      "Mad Dog" Curtis said it best at the end-"lucky that we won". PS he should have been MVP-caused fumble by Duane Thomas at Colts goal line (the one Manders recovered but officials said Colts recovered) when Dallas TD makes it 20-6, then with just over 1 minute left in 4th quarter, makes INT as shown here to set up O'Brien's winning FG.

      Curtis also said that there was a lot of pressure on both teams. The Cowboys being in their first SB and the Colts because they had to avoid what happened in SB III. But still far too many mistakes were made in this game. Curtis should’ve won MVP as he had the play of the game but the voters were just astounded by what they’ve seen that they said you know what lets award one of the losers with it

    The Kyle Turley bit they showed, he reacted that way in defense of a teammate who had been tackled, was down with opponents on his lower back, and an opposing player had his arm under that teammate’s head and was driving with his legs trying to bend the guy’s back and injure him. Turley’s teammate was literally screaming in pain and Turley came to his defense, and l had and still have absolutely no problem with him attacking that guy, ripping his helmet off and doing what he did. Honestly the guy who tried to purposely injure the Saints player is the one who should have been suspended and fined. If this had happened on Bourbon St the police would have shaken Turley’s hand and told him “Good job, way to go”.

    Look at Luckett’s conversation with Cowher. It’s a little hard to hear him, but he told Cowher precisely what the amplified audio shows. He told Cowher that Bettis said “headtails”. Luckett was absolutely correct and he made the proper call on the coin flip. Absolutely correct.
    Luckett was also correct on the Music City Miracle. I understand why some people think otherwise, because of the position of the players. But there IS one angle right down the yard line. The ball CLEARLY goes backwards, if only by a few inches.
    Poor Phil Luckett. Right on ALL of these calls and made out to be the bad guy. The ONLY bad call shown in the Luckett series was, as the video points out, not even his call. He didn’t make it.
    Not one single “foul up” by Luckett. (I’m sure he made some. Every official does. But nothing in this video.) He doesn’t even belong on this list. Coin flip? He was right. Music City Miracle? He was right. Why is he being demonized? Zero foul-ups in this video. So, he doesn’t belong on the list. He got everything right that was shown here. It’s just sore loser Pittsburgh and Bills fans that believe otherwise. Whiners. They’re wrong. Luckett was right.

      Ooh, if we had teams on the list of foul-ups, your Falcons would be some way back - you have the Detroit Lions since 1958 (when they traded Bobby Layne) and the New York Jets since 1976 (due to gross incompetence).

  • @MRB16th
    @MRB16th 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    With #10, the Falcons quarterbacks in 1974 would be on my list as well. Not only did they finish bottom of every offensive category that year, but the QBs were sacked 50 times in 430 plays with two Pro Bowlers as offensive linemen: Norm Van Brocklin should have made a comeback at the age of 48.
    Rudd, Freotte and other boneheaded celebrations and helmet throwing incidents have entries on my extended list, along with Bill Grammatica celebrating a first-quarter field goal and wrecking his ACL (ending his season), various kickers' blown clutch kick attempts (these have its own entry), Red Right 88, the Colts' flea-flicker in Super Bowl III, Washington's flea-flicker on Monday Night Football in 1985 (which ended Joe Theismann's career), Seattle not running the ball in Super Bowl XLIX, Bob Griese getting sacked for a 29 yard loss in Super Bowl VI, Art Modell's failed attempt to move the Browns to Baltimore, and the Butt Fumble, while Leon Lett gets two separate entries.
    Also, I agree with Abner Haynes being excluded from the list, as he only delayed the Texans' celebrations (rather than causing their cancellation).

    • @booradley6832
      @booradley6832 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Grammatica's acl was highly indicative of him having severe strain to begin with. Its not like his celebration was wild, or even excessive at all.... he hopped once. Generally you're going to hop once on a follow through from a kick too. If you're a pro athlete and outside of your usable skills is "propel self less than 3 feet into the air" something is very wrong.
      Also how did Art Modell fail to move the Browns to Baltimore? He brought his franchise here. Baltimore REFUSED to take the Browns' name, history and records. We know what its like, when Irsay flew in the middle of the night on the Mayflower truck. Believe it or not, Baltimore was actually concerned about the fate of Cleveland. We didnt want to be the reason that another long time football city had no team for the foreseeable future. There was a lot of trepidation here about it until we found out that an expansion team was going to Cleveland soon after anyway. Since Modell obviously wasnt happy there it just wasnt going to work. With that in mind, we took his franchise, Cleveland got a new one(and stadium which was the start of the problems to begin with) and everyone ended up better overall.
      Do I think our goodwill towards Cleveland would have stopped the team from coming here? Not a chance. But I also think a fair amount of fans would have boycotted the team until the Browns got one back, out of principle. I learned to hate Irsay before I understood the rules of football, the hurt is deep here. Unitas wont even acknowledge Indianapolis as the Colts.

    -Bret Favre's interception vs the Saints, 2009 season
    -Cody Parkey, double doink
    -The NFL for allowing slit film synthetic turf, the NFL for over painting the turf for the super bowl between Eagles vs Chiefs
    -Minnesota Miracle (that Saints defender didnt tackle)
    -Seahawks not running the ball with Marshawn Lynch on 3rd and goal at the 1 vs Patriots
    -Falcons not know the onside kick rules vs the Cowboys
    -the antics of Antonio Brown

    Greg Cosell is confused. The Atlanta Falcons went 4-8-2, 7-6-1, 7-7 and 9-5 from 1970 to 1973 - the early 70s. They weren't great by any measure, but none of those teams was truly bad. The 1970 Falcons were the last NFL team to play back-to-back ties. Only the 1974 and 1976 teams were genuinely putrid.
    Gary Anderson's miss was forgivable in light of everything else he did. Lest ye forget, the Falcons that year were 14-2 and won 11 straight coming into the Super Bowl, beating the snot out of some pretty good teams along the way. Dan Reeves is a HOF coach.
    Joe Gibbs is also a HOF coach. Joe Theismann is NOT a HOF QB, and part of the reason for that is encapsulated in how he threw Gibbs under the bus in #5. Theismann threw a back-breaking pick-six and then blamed Gibbs? How about Theismann's an asshole?
    Dead square on SB5. That game was awful in just about every phase except one, and that was in the redemption of Jim o'Brien, who totally deserved it.
    Another HOF guy, Jimmy Johnson, stood up for Leon Lett on a play where even I knew you don't touch the ball. Kudos.
    33:15 The Pop Warner quote made me laugh... I was on the defensive side when an opposing QB pulled a Griese and we sacked him for - I shit ye not - a 55-yard loss. We then proceeded to sack the kid again for a safety on the next play (3rd and about 62).
