Why do you and every other youtube always cast BDO in a negative light whenever mentioning it? the game isn't perfect but it does deserve a bit more praise and less heavy handed passive aggressive reviews. I'm aware you don't really play the game but seriously, you and many other mmo review youtubers who actually mention BDO exists here and there review it in the same light even though a lot of things within the game have changed. You're just holding on to how the game was 6 years ago. Idk if you're getting your information from a ill-informed or just pessimistic player, or the last time you played the game was when it was at it's worst a few years ago. But yea.
@@PidgeonChair The game is still extremely grindy, that hasnt changed. Yes the 'P2W' elements have gotten better and there have been a bunch of different QoL changes over the years. But at the end of the day, like i said, it's still a grindfest.
There is i think, not close as good as it looks in the anime ofc but it exists, publiced by bandai Namco which usually release decent games so SAO might be aswell i just haven't tried it yet :)
Lost Ark is a great mmorpg with lots of content, but i dont think bots are the main reason a lot of players left after the honeymoon period at launch. For me personally, and for many others, the fact that u either have to play alts to funnel all your mats to your main, or pay money, to keep up with endgame content, was the reason many left. I dont want to play 3-4 different characters, to do the same content on each of these characters, to have a chance to upgrade my gear.
And also, just like me , i think many other left as well beacuse amazon didn't gave us the same material generator stuff, at launch and for many months after that the korean version had, encouraging players to have more alts, or just rather to throw more money at them.
For me, it was when you got to the “main center” town (forgot the name) and you experience the rng progression (ptw) system. Instant turn off. Game itself is fun. Having to grind weeks and then it goes turns into no progress was a major turn off for me. Been enjoying new world and while it has its problems, I can stop playing it for a month or so, come right back where I left off without feeling like I missed out. Plus no ptw!
There was a lot of debate about the game being Pay2Win... in the end it was more Pay2Play than P2W. Either spend massive amounts of time (or some cash) to unlock the game's content. It was not a good experience.
I enjoyed my time with the game, but as someone who likes to go out in the world and explore and not buy gear with real $ or play alts, I just felt too much FOMO from not trying to progress in raids. Also this is a weird complaint, but to me it felt *too much* like a game. The gearscore lockouts, a million different timers, the NPCs standing in place selling things which make no sense in currencies which have no use except to be spent at those NPCs, the seemingly nonsensical raid boss mechanics. It could have used a lot more story to justify all of its game systems.
I would absolutely love to see a huge massive open world, mmorpg, lotr style game with giant community, factions and lore where the players make the story and events. Like an alternative fantasy reality.
Destiny 2 might be the one for you but playing that shi is like cracking meth so I already deleted it with 10000 hours on it. I'm afraid to touch it again.
I mean it's like he said - it's easily one of the greatest MMO's of all time. It's just a true sandbox casual MMO that's good at giving dopamine points lol
@@LooseToots why wouldn’t you…? Not everyone cares about pvp… or pve. Some people like flexing 99 cooking for fishing… and every skill helps towards pve… lol
Lost ark's playbase is 70-80% bots. Not even exaggerating. Today they banned over 200k bot accounts. As of this comment the player count is sitting at 84k with bots still wandering around.
One of the best decisions I've made recently was pulling a plug on Lost Ark. Underneath the facade of fun combat and decent raiding experience, is a ridicilously pay to win, bot filled, gatekeeping, alt character daily repetetive chore grind, with 30+ convoluted currencies, that will literally make you start hating MMORPGs if you allowed yourself to get invested. The game was an absolute misery, so if you're new and thinking of jumping in, consider this: No matter what game I've played and eventually quit, I always look back and appreciate fun times I had with it, whether collecting skins in GW2, castle sieges in BDO, guild wars in ESO or raiding in FF. For Lost Ark, with a clear mind, I regret every second I put into it from start to finish.
If you are new coming to Lost Ark, don't bother yourself. The game is in its worst state it could ever be. Toxic gatekeeping community, tons of bots and an apathetic devs to say the least. Edit: Bots issue seem to have stabilized a bit but bussing is the new anthem now. Basically you pay other players to carry you through contents. If you miss out on those contents, you FOMO. At the end, the game design needs revamp.
@@lucatfer3497 "why don't you try to make your own party" And then get stuck in "LF sup" purgatory, causing everyone inside to get too impatient and disband.
Everyone knows Lost ark is for whales, even streamers are always begging for $$$ then failing rng to upgrade gear😂🤣😂 If you like wasting $$$, Lost Ark is perfection.
Honestly GW2 is a wonderful game to immerse yourself and get lost in. I've returned to the game recently and started playing with my gf (who hasn't really played MMOs that much in the past) and she's been loving every bit of the atmosphere, gameplay and things to do. The Community is really wholesome and everyone's just up to help. Just yesterday I had some guy try and help me beat a Boss for 30mins straight - even tho he gained nothing from it. Game's still active too, can definetly recommend.
