP and HEAT shells in general from SPGS . and Reduce the Health increase quite a bit and it will be fine. But honestly Artillery is probably in the best State it could possibly be in and I guess it was either leave it alone. What they have done this update or just do What PC did and I guess its either this or Stun Mechanics so your Doomed not matter which way you look at it.

They could fix this by just lowering the shell arc of arty. That would artificially create more cover, force arty to relocate more often, and would give non-arty a break.
Here's what I see happening. First, the Arty will have a field day for about a week. By the second week, Folks will dust off their light tanks and make SPG's run for cover. By the third week, the mediums will come out to counter the lights and finally the heavies will be able to crawl out from under the rocks they have been hiding under for about a month. rinse and repeat. Seems like every time they change arty this cycle happens. I bet Wot even comes out with a premium light tank....oh wait, they just did!

Played a few games in low tier KV. Reds had 2 player platoon in m44s. Get tragetted forget it. You cannot move quick enough plus firing so fast. I can also see by the time you get to arties after fighting your way to them your likely to be on low hp and against a high hp arty that fires as quick as you. Great. Back to Cold War mode.
This is exactly why I mostly play cold war. Still love ww2 game mode but arty does get frustrating. Especially if you aren't running around in a light tank.
I feel like someone in wargaming WANTS to kill the game. Between the fast auto loading/derpy light tanks and the arty, I've pretty much sold all my slow heavys and TD. That vast majority of my game time is in cold war now.
T5 Brit Arty is the same as T6. Only T6 is faster. That's it. Can still only shoot 4-5 tiles. Other Arty can shoot 10 tiles at same level and they get stun as well.
I cannot get behind the complaints that artillery got buffed. It needed it. How many premium artillery tanks are there? Not enough. The most despised class got nerfed long ago. This is going to be fun again playing an artillery.
In several games I was the first one to get spotted by the enemy team (thats how I play...I´m always going to push) and got killed by three artillery hits of each arty in the game...this is really annoying, because I only have two options, change my style of playing the game, or get clobbered by these OP arty-players...THX WG👎👎👎
If you’re always the one being spotted first chances are that before you were also the first one being hit by artillery for a one shot kill. Perhaps you should change the way you play. You can be aggressive without being suicidal.
As soon as they nerf lights as far as their speed, and some of the higher tiers that have super speed and monster alpha, then consider nerfing arty, again. This makes it harder for lights to Yolo you and get a quick kill. As an arty player I like that, don't like having to 2 and even 3 shot tanks I could destroy with 1 shot before.
That's the point of the alpha nerf you shouldn't be able to 1 tap heavies with BS alpha no TD can 1 tap a full HP Heavy. So why should a border huger be a exception.

I've been playing arty whenever i come back to W.O.T I've done some wild stuff with these fast reloading artys. I always go for engines and ammo boxes. The fire and explosive combos shore up the penetration limits
Been playing tanks since the beginning, and never been a fan of the no skill click boxes....... opps I mean arty, but there is a easy fix. Have a option in to have server games with arty and without, and if arty players moan they can't get games then tuff poop. To have a option to play ww2 mode without arty would be good. It's a reason why I play cold war mode more now.
Here's my updated opinion about the arty changes. - some arty had their performance ceiling reduced despite their perceived "buffs". Like the '58. Intraclip is really bad and the average DMG on a non pen can hover around 55-60dmg per shot. Not good. - the tiering has changed. The '58 has overall been nerfed and the gwe 100 has probably now taken the right spot at the top. - I'm surprised at the lack of hate mail overall given the constant slapping. - getting marks of excellence is easier now IMO because when you turn something into a grind the poor and less skilled players will remain mediocre giving you room to gain moes.
Why did they increase it to 3 of the these annoying mosquitoes as well with decrease loading times the arty warning protection system is pretty much pointless. It would be a great addition if less of them.

