He's right on the money. As a goalie you don't 'face' the other goalie. You face their shooters. And the other goalie faces your shooters. You've got enough to worry about without thinking of what the guy 200 ft away from you is doing.

First period was stellar. The second period first 2 minutes had me screaming at my TV. Winning requires playing all 60 minutes. Toronto has more giveaways per game than teams do in an entire series. Of course they get some giveaway goals here snd there as well, but goddamn they work hard for their goals and score some beautiful plays. Snd then they turn around and have an assist in 40% of the oppositions goals Toronto needs to accept the fact that the start each game down 2-0, unless they change the giveaway issue This has been the case for years now, though, so i guess not…

Has only 52 career playoff games, with only 43 pts. Has been the Captain of the 2 teams he’s played for, for the majority of the time, never making it past the 2nd rd. He’s a good player, but not a star. He’s got 2 jr golds and an Olympic gold that he got injured at and didn’t play past the quarterfinals. I've been to watch playoff Bob in past man...he can win you a series. Thats the past though. The guy is so good laterally. He has amazing reflexes...over reactive. I would like to see the Leafs skate in fake a shot get him moving and fire it 5 hole. Easier said then done though. Not alot of time and space out there. MLSE needs to do a better job at the fan experience I think . I want to see a sea of blue ..not white rally towels in white which take on road team. Psychology of sport is very very important. Tavares is soft and so is the team. You need a captain who leads by example. Personally I think O'Reilly should be captain and choose 2 alternates vs switching between Marner and Matthews. Skill alone will not win a cup !

Almost every goal against the leafs were due to turnovers, 2 of them because they slipped. How do they manage to slip at the worst possible times? Leafs are now 1-4 at home. You could argue that Leafs were simply unlucky, they hit the bar 5 times in period 2, but that's no excuse
You guys were the better team 2/3 periods. But you fell asleep in the 2nd, left sammy out to dry and it cost you. Now you guys are down but not out, play a full 60 and you'll win, dont give up. Watched game tonite and the boys have to lay 3 pds not 2 . Bennett dirty player and he should be suspended for a game. Cross check to neck is a cheap shot and could result in bad injury. Let's see what nhl player safety is all about.

Yeah, those stretch passes seem mostly useless, typically intercepted or the player met at the blue line. They need to use their feet more, not fire low percentage passes up the ice. On the other hand, Florida is forechecking so well that the D-men are being hurried and making bad decisions under fire.
No matter if the Leaf's come back and take the series or lose the next two, Keefe has to go. He is being outcoached in every game. The Leaf's lost game 1 and I thought they made the adjustment for game 2, based on the first period, but FLA made the adjustment in between periods, better coaching.
It's got nothing to do with the coach. Did you see the first 50 seconds of the 2nd period. They couldn't clear the puck behind their own net and it ends up in the net. They were outplayed and Florida capitalized on their mistakes. Bottom line

You're not suppose to lose a game you're up 2-0. By the 1 minute mark of the 2nd period they're losing 3-2. Sloppy play and not answering the hit by Bennet was their downfall. The Panthers knew then that they could get physical with no pushback, it was over right there.
Give away after give away after give away...the Leafs in the end gave that game away. Not to take anything away from Bobrovsky he was standing on his head. But the Leafs ability to give the puck up in their own zone is the one constant here and is the main reason for the loss. Samsonov was hung out to dry by his team.
Turnovers and missed opportunities are the story of the game. Leafs got to manage the puck better and the unforced turnovers like Marner's CANNOT happen. Secondly, the big boys need to start scoring on thier chances. You're not going to win many games with only 2 goals. One game at a time guys. Gotta get the win on Sunday.

Almost every goal against the leafs were due to turnovers, 2 of them because they slipped. How do they manage to slip at the worst possible times? Leafs are now 1-4 at home.
You could argue that Leafs were simply unlucky, they hit the bar 5 times in period 2, but that's no excuse
You guys were the better team 2/3 periods. But you fell asleep in the 2nd, left sammy out to dry and it cost you. Now you guys are down but not out, play a full 60 and you'll win, dont give up. Plus for people blaming Sammy for this loss and saying switch goalies just stop. It doesn't matter who's in net if leafs don't score

Sheldon Keefe, "baffling" is a Jose Mourinho type of comment. Deflect responsibility from yourself to anyone who did wrong. Yes, I get it, this cost the game. But you never deflect or play stupid. Unless you have something up your sleeve for games 3 and 4 to turn this around, be ready to seek new work. As an athlete who has played sports at a high level, the right thing to say here is "They made plays at key moments and we have to clean it up. I hate losing so much that I will light a fire under these guys pants to get the result we need." I can accept defeat but I cannot accept a pacifist coach shrugging his shoulders. If you want to win this series, you have to do 3 things differently. 1, make the Florida goalie uncomfortable. 2, push those Panthers back with physical effort and do it for the entire game. 3, Become ugly bullies and get Florida off their game. No more finesse Leaf hockey because it isn't working all post season. Want to win the Cup, you have to smash your opponents to get it. Sorry, but the truth has to be told here. Watched game tonite and the boys have to lay 3 pds not 2 . Bennett dirty player and he should be suspended for a game. Cross check to neck is a cheap shot and could result in bad injury. Let's see what nhl player safety is all about.

Yeah, those stretch passes seem mostly useless, typically intercepted or the player met at the blue line. They need to use their feet more, not fire low percentage passes up the ice. On the other hand, Florida is forechecking so well that the D-men are being hurried and making bad decisions under fire.

No matter if the Leaf's come back and take the series or lose the next two, Keefe has to go. He is being outcoached in every game. The Leaf's lost game 1 and I thought they made the adjustment for game 2, based on the first period, but FLA made the adjustment in between periods, better coaching.
It's got nothing to do with the coach. Did you see the first 50 seconds of the 2nd period. They couldn't clear the puck behind their own net and it ends up in the net. They were outplayed and Florida capitalized on their mistakes. Bottom line

You're not suppose to lose a game you're up 2-0. By the 1 minute mark of the 2nd period they're losing 3-2. Sloppy play and not answering the hit by Bennet was their downfall. The Panthers knew then that they could get physical with no pushback, it was over right there.
Give away after give away after give away...the Leafs in the end gave that game away. Not to take anything away from Bobrovsky he was standing on his head. But the Leafs ability to give the puck up in their own zone is the one constant here and is the main reason for the loss. Samsonov was hung out to dry by his team.

Turnovers and missed opportunities are the story of the game. Leafs got to manage the puck better and the unforced turnovers like Marner's CANNOT happen. Secondly, the big boys need to start scoring on thier chances. You're not going to win many games with only 2 goals. One game at a time guys. Gotta get the win on Sunday.