@@_Crimson._ Direct answer: No. Indirect Answer: You could potentially use GeForce Now (Cloud Gaming) to play it from your phone or an old laptop or anything. :D
GW2 is the game to go spending free time in if you’re adult swamped in vertical progression in real life. Try hards find it boring because you can only grind so much dailies and power creep is mostly skill-dependent
Played wow and black desert for years, I concur, gw2 has this certain quality that makes you feels like the game is a virtual home, where you can relax and have fun, no grindy obligation and certainly not a loot-hamster wheel system.
as a new-ish player, the one thing i never really liked was the weird cutscene dialogues that are used for the vanilla game. it felt like the pacing was way too slow as the dialogue would briefly pause whenever another character had to fade onto screen before their corresponding audio would play. i never got around to finishing the personal story because of it, so i skipped it, watched a youtube summary about what happened and went into heart of thorns. i've just started end of dragons and gw2 has already earned a spot in my top 3 mmorpgs.
Nice to see Settled mentioned in the video. I haven't actively played OSRS before, but his videos are still some of the most entertaining on youtube for me, since he's great at explaining everything even to somebody who's never played it.
You should definitely try it then!!! I’ve been playing since 2005 when I was 7 years old and I still am discovering new things. The game might seem overwhelming at first because there’s so much to do but I promise, it’s not that bad once you understand what all of the skills do, and the community is super chill and helpful: most people like helping new players so if you’re having trouble just ask!!
skin wars 2? xD I was in love with game 2012(when cheaters and bots almost ruined game) till 2019...cant play anymore, due lack of normal iq players in pvp or pve...end game is nonsence, i had more trouble with some field bosses, than with main antagonist dragons in main story! Gear is funny, cause for few stats more, i dont want to waste my time. Legendary items can be brought via illegal sites, or auction for gold etc... I really loved game, but passive agressive behavior of community is too much.. in wvwvw you can see what im talking about.
If you want some amazing Osrs content. All 3 seasons of Gilinor Games are incredible! Season 3 is still on going and it's been incredibly fun. It's alot of Osrs TH-camrs competing.
I think Runescape3's biggest upside is its end-game PvM if you get there. It has such a high skill ceiling with very interesting interactions and ways to outplay bosses to become a better player. The problem is that this takes hundreds of hours at least to reach and then hundreds more to fully gear out. And that is in a non ironman mode
Definitely have to recommend GW2 for new players. Been playing it on and off for a couple of years, one tip is play all the way to lvl 80 without buying any expansions first. When I first started, I used to go on youtube so many times just because I couldn't figure out how to reach certain vistas or interest points. With the introduction of Mounts, I just use my Skyscale lol for map completion. Haven't even gotten around to playing the EoD expansion, I bought it just to support Anet, i'll probably play it over spring break lol. Lost Ark is fun until you get to T3, then it's just endless grinding and creating alts so you can feed mats to your main. It was so damn annoying that, eventually I just relaxed on Panda island and the eventually quit the game. FFXIV is a really good game and I definitely enjoyed playing it the trial. The trial has so much content, but I eventually quit because I didn't want to get attached to it lol. Plus I couldn't get behind the idea of buying the game and then paying a monthly subscription and then having to buy any new expansions too. But I'd definitely recommend it if you have some extra money and time.
Bdo can be a pain but ngl the recent change of letting players have a private grind spot for an hour a day (even for Elvia spots) is such a stress reliever. Means we can grind casually without being a swaety 300ap player
Osrs is one of those games to me where I honestly do not enjoy playing it that much as it can be extremely grindy and straight up boring BUT the content creation is my favorite thing on youtube, it is just too good and makes me want to play the game even when I am aware I do not like it long term
Fr Settled’s UIM Tileman made me create an UIM but shortly after I realized I don’t have as much time as him to play the game and am thinking of switching to regular IM
Totally agree, OSRS content creation is top notch and almost feels like undeserved to be blessed with such. A lot of people I know, including myself who stopped playing the game long time ago, because of having no time, still enjoys watching OSRS content almost everyday.
GW2 is so slept on, some of the best open world MMO experiences I've ever had, along with the great mount system, non-p2w, and great combat system.(not to mention some of the best fashion I've ever seen in the genre) Overall an extremely helpful and friendly community willing to help, as a veteran of the game I highly recommend people trying out GW2 if they haven't already!
@@sirmarshall9521 Yeah it's unfortunate but it's the same for me. I love the look of it and really want to enjoy it, I just can't find myself having fun when leveling up in it