Prior to arty 2.0 I was literally saying WG should just buff the accuracy of them and nerf the dmg to compensate.....which they did, great. Yet even I as an arty player, cannot agree with how far they have gone with these changes. They say they've tried 1 arty per game and it's back to 3 now.......do they not realise there is a number in between those that they haven't tried? I cannot understand why they touched the reload at all, I agree this is just stupid as it gives every arty-hating keyboard warrior free fuel to carry on being toxic. Also for those curious, the Equilizer is the most accurate arty in the game. .46 accuracy on 930 upon pen. That's base Soviet heavy tank accuracy lol
My obj 261 has .45 accuracy for 1000 on a penning shot.

The FV304 had always reloaded that fast. They just reverted the nerfs from a few years ago. Btw, the BC 155 58 has been neutered with the ridiculous intraclip reload being so long.

I’ve been seeing way more artillery actually pushing flanks now... crazy what you can do with more hp.
A lot of British arty doesn’t have much range so they tend to stay closer to the front.
I always thought the hit points were too low. Now, they can survive longer when they get yolo’d by a light at the beginning of the game.
A very welcomed change. Now certain arty can be and do more.
I enjoy it because I don’t feel like I’m wasting a shell in my Death Star.

I almost hit all my shots finally got good damage 4 kills. And with the artillery alert I'm not getting hit as often because I know artillery is targeting me. Before hand I found artillery a nightmare to play lucky if I got a kill let alone hit multiple targets. They are definitely strong now but before hand they weren't very fun to play.

Counter battery is easier now with faster reloads and larger shell tracers, you can usually find the enemy arty within the first minute of the battle 😀

Did you even consider that arty has always been a hard counter for the heavy flank and now is an even harder counter? Now skilled arty players can not help the heavy flank make good push plays through pincer locations

The sad thing is that yes these changes are bad, but they’re not bad enough to make the majority quit. Until wargaming screws up so royally that we all somehow quit the game, we’re still gonna be playing and they’re going to continue to ignore the player base and make us their Guinea pigs.

Artillery only player here. I liked the one arty per match better. These new changes were needed for arty. Either this or reduce lights speed by 40% or more. IMO
I'll tell you what we should do, but it won't happen. At the beginning of every battle, we should have a gentleman's agreement that both teams hold position and allow the other team's lights to come over and kill their articowards. Then, before anyone else moves, the lights move back to their spawn, and the battle continues like normal. That's how you get rid of the cowards, whether Wargaming wants it or not.
@Barry Rigel no, they need to increase the speed and/or power to weight ratio of lights. They also need to increase the hit points of lights so they can't be one shot by cowards. Plus, they need to increase the alpha of lights to compensate for the increased hp of the cowards.

I don't mind the hp increase, it's funny to see the arty shotgun the YOLO lights. However that increase to the rate of fire buff was a typical WG dumb idea.
I checked 261 can do 12 seconds. any slow heavy basically has no chance of making it out alive while crossing. even I was disgusted while testing it

It's going to force people to use speed mods so you can relocate to better positions to not get hit. They should use the regular world of tanks pc maps which have more cover. The maps they made are horrible it benefits artillery.

They should of reduced he damage like in the pc. So that tier 8,9,10, vs heavy tanks are only doing like 200 to 300 a shot. That will teach the arty trolls.

