I replaced that part on my OM642 about 4,000 miles ago. It did reduce the oil consumption significantly. Although on my version of the engine it uses a single unit with the valve and the seal together instead of separate parts like you have, the seal part is the same. My seal was also hardened and of a much larger diameter than the new one. It did not completely stop oil making it to the turbo as I still find it pooled in the turbo intake if I look but the motor no longer uses so much, so little that it isn't really noticeable now. Thank you for your videos!
@robinpengelly8202 What year is yours? Did you have any issues getting it off? Also, did you use anti-seize on the metal bolts going into aluminum? The factory uses anti-seize and does the dealer mechanic. Something home shop mechanics don’t know to do.
I had to order that part from MB Uk , they said they do not hold stock of it and it have to be ordered from Germany. It means its not a parts that is bought frequently.Odd it should be repleced every 3 years ? Used to pay for that part ,genuine MB from the dealer circa 24 GBP , now this part is over 100 GBP...Dont get it how its poss that inflation is circa 7 % in UK and MB increase price over 400%
I dont understand how that little rubber seal could contribute to a leak. also, could you try putting a vacuum cleaner on your old pvc to test if it closes with enough suction. trying to simulate a turbo charger spooling but not sure if vacuum is strong enough
hello i have a 2008 jeep grand Cherokee with om642 engine has 11 mpg aveg that is very bad diesel milage and no check engine. i changed gas filter and air filter already. can you help please
Is that 10mm socket a "star" socket at th-cam.com/video/nIgFE9ydBgg/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=250? Also, now almost 2 years later, did you find that replacing those parts reduced the oil consumption? Thanks!

After you did the replacement, how much oil consumption was/is happening? Thanks!

I have just gone through your sprinter videos, and I’m beginning to wish you lived in my town. Many thanks
Mercedes, please bring back the OM602 and stop making junk. BMW is starting to look better and that's sad to even say. Thanks for the video!

I have the same Sprinter year and same problem. I’m wondering how your oil consumption is going for you now. Thank you
I'm wondering, too!
Un. Saludo, sus videos son muy explicativos.
When you changed the part 6420100131 did it reduce your oil consumption
5:19 you say “should be part of regular maintenance”. How often? Also are these metal bolts going into aluminum? Anti-Seize?

What size bolt is on the separator?
Do you have any videos of 2011 GL450 airmatic issues.
También es imprescindible cambiar la bomba de aceite del motor, con esas millas pierde presión y no lubrica bien el motor