Some huge praise for Settled here. I totally agree about OSRS's youtube scene being by far the best. As long as graphics aren't too import to you it's my go to recommendation when people ask about MMOs to play.
I think the segment about GW2 could've been more interesting. ANet disclosed a few hints at where the player base is at right now and it would've been more interesting to theorize based on that. 1. Currently the player base exceeded HoT launch numbers. Maybe with a bit of research we could've found out what the numbers were back then, do an estimate based on that 2. After EoD launched they said that the player base more than doubled in over the past few years. Same thing as point 1., maybe we could vaguely find out where the game was in the past and theorize based on that. I'm not saying that the estimate is wrong or anything of sorts, just saying this angle would've been an interesting thing to discuss in the context of the video.
@@qontroL why would that even be a thing? You can't transfer daily rewards between accounts last I remembered. I'm not sure you know what you're talking about.
@@qontroL But those accounts are not the ones Grouch was talking about in the reddit/Twitch comments. It is active players/concurrent players they have mentioned not total accounts. Some comments from Grouch and the Studio Update mentioned: The games population has doubled in the last couple of years. "This year we’ve already seen more players venture into Tyria for the first time since 2015." (December 14, 2022) EoD outsold PoF. (You don't buy EoD if the only thing you are after is login rewards) And there were more players playing in the weeks leading up to the Steam launch than there were at the EoD launched. If those statements can't convince you that the games population is on an upwards trend then you can just check out the NCSOFT quarterly earnings reports. They are a publicly traded company after all. So you can get some sense about how the game is doing just by checking the numbers.
@@jacobruiter592 It is definitely a thing. You can trade laurels for T1-6 Mats and send those over. And the mystic Coins can be sent over as well. But I can't imagine there are enough people that spend the time and money to manage multiple accounts to make a difference on the statistics over total accounts. At least not now when the mystic coin prices have plummeted over 65% from 2,3 Gold down to 80 silver over the course of 1 year. And I am not sure how Anet defines active accounts but I can't imagine that just logging in to character select and then closing the game again counts as an active player.
What I like about gw2, is that if I ever want to return , my gear and fashion are still top tier....with other games I'd have to farm new gear all over again.
As a non-GW2 player, i really disliked the combat system where, if you equip an axe, here is 4 generic axe skills you'll have to settle with for... forever, Oh but weapon swapping! So i can have 4 generic bow skills aswell? No ty. That aside, i wanted to ask.. Whats the Reason to "come back" then?? Only to farm new transmogs and make more gold?
@@MoseTM Well, if my character is equipped with an axe ,it makes sense that he attacks with it lol . Also the weapon skills are not generic , they change acording to the profession (for example a warrior equipoed with an axe has a different skill set than a ranger), and it also changes if it is equipped in the main hand or the second hand. The weapon swapping is a god like mechanic for the real time combat and target system, it makes the game super fluid. Regarding yout question, having fun I guess?? You know like killing mobs and bosses , 5v5 pvp , crazy 50vs50vs50 zergs in world vs world, map exploration (really fun with the mounts ) , story, etc....as long there is a guild/group of friends to play, because it's a mmorpg, it's supose to be social.
@@retrohidalgo4024 I just remember playing an archer planning on going druid?? I think? What's the point of killing mobs/bosses if they yield nothing? The rest i can get down with.
@@MoseTM Ranger , warrior and guardian are meant to be easy to play, but hard to master. I think that's why you have the feeling of "generic skills". Now, if you are coming from gw1 it makes perfect sense gw2 didn't enchant you . They are very different games (and also nostalgic factor). As for the bosses, personally I don't play for rewards, I play for fun , for challenging myself being top dps, for the jokes in the middle of the fractal/dungeon/raid, for coordinaring the perfect combo with the teammates, etc....now said that, bosses and dungeons can drop cool rewards, such as pre legendary items, infusions, designs, titles, etc...
@@retrohidalgo4024 Arrite arrite - whatever floats your boat as it's all subjective, i was never ever really drawn to Transmog/Achievements/Titles/Mounts etc. Yeah i was so freaking hyped for GW2 since i was a huge 1 fan, nice to see the game is still alive and well even though i personally hated it.
The server status in gw2 does not translate well to overall player population because "servers" are only relevant for WvW matchups (large scale PvP) and thus only take into consideration active WvW players. For everything else gw2 uses megaservers that allow everyone to play with everyone else within their region (EU or NA). Even WvW will be restructured to not use "servers" anymore but make matchups based on guilds and alliances. Fun fact: GW2's server infrastructure is setup so it never has any downtime, even with major patch or expansion releases. When the update drops you have 2 hours to finish whatever you are doing and once you restart you patch the game and jump right back in.
@@FalconStrikeGames I’ve been playing gw2 for many years now although I think the game is decent but I see many misleading comments tryna pull new players lol come on now
Thing to note about Final Fantasy 14 is that you have cross server, cross data center and cross-PC/PS play. When it comes to grouping for content it pulls from every server on that data center. You also have the ability to visit other servers within your data center and no cost in both real and in-game currency. You can purchase from other servers but you can only sell on your native server. People server hop to find better prices on goods. They even have cross-server chats called linkshells that you can make and stay connected with friends on other servers when you aren't visiting theirs. They also introduced data center travel but I can't comment on that as I haven't had a reason to try it. So you could have started on a NA data center and say go to a EU data center. The ability to connect with others in FF14 is not to be understated because you aren't just playing with people on your sever.
It’s all about the personal experience. To me - ESO will forever have my best memories in the MMO genre. BDO was the most grindy though less social MMO I’ve played. New World is where it’s mostly at for me currently. I know many have love/hate relationship with it…. But I think the game is pretty darn amazing and I really am rooting for it.
Tried ESO but could not get past the login screen, Never was able to get the access code they require to authenticate my PC. So ended up getting a refund since I could not even login.
Yea, so I liked New World. But found that I don't have the time to enjoy it. Is there a way to enjoy the game without the constant grind for crafting materials?? I can tell you that the amount of times I have gone back to SWTOR there is always players and queues never feel empty even for a game this old. The fan base is so loyal to the game. Would love to see another more populated star wars mmo come through. The main thing that keeps you going in SWTOR or at least me is the dialogue the fact that I can hear my character contribute to the story. And the story itself is amazing. Also the choice between being evil and good is perfect too. Wish more games would go back to implementing the change of appearence with the choices you make. The fact that you become this guy who is super pale with yellow eyes and then red eyes and dark veins is just perfect.
i recently decided to give SWTOR a try as a free player my only complaints so far is if you want to use certain emotes like /sleep ya need to pay and if you want to send an email to other players (not that i have any friends YET) need to pay for that too instant turn offs (for me anyways)
It’s meh, the gameplay is okay, animations are a bit clunky ,mount animations look horrible, 3 of the class stories are good and the others are bad. The game is a wasteland, barely anyone plays it and the only steady updates that get released are for the cash shop. The "big" 10th anniversary was an absolute joke and all the content that's been released since Jan 2022 was supposed to be included in the 7.0 release so we aren't even getting new content, not to mention the removal of ranked PVP because the crybaby population was whining about "toxic" players.
@@songoku6067 Funny how the only thing you can try to defend is how many players the game has. Only the highest tier of dungeons have role requirements so of course you're finding people to run them with, you failed to mention your group could be made up of anything: 2 tank/2 dps, 3 healers/1 dps, 4 healers, 1 tank/3 healers. It's a mess and because of this bosses are stripped of any challenge so these down syndrome groups can complete them. If you want a proper dungeon group you're stuck waiting an hour or more.
Lost ark was one of my favorite gaming experiences when they just released. Great story and end game content. I remembered when everyone was struggling against the 4th guardian (forgot the name) and the feeling of beating it was just amazing. Come back from real life work at night and gonna work in virtual work... Me too quit the game instantly after that realization...same with you lol.
Final Fantasy 14 was my favorite MMORPG for a long time, with a total of over 2 years on my account. But I recently just got burned out; and I don't miss it much anymore. It is a high quality game, though the combat is lacking. It has a very in depth story with many branches, some of which are voice acted, but be ready for lots of reading doing the quests. There are a lot of fun themes, especially for the raids. If you like high fantasy and scifi, with cutscenes and a in depth story, then I recogmend this game. The over all player base is friendly and helpful; more so than other games. The music is excellent and very positive.