here's my 2 cents with the update, how it's going to shake down ...
- arty fires faster, less effective per shot, major nerf to splash, needs extended playtime to rack up dmg
- players will become increasingly skittish when lit up that arty is targeting them causing skittish gameplay as well as lots of missed arty shots. This also leads to new tactics to shape gameplay, like I will hover over targeted tanks/players and cause them to move out of position or alter their shot angles against my teammates etc ...
- the big thing is: high tier arty will eat silver, will be very expensive to run. More shots = more silver expenditure.
- previously, players would go full prem because of splash and to maximize performance because every shot counts. With reduced splash and skittish gameplay, silver expenditures are through the roof now which will eventually alter gameplay in the future. It will be expensive to run Conq GCs, T92s, GWE 100s etc ... especially for not so good players that don't earn silver well.
- this will keep pushing prem tank play/prem time for people to keep their silver reserves in the positive. For example I ran the GWE100 and did ~ 4k dmg. I'm a decent player (2 marked the GWE) and running a prem account my game was a negative 100k silver loss. I predict that arty play will dwindle significantly because of this. So, you guys get your wish ... eventually.
- I think that most people just focus on the negative QoL aspects that affect them like: wtf arty have so many hp?! why do they fire so fast!? There's 3 arty per team, oh noes!
- more hp means more hp to farm. that's a good thing. Fast firing but less dmg output means mainly serious annoyance but less lethal unless you just sit still all the time. 3 arty will not be a thing much longer if the cost to play is too high.
my credentials are 3 marked M53/55 plus others. I know what i'm doing in arty.

I'm a bit late, but I will throw wargaimg a bone. Lower the DPM or massively lower the accuracy. A "tank" that can reliably hit an enemy from 1 minute into a game to the end has a very high damage output. Any good player will fire near reload and rack up crazy damage totals. In a 10minute game arty is often first on the team by damage.
Guess they don’t want people to play the game or spend money on it. Because I won’t be will just play a tiny bit of Cold War just to make sure my skills don’t get rusty.
Ive been one shotted more times by arty in the last 2 days in a medium than the 5 years preceding the update. And to top it off you can't one shot them in return, bloody buggers!

So I'm just now getting back into World of Tanks after a three-year hiatus. It seems like after this update I've noticed hardly any artillery anymore whereas before it was artillery every single match. I'm guessing the new artillery warning is what did it in for most of the scumbags playing artillery. And I did notice that the artillery had more health took more shots to kill them. Other than that I am quite pleased to not see them every single match anymore

Artillery has come a long way to be honest it took forever to fire up shots not to mention accuracy
Honestly the Artillery Rebalance really isn't bad the fact that Damage has been reduced by 30-50% which limits Not only Artys ability to 1 shot but additionally has a massive impact on Splash (basically now you need to direct hit) thank god you dont have 212As dealing 600 Splash on a near hit any more is generally a positive change. Though of Couse to offset this and to try and keep arty effective WG of Couse had to increase performance in other areas and even with the accuracy buffs your shells are still heavily dependent on RNG.
I will agree the Hit point buff was dumb
And well Tier 6 Arty has always been the most OP there is no changing that but you got to remember the BERT has super limited range and Pre-Rebalance would only hit most targets for like 1-200 on a direct hit any way and needed to Hit a perfect hit on the Top Deck to do the Full 450 which means staying as close to your Max gun range as possible which in inherently diminishes accuracy.
Now with the DMG reductions the Bert you are less likely to do even 100 Avg dmg especially against Tier 8HTs and its more likely your HE will just get absorbed because the DMG and Splash is to low to impact the armour of something like an IS3 for instance .
The same goes for a lot of tanks as the Turret Roof armour on loads of vehicles was massively buffed like a year ago anyway.
For me it nice that I can Actually Play HTs and Slow Super Heavy TDs without really having to worry about Arty and its overall impact as Artillery is not basically only hitting for Medium Tank Alpha Damage in their given tiers.
Yes the Bert's and More annoying because of the frequency that they can fire at you but they are super ineffectual these days because of the changes.
I think the only thing WG needs to do at this point it limit Arty 1 per game and maybe look at doing something about the HEAT rounds on the M44 and M41 because the fact they still have the same damage output of the HE which is still dumb or just Removing AP and HEAT shells in general from SPGS . and Reduce the Health increase quite a bit and it will be fine.
But honestly Artillery is probably in the best State it could possibly be in and I guess it was either leave it alone. What they have done this update or just do What PC did and I guess its either this or Stun Mechanics so your Doomed not matter which way you look at it.

