Wastegate actuator - test

  • Is wastegate actuator failure causing your car's lack of power?
    A malfunctioning wastegate actuator won't regulate fumes going to the turbine. Although still driveable, this results in lack of power and acceleration which means the car is virtually unusable.
    In this film I'll show you how to check easily whether or not the actuator is working.

    Hi, my vw 1.2 tsi wastegate actuator moves once or twice when i rev the engine. after that it stays in one position. no warning lights yet. When i try to move the rod with my had i see the same thing. it doesnt always come back to normal position. could it be actuator issue or the valve itself. any advice?

    • @k-nemo
      @k-nemo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it malfunctioned there would be a noticeable drop in power when driving.

    • @dominicsach

      @@k-nemo i tried the calibration method by turning the ignition on and off several times and found the actuator is moving like normal. Just found on another thread about someone with a similar problem i am facing. I have a slight drop in power only when trying to go uphill which is accompanied by vibrations too. and a continuous rattling while the engine is in the 1.5 to 2.5 rev range. the rattle is absent when i press the accelerator softly though. i was thinking wastegate problem or a boost leak.