You can thank their mega servers for that, gw2 really does servers best to make it seem like the most populated mmo.. Guild Wars 2 in my opinion is the best mmo on the list. Truly an S tier game. Glad EVE is still pushing along as well, I played that for 8 years and loved it but have since moved on. Star Citizen's latest numbers are also surprising. 240k monthly active users on average with a peak of 400k last may and 1 million unique logins. The game is much bigger than I thought. Plus its in a state where it has more features than a bunch of new games that are coming out these days which is actually quite sad and shows that some studios should definitely wait on releasing their games.
the one thing I just can't get into with GW2 is the lack of vertical progression. My favorite period of any MMO is the launch where everyone is progressing on an even playing field. The progression part is the most fun part of an MMO for me.
@@Nuh Yeah yeah I get that. It's up to personal preference. Some people like it a lot and it sure as hell makes the game a lot more casual friendly and makes it so you can play when you want with no pressure. I played Path of Exile and Lost ark, but then I started in BDO and OMG, the game came to me for free in one event 2 years ago, the creation system on chars has no equal in any MMORPG, the game scenarios look very realistic and absolutely beautiful, you have free 3D camera (not fixed isometric), you have thousands of different spots with different mechanics to kill the monsters (not like the 7 types of mobs other games have), then I tried WOW and ESO, but after playing BDO the movements on chars it feels like I am playing with a robot or playmovil, lol. Also, BDO has constant events and all the expansions, new areas, dungeons, etc all that is given for free (no need to pay subscriptions or new DLC's). Give it a try!! Pd. I have a decent progress in BDO and I haven't invested a single coin of real money. Good video. Greetings!!
I agree that you don't need to put any money, but i disagree about recommending BDO since its korean game. All koreans go for p2w. Yes you can progress in BDO but if you're a pay 2 winner, you will progress way faster compared to a f2p. You will have to grind for years to atleast get a decent gear, unless you're that most luckiest person on the planet to just smash your gear and hope for the best. Your gear will break almost all the time cus of that low chance to upgrade. It's really not worth playing the game if you DO NOT want to spend any money in, cause this game will need you to buy stuff with real money. Nobody can disagree with that, if it isn't for gear. It will be for your character, and i'm talking about progressing as in, inventory slots, pets, fairies, maids, tent is rly useful and will be needed late game and most importantly value pack, which is monthly. Has a limit 30 days to 120 i think. Value pack gives alot of bonuses which every person would really need to have. So yes, you do need to spend money in bdo to atleast have fun otherwise. You'll get killed by p2wers pretty much all the time :) Edit: Also pets is one of the most important there is since they pick up the loot automatically so u dont have to get there and collect all the time manually. The higher lvl the pet is, the faster they pick up. So to get higher level pet, you need same RARITY on the pet to be able to FUSE them together. Oh and also, you need luck there too if you want to get higher lvl! The more pets you FUSE, the higher the luck. which means, you need to buy EVEN MORE PETS. And also, each pet has its own "ability bonus". Which for example polar bear are most commonly bought but they're limited, cus they give + weight. So yeah, have fun with that too!
@@MonsteRNieR Yeah, I have played BDO for almost 2 years, developers have been giving many amazing gifts for free on events, and the other stuff we can get them with loyalties.
@@djghod4391 Wow man, look like you have some time away from the game, pets have come to me for free, some from the quests directly in the game, adventure books, etc, and devs also have been giving many of them for free in events, no need to buy a single one and I already have a T-5 and ther rest are T-4. Same with maids. There were only 2 things that I used to dislike on the game, one was as you said that PTW or veteran players might kill you in some spots, but luckily devs gave us seasons were no PKs are allowed, and after that they gave us Marni rooms (1hr of private servers) to do our grinding without being disturbed, so problems solved. And the other problem was the RNG enhancing system, I almost quit because of that, but then devs gave us 100% PEN guaranteed methods to get our gear, and problem solved too. Secrets to get progress without spending real money might be: go only for 100% guaranteed progress methods or buy what you need directly from the market, take advantage of all events and seasons for pretty cool rewards, and use loyalties shop (for 1 day value pack, buffs, lodging, inventory, weight, etc), you need to be smart, getting the optimal way to maximize profit it is also pretty fun in the game. That is why I highly recommend BDO to everybody. :). Greetings bro.
I agree. I think Peon has a biased opinion on BDO since he played in the early days. It's not necessary to spend money in the game. If you're gonna spend, you'll probably do that in any other game.
That last part is so true. I play NGS and even though it’s always had a tiny player base I’ve never had trouble finding people for boss runs or farming runs and there’s usually 2 or 3 sever maxed out so there’s always a bunch of people hanging around the lobby or in combat zones.
Swtor is probably the most interesting mmo I’ve played. The fact that there is rp like fallout or Witcher and different kind of stories for each classes made me engage in the game a lot more than other mmos.
GW2 is a great game but the horizontal progression Def makes it feel like there is an overwhelming amount of content sometimes. Def go in with the idea that it's a marathon and not a sprint.
The beauty of gw2 is whatever you do your always rewarded for it it doesnt have that typical "only do this to progress" shit like most of mmorpgs out there
@@Relhio I know there are a lot of people that complain about the Skyscale quest chain and a lot of people who defend it. It was a lot to do for a great reward but I didn't enjoy a second of it. It felt like every annoying MMO quest smacked together and I made the mistake of trying to force myself to grind it out and burned out a bit in the process. The two areas the game lacks the most is getting info to new players and some of their design, like the Skyscale unlock, could be modernized. I hope their next stop is PvP though.
@@TheLazyPeon a while ago you asked your viewers to keep you to your word about a fitness journey, saying you'd have a six pack. So how's it going? Did you achieve your goal?
I want to get into BDO but I always feel so overwhelmed by all the different items you get, and I have no idea what the heck all that crap is even for. What to save, what not to save, etc.
Just about all your questions can be answered by one of the best TH-cam content providers for the game - Evil Do Us Harm. He has LOTS (over 50?) of videos that are professionally presented and very informative. He cares about the game and has provided me tons of worthwhile information and how tos.
I just want to find a game in which the grind isnt hard or takes too long, the story is immersive and interesting, character creation, classes and how they impact the game, where you're actions have consequences, and good grapics. Yeah there are many but every so often i come on youtube hoping to find a new game in which i can indulge myself after hours of working and coming home. Maybe im being too picky but mmorpgs arent the same anymore when you get older
OSRS is the game with the absolute best content being created on TH-cam out of all MMOs and it's creators. The sheer amount of grind, perserverance, ways to make their lives even more miserable than the last challenge they created for themselves and somehow pushing through legit makes me want to play the game even though i know neither do i have the time nor the willpower to play the game without any restriction. Shoutout to Settled, J1mmy and Limpwurt for making top tier content
It is good. 2k hours in this game and still counting. However I should say there arent many content to do in end game, but there are some hopes as devs working on new content and at some point listening to the comunity.
Glad to see swtor made it on the list. It is a vibrant game, always people around no matter what planet you're on. But there's only 5 huge servers, but who cares. You can only interact with your server anyway
I played Eve Online for about 10 years. I quit playing in 2019 when the Devs started making a lot of bad "QoL" changes. They bottlenecked a lot of currency making, reduced asteroid yield for mining(A lot), nerfed a bunch of important, isk making, ships, reduced incursion spawns(large group content), and made ratting(killing npc's for bounty money) more tedious. The people who thrive in the game now are running 10+ accounts and multi-boxing constantly. Sure it's still playable, a gorgeous game, and a PvP experience that will give you a rush like no other, but if you want to get involved in capital warfare and be able to replace 1 - 100 Billion isk+ ships efficiently then you're gonna need to put in a lot of time and money. This game is a job and its core is making ISK(currency).
