Servicing costs are the deal breaker with expensive watches for me. I can buy a new Pagani every year. Face it. Few people actually look at your watches and in the age group that one can afford the best watches everyone has bad eyesight anyway.
This comment is very true. I try to look at peoples watches on the metro and you just cant make them out. Cant go wrong with a yearly pagani!
The Pagani v4 at 40mm, NH34 movement (Seiko) just showed up. Polar. After a week, it has settled down to +2s/day. It is very well made, way better movement than the watch in this review....and frankly, it is my new every day watch...it is "good enough" and frankly a watch I don't need to worry about. A Rolex is too expensive to beat up..this is not. And so it is the far better watch.
Just amazing...the nh34 is a game changer.

I have the polar v4, very pleased with. I use to own a Rolex submariner, but I can wear the Pagani without any worries about knocking it, scratching it etc and having to pay a considerable amount to get it serviced.
Pagani Design really are an incredible value for the price, sapphire crystal, a nice bracelet for the price and 200m water resistance
It is exceptional value for money. A really good homage brand.

You can't even service the Rolex for the price of the Pagani.

The SanMartin Homage is much closer in quality.
I don’t think San Martin has an Explorer II. Theirs is a Black Bay Pro homage

Yes, Chris is correct. SM do many BB pro homages but at present no explorer 2 homages. But I do like San Martin homages. Their quality is very good but they are also more expensive than Pagani Design. Thanks for your comment ))
I never really 'got' the Explorer II. It's like the Explorer and the GMT had an oversized baby. That notwithstanding, I'm with you on choosing the Rolex if you can afford it but the reason shouldn't be that you hope it appreciates in price. It might. It most likely will not. Especially considering inflation. And especially especially considering opportunity cost. (buying the Rolex vs investing the money instead). So, enjoy your timepiece. But know that under most circumstances, it costs you money. Every single day.
Some good points well made Fabian. I did not buy the explorer 2 only as an investment, I wear the watch a lot and love it )) But I do think luxury watches are investments and like all investments we need to be prepared that the value could go up or down.
@@watchesdreams Thanks for your response, and let me highlight that I did like your video! I wish more owners of luxury watches would upload such detailed comparisons with decent homages. I just pointed this out about investments so it's not misleading for viewers who might not know as much about watches. As far as watch investments go, you can certainly do much worse than Rolex as a brand. And the pleasure of wearing them is immeasurable. :) (I am probably just jealous you can pull off the big size of the Explorer II. :D Enjoy.)

You are compariing a $10000 watch with a $100 watch and expecting them to be the same, To me it just proves that Rolex are ripping people off with their one million watch production a year. I owned a Rolex ànd found it was not that great for time keeping but I did make 50% on selling it

I bought the PD V2 in Polar because I loved the Explorer look. It quit after four days and I had to send it back for a refund. Very disappointed.
So sorry for that. Did they refund you?
Yes, they were good about the refund but I was sad about the watch. I really liked it.

Unfortunately, one is likely to get beat-up and robbed if wearing the real thing - wear the Pagani then one can just take it off the wrist and tell the robbers to take it.

Im afraid this is a case of stating the total obvious, Nothing new here. Your first consideration is value and investment. The Pagani was worth nothing the moment you purchased it! but having owned both I think they are both fine