It should encourage moving, but if you sit still, only a matter of time before the “propelled” part of the SPG moves it to a better firing position.
They could fix this by just lowering the shell arc of arty. That would artificially create more cover, force arty to relocate more often, and would give non-arty a break.
Here's what I see happening. First, the Arty will have a field day for about a week. By the second week, Folks will dust off their light tanks and make SPG's run for cover. By the third week, the mediums will come out to counter the lights and finally the heavies will be able to crawl out from under the rocks they have been hiding under for about a month. rinse and repeat.
Seems like every time they change arty this cycle happens. I bet Wot even comes out with a premium light tank....oh wait, they just did!

Played a few games in low tier KV. Reds had 2 player platoon in m44s.
Get tragetted forget it. You cannot move quick enough plus firing so fast.
I can also see by the time you get to arties after fighting your way to them your likely to be on low hp and against a high hp arty that fires as quick as you. Great. Back to Cold War mode.
One year has passed and the changes are still here, it's painful when a good player plays arty because u can't avoid damage if they want to damage you

This is exactly why I mostly play cold war. Still love ww2 game mode but arty does get frustrating. Especially if you aren't running around in a light tank.

Between the fast auto loading/derpy light tanks and the arty, I've pretty much sold all my slow heavys and TD.
That vast majority of my game time is in cold war now.
T5 Brit Arty is the same as T6. Only T6 is faster. That's it. Can still only shoot 4-5 tiles. Other Arty can shoot 10 tiles at same level and they get stun as well.
It's now 4 in co op lmao
I cannot get behind the complaints that artillery got buffed. It needed it. How many premium artillery tanks are there? Not enough. The most despised class got nerfed long ago. This is going to be fun again playing an artillery.
In several games I was the first one to get spotted by the enemy team (thats how I play...I´m always going to push) and got killed by three artillery hits of each arty in the game...this is really annoying, because I only have two options, change my style of playing the game, or get clobbered by these OP arty-players...THX WG👎👎👎
If you’re always the one being spotted first chances are that before you were also the first one being hit by artillery for a one shot kill. Perhaps you should change the way you play. You can be aggressive without being suicidal.

As soon as they nerf lights as far as their speed, and some of the higher tiers that have super speed and monster alpha, then consider nerfing arty, again. This makes it harder for lights to Yolo you and get a quick kill. As an arty player I like that, don't like having to 2 and even 3 shot tanks I could destroy with 1 shot before.
That's the point of the alpha nerf you shouldn't be able to 1 tap heavies with BS alpha no TD can 1 tap a full HP Heavy. So why should a border huger be a exception.

Been playing tanks since the beginning, and never been a fan of the no skill click boxes....... opps I mean arty, but there is a easy fix. Have a option in to have server games with arty and without, and if arty players moan they can't get games then tuff poop. To have a option to play ww2 mode without arty would be good. It's a reason why I play cold war mode more now.
Here's my updated opinion about the arty changes.
- some arty had their performance ceiling reduced despite their perceived "buffs". Like the '58. Intraclip is really bad and the average DMG on a non pen can hover around 55-60dmg per shot. Not good.
- the tiering has changed. The '58 has overall been nerfed and the gwe 100 has probably now taken the right spot at the top.
- I'm surprised at the lack of hate mail overall given the constant slapping.
- getting marks of excellence is easier now IMO because when you turn something into a grind the poor and less skilled players will remain mediocre giving you room to gain moes.
Why did they increase it to 3 of the these annoying mosquitoes as well with decrease loading times the arty warning protection system is pretty much pointless. It would be a great addition if less of them.
they also changed the RNG so shells are much more likely to hit the centre even when not aimed

Prior to arty 2.0 I was literally saying WG should just buff the accuracy of them and nerf the dmg to compensate.....which they did, great. Yet even I as an arty player, cannot agree with how far they have gone with these changes.
They say they've tried 1 arty per game and it's back to 3 now.......do they not realise there is a number in between those that they haven't tried?