World of warcraft has been my favorite so far. As a new player it was very overwhelming at first and took a lot of youtube help to figure out a lot of the mechanics. But once i got over that initial learning curve I've definitely had the most fun with it. Final fantasy 14 is a close 2nd the gameplay is really good I just prefer wows approach on being more of an adventure game wondering around finding things to do. Final fantasy had this too but it was more of a story driven experience which isn't bad just not what I was looking for personally. Either way both wow and ff14 I can easily recommend
You mention in Black Desert that you need a big bank balance to enjoy it; this is not true and honestly never really was true. Whaling in BD (they dropped the Online part from the name) was never really great, but since Kakao was dropped by Pearl Abyss, it's only gotten worse for anyone who wants to dump money for an advantage. It's basically just a convenience factor at this point. Best action combat is so true though. Some of the best graphics in an MMO as well, and it's been optimized a ton since going to console. Crimson Desert and Plan B will make Pearl Abyss a household name for western gamers, and teach the devs new tricks for their engine which will be backwards compatible with Black Desert. In the current pool of playable MMOs, it may very well have the brightest path ahead of it.
GW2 is the best game so far from the list! It features horizontal progression, a cool mount system (I even created a Targaryen with a red dragon!), the best cosmetics (any piece of armor or weapon can be used as a cosmetic and dyed to hundreds of colors available), a great storyline (where your character becomes a commandant, with engaging dialogues and recorded voice acting), enjoyable PvP, and relevant armors and weapons! I haven't found as many positive aspects in other games as GW2 managed to deliver. However, I did purchase the expansions and some gold to reach my current state of satisfaction with the game.
yeah its overall good, but without inventory & itemslot expansions, its gets "overfloweing" really fast! and the inventory management isnt the best tbh! but still fun overall!
There's something about GW2 players that makes them feel the game isn't appreciated. It's definitely the most player promoted mmorpg. All comments on the game look like promo.
I dont mind playing a bit of alt trying different class on lost ark. The biggest problem is the struggle of doing legion, unless you have a dedicated group. Spending 2-3 hours on a single content with random pug is a devastating blow for many players.
Daily players means the number of total players to login on the day. Concurrent players are the amount online at any given time. So if new world has 45k online at once it could certainly have 10x that in total daily players as most people aren’t going to be online all day
Having played a bunch of the MMO's on this list, I gotta give absolute credit to Guild Wars 2. I respect a game that respects my time and my wallet, and GW2 delivers. I enjoy that my gear is always relevant, no matter how long I may stop playing for. I don't have time for constant progression grinds in games with work and everything else. I'm able to log onto GW2, and kill some massive meta world bosses/events with tons of other players on an absolute whim. Friendliest player-base I've ever come across, as the game and community encourages it. Do some achievement hunting, fashion collecting, decent crafting, great mount system, graphics that still hold up, and a game that always feels alive with its environment and graphics. Seriously can't recommend enough!
i never like mmorpg genre simply bcoz of typical mmo one click it plays itself. but when i dscovered albion online, man the full loot pvp is so addicting. the adrenaline rush will make your heart explode. you feel so good yourself that all of those hours days weeks and months you play in pve just to make your character strong will make u proud
Burned out from playing WoW cause of the extensive raiding sched. Now that we got Cutting Edge, imma try other game, thanks for the list...looking at GW 2 atm, wish me luck!!
That was a very fair and interesting assessment. I'm glad Eve Echoes didn't get a mention because in my experience that could be a different kettle of fish compared to Eve Online, but I haven't played EO for many years.
When i started playing OSRS 2 month ago, i was confused by camera movements and controls, but now i think that it's easily the greatest MMORPG game ever created
I've been playing Albion Online for 5 years and I still don't get bored of this game. Economy, PVP, PVE .. everything is at the best level. I invite all new players to the world of AO!
Trash game as f. Played it for 3 months, got my First premium in 20 days , the pvp Is like rock paper scissors, all about meta and counters( dont talk about swaps , i dont want start to laugh) people are forced to play same builds in zvz or Avalon or whatever, if a player want to play all the game with a sword simply he cant cause people will just say no: you dont have 3000 different specs with 3000 different items and swaps gne gne gne... Bro ☠️
Guild Wars 1 is also alive and even ramping up in Player-base. arenanet told that they as of now plan to keep the servers up indefinitely. Speciality: The Class- and Build-System is in my opinion one if not THE best of all MMORPGs I have experienced in my life.
I've played so many over the years, but the one that really stands out for me is Guild Wars 2. The freedom of what your character can do is just awesome. Almost any class can tank or heal or DPS depending on their gear and talent build. Something most other MMOs like WoW lost long ago.
I mean, that sounds neat on paper, but in reality it's a mess. Like, nobody actually builds for tanking in GW2. "Tank" is not a role. You have supports and dps. And most "tanks" are just supports. It's also a balance nightmare, because you have things like Firebrand and Scourge that are just good at everything and they make many other builds irrelevant. And there are no hardset roles to even things out either.
@@MonKey-hd1gf Very true, but when compared to WoW and FFXIV, it is a lot more flexible. FFXIV, although a great story, your character is designed for 1 thing, and 1 thing only.
I must say, Dragonflight is the most fun I had on WoW ever. Been playing for over a decade, and played the HECK out of TBC classic, and as much fun as it was (and still is) to experience the old content and style of the game, the fresh air and content of the new xpac is by far the best the game has to offer so far.
Well structured video, congrats! As you ask at the end, none of this really matters. If a person is in to the game really dont care about the numbers. I started playing WoW around 2006/2007 and since then for me this is the best MMORPG game ever to exist. But now, so many years are past and my daily routine is full of more important goals, so I dont have the spare time to go continue playing sucha "hourly demand game". SWTOR was a game that actually was really good. But since im a social guy, my friends didnt had the "hype" as I did soo I quit it early on. I'm a huge fan of space, but EVE for some reason I felt way too much complicated for a game. Lost ark has insane battle system and defenetly looks really damn cool, but has probably the worst leveling experiance out there. I played it on the russians servers years a go and i expected it with so passion to come in Europe. Since it came 2 months were enough to actually quit the game.
swtor after the base game grows more and more into a singleplayer game with hub based multiplayer feature... i think thats important to differentiate for players that look for an mmorpg
The Wow Classic servers seem to be dead a few months after launching, which really sucks because that means you have to be there on launch day to even see other players running around. They're absolute ghost towns now.
BDO deserved most improve MMORPG since pearl abyss took over super DEEP and grindy but me and my friends love it and there working on PVE. hopefully Thrones of liberty is good. They have done a good job removing a lot of the P2W aspects also so as a F2P player you can still enjoy yourself and not fall to far behind if your willing to grind
@@CoverageGlitch Just have to take your time and watch TH-cam videos it’s a slow grind but if you don’t like farming mobs it may not be for you but the life skills are the best in the genre there’s always something to do in the game. But I get why some don’t like it the UI can be overwhelming
You have two side the whales that supply the market for f2p players and f2p players buying them. The game has become a lot less p2w and theirs more than just pve. The world is your oyster on bdo. Came bak to bdo after 5 year break and still love the game. Youre playing at your own pace within the game. People need to understand how does a game make revenue to bring out more content within a game to keep it going.

