    Your pronouncation of Turkish words & grasp of the vocabulary is Next Level. You really should do a video about how you learnt the language so efficiently

      Wow thank you so much, that’s a very high compliment! We do try to learn some simple friendly phrases and every country we go to, and we always try to learn the word for tasty! In turkey we had friends and stayed with locals, so we definitely did more language learning in Turkey then in prior countries. Never thought about that video idea, about which words and phrases we have found the most helpful and helps you connect it with locals the best. Amazing idea! Glad you have enjoyed our videos we’re so glad you’re here and found our channel ☺️✨👏🏼

    This video is so interesting! We recently went to a place here in Philly that serves Turkish food and someone asked me how to describe Turkish food, and I honestly didn’t know how to answer. So many places here in the US have a more general Mediterranean menu it’s hard to tell what is actually specific to a particular country unless you really know your stuff…which I don’t at all. Now I can share your vid with them 🙂 - Carrie

    • @DjusLife
      @DjusLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree with you! It is Mediterranean, but it definitely has its own flair and so many influences from other places like the middle east and other cultures. We had breads in turkey that we had never had anywhere else, and a few things like manti that we never expected to be a local Turkish comfort food or the stuff muscles, it’s something we had definitely never heard of before and all of those are very popular in common in Turkey.

    It tasted Lebanese because lebanon were turkish province together under same banner for 500 years Turks introduced them spices,kebabs and many more things have many commonity together.
    People tend to forget most of the north africa and middle east were Turkish provinces for centuries.
    Like Egypt had Turkish Rule for 800+ years,Lebanon 500+ years and many other places hmm like places like syria were turkish province less than 100 years ago... (Lahmacun is native to Turks btw)
    So we have alot of in common because of it, they have alot in common because of it as were were one, under same banner..

    Loved your video but would like to comment on your remark about Kofte tasting like pork.
    It’s like eating at the American Cut Steakhouse (Tribeca) and complimenting the chef by stating that it tastes just like the Denny’s steaks.
    My point is, just like the Americans are proud of their steaks, so are the Turks of how they do their kabobs.
    Also, glad you pointed out (in your own subtle way) where to find better Balik Ekmek. Lol
    But overall, love your videos.

    • @DjusLife
      @DjusLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much for your insightful comment! I really appreciate it. Only meant complements to the Kofte and can totally see how my description was not a proper complement. When I made this food video I did not have all the footage from the fish market where we found the amazing balik ekmek. Looking back I wish I had all the footage in the latest blog to be able to put in this food Vlog to give that sandwich justice! It was beyond good get it straight from the fish market! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and we really do appreciate your comments and insights to help make us better! 💛

      @@DjusLife Turkey has at least 30 different types of Köfte, especially every different city, region have their own culture and food i.e.as I am Laz from the Black Sea we have fish and greens, and also Karadeniz (the Black Sea Pide) I don't think people from Southern region of Gaziantep would enjoy Karadeniz food 😂 It seems to me they only eat red meat and dessert no fish and vegetables except for the salad. I can see that Köfle is just meat and has soda water in it. I think that Soda water gave that taste. I like homemade Köfte which is parsley, onion, and mince but some people also use breadcrumbs also black pepper if preferred. I also like Izmir Kofe which is similar to homemade Köfte but also they have another dish in the oven Köfte, sliced or halved potatoes, green pepper, tomatoes, aubergine layered on an oven tray with some tomato sauce i.e.papederalli or a bit of tomato paste mixed with water poured on top and then given to oven. Very easy, cheap, and healthy dish.

    The origin of lahmacun dates back to the Babylonian civilization. In Seyahatname, written by Evliya Çelebi in the 17th century, this flavor finds its place as “lahm-ı acinli börek” (meat pastry kneaded to dough consistency).The Middle Babylonian Period is a new Turkish period that continued for 1100 years after the Sumerians and Gutians.
