Great way to get everyone ready for season 2!! Also love the little things MAPPA added with Ranma and Akane with the remake; much more closer to the manga and same goes with the comedy(hopefully they’ll add more Ranma and Akane moments, been a fan of those dorks since I was a kid) And having grown up with the OG anime and the OG English dub, I have to say the cast so far is pretty great(still miss Akane’s original English VA but I know she retired and hope she’s doing well) Maybe the lighting and color palette can be fixed up a tad for season 2 and some more awesome music from the same composer for InuYasha and the Kingdom Hearts games(no seriously) Otherwise, looking forward to seeing Mousse and Ukyo again in Season 2!!
Shampoo’s Chinese is a lot better in the English dub. Her VA is Chinese-American Grace Lu, who is fluent in mandarin Meanwhile the Japanese dub, while having the original VA, speaks essentially gibberish in her Chinese lines
Hold the phone. If you're referring to the Shampoo's debut dialogue in the original, that was not gibberish, the studio just asked Sakuma Rei to memorize some Chinese cuisine names. After all, the target audience is Japanese, the studio were just needed something that sound foreign, and assumed most Japanese audience weren't going to be hung up on the specifics. But this time in the remake, Shampoo's dialogue was significantly improved. Instead of cuisine names, she actually spoke full sentences that can be comprehended in Chinese, albeit heavily accented but that is to be expected. Clearly, Rei had done her prep work, MAPPA might even have hired a Chinese language coach to teach her the pronunciations.
I'm enjoying the remake but I noticed that it's missing the comedic and drama vibe of the OG. Like the part when Ranma calling Akane uncute, the OG had panda randomly DJocking Ranma's recorded voice that made me LMAO. And the scene when Shampoo cried had more feels.. At first I thought it was just the nostalgia but after watching the OG again, it still retain the same vibe that I enjoyed.
I know that most anime these days are only 12 episodes long, some are 24, but I wanted more episodes.I just hope MAPPA adapts the entire Ranma ½ manga, unlike the 1989 anime who didn't manage to adapt the entire story
@@pablocasas5906 I was hoping it would be 24 since urusei yatsura (another remake) had each of it's seasons be 24 episodes, but i guess maybe they were seeing how well ranma would be recieved first
Akane is just not the same without Hidaka Noriko's voice, there's a level of hot-blooded quality that can't be replicated easily in English. She is after all the archetype for the hot-blooded girl. 3:41 Is that really necessary? Is TH-cam's algorithm so prudish that it can't even handle barbie doll anatomy?
Ranma being at his most obnoxious intentions in humiliating Ryoga for being naked and Akane for being unsexy and uncute is really funny But don't humiliate anybody like that though
I am disappointed in this episode. Animators didn't mimic what they did in classic series of using the DJ booth by Genma to Remix Ranma's insults to bring Akane's memory back. Instead they just did memory echoes.
Like other people said, the DJ diss track gag is only og-anime filler, it's not in the manga (yet). Akane losing her memory is supposed to be a distressing moment for Ranma; so much that he's about to swim to China to find her cure (even though that idea never occured to him to cure his own curse). He really treasured the time they've spent together; Akane forgetting him is not an option for him. The DJ diss track is fun for us audience, but in this situation Ranma couldn't afford to be joking; it'd be ooc of him to do so. While it's sad to see the diss track go, MAPPA did the right thing to keep the overall tone emotional.
Got to remember, this remake is supposed to be adapted based on the manga. As iconic as some of the scenes were in the original, many of them were fillers that either didn't exist in the manga, or were altered. Therefore MAPPA isn't exactly shooting for a 1:1 with the original series.
How did this happen? The English dub in the original was so fun. And with all the English actors in the new episodes being so stiff and lifeless, I'd put my money on it being a directorial problem. It's such a shame. The original was one of my favorite animes from my childhood. 0:44 And of course, in the original, the line was, "You want to see something really funny" not cool, so we can blame the writing as well.
It's amazing how cute Shampoo's dub voice is. 🥰
She's so cute!🥰
Her VA is a Chinese, so of course she sounds natural
Props to Grace Lu

Shampoo's name suddenly made sense in this episode.
Trust me the Enter Shampoo arc is over but this won't be the last we see of her and with the season 2 announcement there's more surprises to come
I think the next arc of this is still about shampoo, but her grandma comes in
Shampoo will return as a cat, stay tuned😂
@Chickenworm9394 Dude! Spoilers for anyone who didn't see the manga and/or 80s
@@Moonbloom223 spoilers for the 35+ year old show!
@KornKobb You never know there might be new fans who are exposed to this show for the first time
back in the 90's shampoo was my childhood crush....and still is!!
Lol. Mine's too😉

She’s actually part Taiwanese. But yeah, Grace’s Mandarin is fluent.

That wasn't in the manga so they didn't adapt that
yeah also the last scene when girl ranma and akane had an argument about the thing ranma told her
I only miss the OG music.
Is it me or the other supporting casts don’t make much of an appearance compared to the original anime?
分かりますーー!!これを覚えてる方がいらっしゃったとは!!!
DJしてるところがカットされてて本当に悲しかったです!
I like that Shampoo doesn’t speak broken English in this dub. Big improvement
I can't wait for season 2 of the anime
"I HAD NO IDEA."
Yeah, sure you didn’t. 😂😂😂
He probably wanted a way to mooch of the tendos
He's playing along to keep up the ruse.
La voz de Xi'an Pu en ingles no está nada mal. Es muy buena.
x2 y por lo que ví la actriz es china, así que la Shampoo gringa habla mejor el chino que en otros idiomas xd
I can’t tell but is episode 12 the finale of the season
yeah, season 1 ended, but season 2 was announced right after the episode aired.
@ oh okay thanks

At least in both versions she doesn't do that broken English bit
I can’t wait for all the fun to come in the next season man…
Well at least Shampoo can finally give Ranma a break for now, Ranma, Ryoga and the Tendos really got lots of adventures or misadventures on them
i laugh so much with this show man is amazing

Shampoo so sexy and cute in the same time

Shampoo is so cute in the Anime Series

Well, that gag isn't in the manga, and the tone they were going for in the scene was more emotional.
@roskiart8750 it isn't? And here I thought the exaggerated dramatic moments with mic on hand were done by Rumiko sensei herself.
@@solitaregames Yes, but that wasn't one of them. Not all gags were in the manga day one, the mic gag started appearing later.

I’m glad they toned down Shampoo’s accent for the English dub. She still has a great Chinese accent but her speech is clear.
and her voice actor is Chinese-American.
If you ever feel sorry for Ryoga just remember all his actions against Ranma up to this point.
Ryoga is pretty dumb for everything
And the whole P-Chan thing, which is one big NOPE for me when it comes to me shipping him with Akane. Sorry.
In the part of shampoo’s Chinese, English version is better than Japanese version.

I’m pretty sure you’re in the minority to think that bud.
@Zarastro54 Alright. I'm good with that. I've never been in the habit of changing my opinion because it's unpopular.
Not everyone can in the dub cast is perfect, but David Errigo Jr in particular is knocking male Ranma out of the park, his reads are hilarious
You obviously haven't been watching if you think this is lifeless.