i've started playing BDO like 3 weeks ago and damn, it's a HUGE surprise. Loving it so far, best graphics, best combat, wonderful world. They also give you so much items for free (including outfits) that will save you weeks of grinding. Totally worth it!
lol you will see soon. most people quit after 3-4 weeks. Grind too long with NOTHING to do with that power. u just grind endlessly and PVP only to get 1 shot by whales and mega hardcores and literally nnothing else. unless u want to play for the cosmetics and fishing, which majority of players do, but theres nothing to do.
Been playing WoW and Albion on and off for years to scratch my MMO PvP itch but ive recently picked up BDO and am enjoying it so far, im not hopeful for my future in it though due to the grind ive heard about... But im enjoying the journey so far and thats all that matters for me at the moment.
Looking for a time filler and thinking about picking up BDO myself. Not trying to sweat grind or anything but the life skills and sheer size of the world has me interested with a minimal barrier to entry. Anything specifically I should know before jumping in?
@@mmuscat Even as a lifeskiller, how much you enjoy your main class will be a big factor in how much you want to play. Doesn't matter what you enjoy about it--the combat, the attack effects, the movement, the outfits, how big you can make the...height...--just play a class you enjoy. Also, when you jump in, you'll be given two choices for main story. Choose Ancient Stone Chamber as a brand new player, and then when you just want to level additional players, choose Mountain of Eternal Winter. The former will introduce you to the lore, take you around the continent, have you grind mobs here and there, and give you a ton of stuff, but it will take you a few days of playing to complete; the latter is more for levelling new characters very quickly--you don't go to too many places, it's a more self-contained story, and you hardly fight anything (maybe three or four fights before the every end), but you can get through with it in mere hours if you skip dialogue.
@@CreepyBlackDude Thank you so much for the detailed reply! Glad to see the game is also somewhat alt friendly. How is the respec mechanic? As a newer player sometimes I worry about making a wrong choice I can't recover from.
I'm reading a lot of comments about how people really dislike the predatory aspects of Lost Ark. But I still believe to this day that it is the best designed MMO currently out there. That's from someone with 10k+ hours in a range of different MMO's ranging from Maplestory, Runescape, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Lost Ark, and a couple lesser known titles. I spent 12+ hours a day for the first 3 months getting sucked into this game that I thoroughly enjoyed. At first I took my time exploring a bit, but quickly I had the thought of how cool it would be to rush to the end game and be one of the first people with access to the hardest content and best gear. So I spent the next 3 months doing every single daily, weekly, and horizontal content along the way to progress my account as far as I could, so I could stay ahead of the curve. But when my friend with only 2 characters would get insanely lucky with some of his weapon upgrades, (failing only once from +17 to +20), while I pitied twice (from +18 to +20), the game all just seemed like a waste of time. What's the point of playing all these hours and putting all this work into something when someone who puts in a fraction of the effort gets way more lucky? (But then I remember games like Maplestory and Black Desert Online exist. Where you can literally boom a piece of equipment that you've been working on for the past year and have to start over completely) at least pity exists in Lost Ark. That's when I took a very long break over the next 8 months. I would only log in like once every 2 weeks to see if there were any good event rewards. When I came back I slowly eased myself back into the daily routine, but now I no longer have that FOMO of having to do every single time gated task. I play at my OWN pace. I might not be up to the current content, but I'm enjoying my time learning the easier Legion Raids. The most fun I've had playing this game was during that first week or two where everyone was still inexperienced and struggling with running the first few Abyssal Dungeons. Now people expect you to play frame perfectly and will gatekeep errors of any kind. If there is any problem with the game, it is the community IMO. The problem is that people gatekeep because they don't want to spend 8 hours clearing 1 raid, but I think that is a part of the process. If you want to bypass this, form a static. Problem solved. But I think learning a raid and going through a progression party is a rewarding experience. The game offers everything that a traditional RPG would. The only thing that is lacking a bit is the world building and areas not having a reason to explore after a day's worth of play time. There is a ton of horizontal content that gives you various rewards, albeit they might not directly help you with upgrading your gear, but they will help your overall account's progress. People were mentioning HAVING to play 20 different alts to keep up with the current player. And to that, I say so what? Don't feel the urge to have to do everything possible. PLAY AT YOUR OWN PACE. The way Lost Ark is designed is that the later into the game we get, the harder it is going to be to upgrade your gear to reach the newest content. By that logic, once these people have reached the absolute latest content, they're stuck. And you're going to CATCH UP. Imagine you in your 1997 Honda Civic and a brand new Lamborghini are at a red light and it turns green. The Lamborghini floors it and reaches the next red light and looks over at you smugly with his look of superiority as you catch up to him a couple seconds later. You guys are literally both at the same place. See how ridiculous it sounds? Anyways if anyone actually read all of this, respect.
I play SWTOR currently. There is nowhere near 10k users playing. At peak times there’s probably 2-300 players on both factions. The game is unfortunately dead. Can’t get in ops groups, master mode FP you’ll be waiting an hour or longer in a queue, for someone to leave instantly if they get in a flashpoint they don’t want to do. Most players are bots farming money to sell online. PvP you can be waiting upwards of 30 mins to get into a regular group. Star fighter don’t even bother with. Uprisings, GL getting a group outside of veteran. It’s a really good game but unfortunately the marketing has been awful for it so it’s getting no new subscribers
I've played ESO since release, and the game is a completely different game now. They got rid of so much stuff that people hated and redid everything and it's great now. I absolutely love the game and it has one of the best Player Housing systems I have ever seen. (Edit!) Also ESO has some of the best stories and quests I've ever played and there's so much to do and explore. They have lots of fun little hidden things to find on the map too. Console has voice chat as well which is a hoot. Character customization is great on ESO as well. The raids in the game are super fun as well.
@@Braidas personally, seeing as they added a way to earn in-game currency and use it on crown crate items for specific things you want, and that they also expanded the items in the store that can be gifted the Crown store is way better than it was. It's very free-to-play friendly now since you can trade gold for a lot of the items in it now. Most guilds have verified or insured crown sellers that make it easy to buy the crown stuff with gold. I think eso xbox has a very healthy ecosystem in that regard.
Thanks hugely for all the videos Peon, you're a solid CC. I heavily recommend Neverwinter currently, but I'm one of those who can't get into tab targeting. Almost chose to go back to Lost Ark though.
I played Neverwinter for a few years daily, it is a good game, but sadly the game development has gone down hill as they are more about the new players now and kick the old loyal players in the teeth, this is why i got tired of it and hardly play it anymore, and why a lot of the big original players also quit it, but it still has a spot in my heart.
Lost ark is a MMORPG but you still end up feeling lonely in game. I think it's because u don't need anyone during lvl up (only in end-game content for dungeons and raids) but you don't get to make bonds with people. End game is boring because u get stuck doing a daily raid and chaos on like 5 different characters. And if u leave.....you will be sooooo behind when you return.
I quit WoW for a while, and when I got the itch I started playing GW2, it’s amazing. HOWEVER…. it doesn’t work on Mac, so when I got my new MBAM1 I went back to WoW at the launch of Dragonflight. I will say, the new expansion is awesome and I am having fun on WoW again.
After watching Bofuri, I'm kind of sad that no other MMOs are as socially active (yes some have lively world chats, but rarely ever in person, so to speak), or have devs that hold events regularly that actually give out rewards that are worth playing for. Take GW2 for example. Every event pretty much just gives you scraps - and the game's regular content already give you scraps. Like okay cool... Also what happened to MMOs that let you assign skill points like RO? Some MMOs are on the right track like New World, but it doesn't feel like it has much impact on diversity...
I think GW2 have more than that reasoning you are a new player who can still find people doing content with you , yea mostly high level players but there are still people trying the game newbies and almost everywhere around the game have people , yea mega server and game keeps switching you to alive places but for a game to have raids pvp world vs world fractals and dungeons always people doing them at the same time it should have more than at least 200k
Not to mention that GW2Efficiency has 380k registered accounts with more that 70% of them having 500+ hrs of game time. We could argue that newbies and total casuals don't know about it or use it. That puts the active player base around your estimation for sure, if not more. Plus, Peon didn't mention GW2Efficiency so we could assume he is also one of those that are playing sporadically but don't use it. Imagine how many more we don't take into consideration. I have been playing for years and the game is packed even on major holidays like Christmas and New Years Eve. To believe that New World has almost double the players is laughable.
I would love to know how you did your estimations for the concurrent players. I would say you hit the mark on most of them, but can't help to notice that some others feel really lowballed. For instance, gw2's 50k concurrent players seems really small comparing with many sources I visited.
Gimme the source for „50k concurrent players“ Anet never ever dropped anywhere how many people are playing and even if you would guess it’s way above the 1mil. Count, Anet confirmed since EoD they had over 10million active accounts( and don’t come at me with the alt account or bot thing since it still wouldn’t add up than)
@@themaniac8596 he overestimated every game by some margin. Each ffxiv server can hold 7k players before the servers explode. 7000×69 and that is including OCE servers that are dead
I was expecting to see Albion on this list. I don't play it but I did try it for a couple of hours and no matter where I was the place was brimming with hundreds of players. Its cross-platform nature is probably the reason why.

What we get from this video is that most MMORPGs that are decent enough for us to try were released 10-15 years ago... That says a lot....
Why exactly do you have to run 20 thousand alts? For the gear based PVP islands or what? I haven't played in months.
I would absolutely love to see a huge massive open world, mmorpg, lotr style game with giant community, factions and lore where the players make the story and events. Like an alternative fantasy reality.
Basically you want WoW but with less toxic people?
so, you want EVE Online but fantasy

For Lost Ark, with a clear mind, I regret every second I put into it from start to finish.
what is your main ilevel ? lol
Still the best I've ever played. Not for the feint of heart.
At the end, the game design needs revamp.
why don't you try to make your own party i never got gatekeep even on ilevel

I've returned to the game recently and started playing with my gf (who hasn't really played MMOs that much in the past) and she's been loving every bit of the atmosphere, gameplay and things to do. The Community is really wholesome and everyone's just up to help. Just yesterday I had some guy try and help me beat a Boss for 30mins straight - even tho he gained nothing from it. Game's still active too, can definetly recommend.
Is Gw2 playable on mobile
@@_Crimson._ Direct answer: No. Indirect Answer: You could potentially use GeForce Now (Cloud Gaming) to play it from your phone or an old laptop or anything. :D
GW2 is the game to go spending free time in if you’re adult swamped in vertical progression in real life. Try hards find it boring because you can only grind so much dailies and power creep is mostly skill-dependent
given all the praise I tried a bit of GW2, it just didn't "catch" my interest
Can easily recommend GW2 for anyone new to the genre or looking for something different done right. Such a high quality game.
Played wow and black desert for years, I concur, gw2 has this certain quality that makes you feels like the game is a virtual home, where you can relax and have fun, no grindy obligation and certainly not a loot-hamster wheel system.
My #1 recommendation as well!
it is the most underrated mmo in my opinion. Even tough it is popular, it deserves so much more popularity.
I think WoW still on the top.
as a new-ish player, the one thing i never really liked was the weird cutscene dialogues that are used for the vanilla game. it felt like the pacing was way too slow as the dialogue would briefly pause whenever another character had to fade onto screen before their corresponding audio would play. i never got around to finishing the personal story because of it, so i skipped it, watched a youtube summary about what happened and went into heart of thorns. i've just started end of dragons and gw2 has already earned a spot in my top 3 mmorpgs.
Lost Ark got old fast. I hate feeling forced to play 7 alts just to keep up with spenders. I quit that so fast. I like 1 main and 2 alts to chill.
Nice to see Settled mentioned in the video. I haven't actively played OSRS before, but his videos are still some of the most entertaining on youtube for me, since he's great at explaining everything even to somebody who's never played it.
same actually never played OSRS but I watch his videos. Him and J1mmy
@@WhiteSector who are you talking to?
If you want some amazing Osrs content. All 3 seasons of Gilinor Games are incredible! Season 3 is still on going and it's been incredibly fun. It's alot of Osrs TH-camrs competing.
I think Runescape3's biggest upside is its end-game PvM if you get there. It has such a high skill ceiling with very interesting interactions and ways to outplay bosses to become a better player. The problem is that this takes hundreds of hours at least to reach and then hundreds more to fully gear out. And that is in a non ironman mode
Those are the games I love. An open world online game with an insane skill ceiling.

Fr Settled’s UIM Tileman made me create an UIM but shortly after I realized I don’t have as much time as him to play the game and am thinking of switching to regular IM

@@TheLazyPeon you should watch the recent escape room thats been popping in the osrs community, those are GREAT
Totally agree, OSRS content creation is top notch and almost feels like undeserved to be blessed with such.

I think the segment about GW2 could've been more interesting. ANet disclosed a few hints at where the player base is at right now and it would've been more interesting to theorize based on that.
1. Currently the player base exceeded HoT launch numbers. Maybe with a bit of research we could've found out what the numbers were back then, do an estimate based on that
Anet thinks every account made to grab daily rewards is a new player. Nothing doubled lmao.
Some comments from Grouch and the Studio Update mentioned:
The games population has doubled in the last couple of years.
"This year we’ve already seen more players venture into Tyria for the first time since 2015." (December 14, 2022)
EoD outsold PoF. (You don't buy EoD if the only thing you are after is login rewards)
And there were more players playing in the weeks leading up to the Steam launch than there were at the EoD launched.
I think? But the VERY basic and generic bow abilities i got to level with blew so hard i didnt even make it past level 40. I did main GW1 for Years way back, so GW2 was a step back for me.

The "big" 10th anniversary was an absolute joke and all the content that's been released since Jan 2022 was supposed to be included in the 7.0 release so we aren't even getting new content, not to mention the removal of ranked PVP because the crybaby population was whining about "toxic" players.

Lost ark was one of my favorite gaming experiences when they just released. Great story and end game content. I remembered when everyone was struggling against the 4th guardian (forgot the name) and the feeling of beating it was just amazing.

100% agree about GW2. All things considered, number 1 mmorpg out there.
the one thing I just can't get into with GW2 is the lack of vertical progression. My favorite period of any MMO is the launch where everyone is progressing on an even playing field. The progression part is the most fun part of an MMO for me.

Hey Peon! You missed a very old and popular MMO-RPG called Tibia. Would be absolutely amazing if you did a video of that game!
Good video. Greetings!!
Wow a ftp player 0: 😮idk how much I’ve spent in bdo ever since I returned to the game lol 🥹
You'll get killed by p2wers pretty much all the time :)
Edit:
Also pets is one of the most important there is since they pick up the loot automatically so u dont have to get there and collect all the time manually.
The fact that there is rp like fallout or Witcher and different kind of stories for each classes made me engage in the game a lot more than other mmos.
it's absolutely worth playing through, even if you treat it like a solo story RPG
i wish swtor was made recently, such a good game. But it is aging
GW2 is a great game but the horizontal progression Def makes it feel like there is an overwhelming amount of content sometimes. Def go in with the idea that it's a marathon and not a sprint.
At least you feel rewarded for what you grind. That Skyscale sure is worth the grind and don't get me started on the convenience of legendaries...
I hope their next stop is PvP though.
aaaand now it will be modernized@@LouieNJ
Hey Peon do you think you'll make more videos about your life in thailand down the road? Really enjoyed that style of video :)
Was about to ask the same. Was a very nice series tbh.
Yes, I think I've got the footage to make another one now, will make one soon
@@TheLazyPeon a while ago you asked your viewers to keep you to your word about a fitness journey, saying you'd have a six pack. So how's it going? Did you achieve your goal?

ur i like to see that as well
I want to get into BDO but I always feel so overwhelmed by all the different items you get, and I have no idea what the heck all that crap is even for. What to save, what not to save, etc.
BDO is a deep game and overwhelming but take your time watch some youtube videos the games super fun but GRINDY
Just about all your questions can be answered by one of the best TH-cam content providers for the game - Evil Do Us Harm. He has LOTS (over 50?) of videos that are professionally presented and very informative. He cares about the game and has provided me tons of worthwhile information and how tos.
I wish a game like old Ragnarok Online would come out nowadays. That was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in the genre.
if you want to play in a private server or smtng try NovaRO
Same! There was an actual community feeling to it, I dont get that at all with all the new mmorpgs
Albion Online

I bought new world for 20 dollars last month and I’ve been really digging it.
same, I really like it
It is good. 2k hours in this game and still counting. However I should say there arent many content to do in end game, but there are some hopes as devs working on new content and at some point listening to the comunity.
@@dylan538 too bad, the devs team are dog shiet....
Yesterday Lost ark banned 200k + Bots btw so the numbers now are on the average of 80k
In the current pool of playable MMOs, it may very well have the brightest path ahead of it.
ive played OSRS since 2013 and still not even close to being done. If you can look past the graphics, the game is amazing.
Agreed.
yeah its overall good, but without inventory & itemslot expansions, its gets "overfloweing" really fast!
and the inventory management isnt the best tbh!
but still fun overall!
So if new world has 45k online at once it could certainly have 10x that in total daily players as most people aren’t going to be online all day
Yeah and could be that there are private servers outside steam that steam isn't taking into account?
GW2 and FF14 are my cozy homes 👍
How’s the controller support for gw2 ?
for me cozy home was archeage. I downloaded it to nostalgia, but felt only sadness because of emptiness of servers
Seriously can't recommend enough!
fkn GW2 shills spamming the mmorpg videos...gtfo
Is it playable on mobile2
i never like mmorpg genre simply bcoz of typical mmo one click it plays itself. but when i dscovered albion online, man the full loot pvp is so addicting. the adrenaline rush will make your heart explode. you feel so good yourself that all of those hours days weeks and months you play in pve just to make your character strong will make u proud
Burned out from playing WoW cause of the extensive raiding sched.
Now that we got Cutting Edge, imma try other game, thanks for the list...looking at GW 2 atm, wish me luck!!
With BDO I think it's the opposite of what you said: If you don't invest any money on it you enjoy it way more.
That was the most cringe ad I’ve ever witnessed
That was a very fair and interesting assessment. I'm glad Eve Echoes didn't get a mention because in my experience that could be a different kettle of fish compared to Eve Online, but I haven't played EO for many years.
you never fall behind in gw2 because you also never get ahead. if you've played it you know what i'm talking about.
When i started playing OSRS 2 month ago, i was confused by camera movements and controls, but now i think that it's easily the greatest MMORPG game ever created

Bro ☠️
new world has 3-4k players per day rn
dead game sad
Guild Wars 1 is also alive and even ramping up in Player-base. arenanet told that they as of now plan to keep the servers up indefinitely.
Speciality: The Class- and Build-System is in my opinion one if not THE best of all MMORPGs I have experienced in my life.
I've played so many over the years, but the one that really stands out for me is Guild Wars 2. The freedom of what your character can do is just awesome. Almost any class can tank or heal or DPS depending on their gear and talent build. Something most other MMOs like WoW lost long ago.
sadly only in open world or dungeons, Raids and high fractals require meta builds otherwise you will be kicked
@@rclines001 Huh? One character can have multiple other classes in one.
It's not something other mmos lost, its something other mmost dont want :p
They have done a good job removing a lot of the P2W aspects also so as a F2P player you can still enjoy yourself and not fall to far behind if your willing to grind
i really wanna get to BDO but its so grindy i wish i could enjoy like you and your friends
@@CoverageGlitch Just have to take your time and watch TH-cam videos it’s a slow grind but if you don’t like farming mobs it may not be for you but the life skills are the best in the genre there’s always something to do in the game. But I get why some don’t like it the UI can be overwhelming
But BDO is more of an RPG and less of an MMO, I think it shouldn't be called an MMORPG to begin with.
@@Bankhiet I didn't enjoy the BDO leveling experience. 1-50 is just destroy village after village. Why even bother with the 1-50, when the game hasn't really started at that point? I don't play mmo's just for endgame content.
Awesome list! Great games. You are honest about the data and where is comes from (or doesn't come from). all together, excellent commentary with great visuals!
Thanks for the list! I play WoW mostly (fantastic game), and dip my toes into other MMORPGs here and there. Trying GW2 atm and it's pretty amazing so far!

My most played mmo: WoW
My favorite mmo: ESO
My feel good mmo: OSRS or GW2
My most recommended mmo to play: FF14 online
Have played ff14 online and do like it but doesn’t keep my attention, the MSQ is super long and I get bored, when I finally complete the MSQ I’ll likely enjoy ff14 a lot more
FF14 and Gw2 are the games i keep coming back and still enjoy..i want to play lost ark but its not available here
i've started playing BDO like 3 weeks ago and damn, it's a HUGE surprise.
@@derekinfinite8859 Thats the same with every end game for MMO's though. You gonna complain water is wet next too?

yea i picked it up again as well and grind is insane. u either gotta be a whale of money or time. Game's fun tho
Looking for a time filler and thinking about picking up BDO myself. Not trying to sweat grind or anything but the life skills and sheer size of the world has me interested with a minimal barrier to entry. Anything specifically I should know before jumping in?
@@mmuscat Do season, pick class that you like the most. Dont bother with rankings, too far for you
@@mmuscat Even as a lifeskiller, how much you enjoy your main class will be a big factor in how much you want to play.
Can't thank you enough. I always enjoy your videos. And will give lost ark a try. Cheers mate. And thank you again for your continued content.
I've played ESO since release, and the game is a completely different game now. They got rid of so much stuff that people hated and redid everything and it's great now. I absolutely love the game and it has one of the best Player Housing systems I have ever seen. (Edit!)
Also ESO has some of the best stories and quests I've ever played and there's so much to do and explore. They have lots of fun little hidden things to find on the map too. Console has voice chat as well which is a hoot. Character customization is great on ESO as well. The raids in the game are super fun as well.
A lot of things got better, a lot of things got worse. Especially the cash shop and combat

Dragonflight been insane. Moreover, the simple addition of an expansion road map shows Blizz cares
They care now because the money cownwas about to die dry ...
And if u leave.....you will be sooooo behind when you return.
peon still got some strong feelings regarding BDO ^^
OSRS is the best off all of them. It really has everything
Correction! 16:32 FFXIV no longer supports PS3. Only playable on PC, MAC PS4 and 5 currently.
Correct ^ +There is a possibility that PS4 support will get dropped with the new Graphic Engine Overhaul. :o
judging by the replay markers, I would say none of this matters
Some MMOs are on the right track like New World, but it doesn't feel like it has much impact on diversity...
is bofuri an anime with the anime girl being a tanker?
@@VSpartan117 I can't agree more.
I would love to know how you did your estimations for the concurrent players. I would say you hit the mark on most of them, but can't help to notice that some others feel really lowballed. For instance, gw2's 50k concurrent players seems really small comparing with many sources I visited.
Agreed. Taking a slightly different angle - Albion having more players than OSRS...? Hmmm.
Gimme the source for „50k concurrent players“ Anet never ever dropped anywhere how many people are playing and even if you would guess it’s way above the 1mil. Count, Anet confirmed since EoD they had over 10million active accounts( and don’t come at me with the alt account or bot thing since it still wouldn’t add up than)
hes pulling numbers out of his ass, he has no fucking idea
@@themaniac8596 he overestimated every game by some margin. Each ffxiv server can hold 7k players before the servers explode.
7000×69 and that is including OCE servers that are dead
I was expecting to see Albion on this list. I don't play it but I did try it for a couple of hours and no matter where I was the place was brimming with hundreds of players. Its cross-platform nature is probably the reason why.
