Zona you are absolutely the very best. I would buy water from you in a rain storm. Best content out there. My home lakes are Havasu, Mohave, and Mead. Every video you make helps me to put more fish in the boat. Especially the smallmouth stuff. You and Hackney are the funniest human beings on the planet.
@Robert Francola- I've fished those lakes extensively- had a Red Man event on Mojave cancelled for wind. If you've never been down to Martinez, you need to check it out.
Right on. I agree. I fell in love with swimjigs again last year. I don't think I was on the water once when one wasn't tied on. Been throwing more swimbait trailers on them though. You throw them in the dirtiest of water? That's about the only time I find them sitting on the deck and not being chucked.
thank you for the warm/cold water tip. just recently got into jigs and this makes a lot of sense as to why when i tried them in the past i didn’t do well. now i have actually been producing fish.
I just caught a nice probably close to 3 lber on a black b blue swim jig with a green pumpkin blue adrenaline craw. Water was colder than 50 ° and it worked !!! Then this video pops up after lol. Good info 👍
Love the video I just recently started throwing a swim jig this year and I have fell in love with it. It's one of my favorite lures. Live the video and your shop is nice to.
I always have my bluegill and shad colored swimjigs with me year round those 2 poles 2 soft plastic topwater/jerkbait and I'm good to go top to bottom clear or stained I'm good.....obviously I throw other stuff but those are my confidence baits especially the bluegill swimjig vertical rigged trailer
Great video Mark. I live in NY and fish a lot of our NYC water reservoirs, which are very clear water. I seem to do better with a swimbait type trailer like a Gambler Little EZ, which with its tail makes the swimjig rock side to side more. I never do as will with a craw type trailer. Any thoughts?
THANKS Z, I'm getting ready for a tournament in August at lake Oconee here in Georgia, I fish the FLW BFL Phoenix Bass Fishing League in the Bulldog Division and I will be using a swimjig, either white, ir bluegill, which would you use
I drew Dee Thomas during the U.S. Bass Open in '98. We fished the Colorado River arm of Lake Meade. The surface temperature where we were that day was over 100 degrees. So, yes, it is possible.
I know what technique I’m gonna be fishing this week that looks like so much fun these are some of the best videos out there awesome Z keep them common man so in the cold do you hug the bottom more in the warmer it is the higher in the water table you are I hope that makes sense
I was hooked on a swim jig for a few years, then once I got to Flippin, pitching and punching I got sway from it but last season I started throwing it again and soon realized I was leaving ALOT OF FISH BEHIND! That will not ever happen again. Lol
the bass are moving up and some are on beds now at my lake. Would you use a swim jig to fan cast around spawning shallows? Also can i use the swim jig like a regular jig and hop it on bottom through grass?
I’m in south Florida and I tear them up on a swim jig in the winter but here in the summer they don’t touch moving baits. It’s way too hot. Most ponds don’t have shade lines either.
Basically I use very natural colors the majority of the time. Black has it's place - white has it's place but for the most part I want natural colors like green pumpkin which tends to work in almost all water colors and conditions.
Been doing this for two years, totally agree with the hookset. If you hit em as soon as you feel them thump it you'll lose every one of them. Also. I use a green pumpkin rage swimmer a lot. The menace is what I turn to most of the time but the swimmer is a great option
I do but not in extremely shallow water - I tend to use swim bait style trailers when I fish a little deeper. Don’t get me wrong, they work in most situations shallow or deep.
Hey Zona, love your show as well as love your channel here keep em' coming!!! I do have a question for you what was the knot that you tied on your swim jig in the video clip and can you possibly through it in a link or maybe one the chances you get in a how to with some DIRT thrown in?
Awesome video can't beat a swim jig
Mark Zona is the only person I trust to tell me about fishing techniques more then our patron saint of bass, KVD.
Thank you!

Thank you mark. I dont have a whole lot of confidence in a jig. Maybe this will help.
Love a damn good swim jig bite! Nice trailer tips, love the parallel rage grub... paddle tail swimbaits on the back of a sim jig are good too
Very good on swim jigs. Thanks for the advice and help.
Thanks I've struggled with swim jigs. This is the kind of video I like. Information without getting hammered with sponsor plugs. Good job Mark!
What a great video! Thanks for posting this 👍🎣
Hey Z, Loved this episode on our favorite bait the swim Jig!!!
Keep em coming bro. BBF (Big Bass Forever)
Great video Z! I like the idea about turning the trailer sideways to look more like a bluegill!
Awesome video great tips thanks for sharing

Wow, thanks!

Great video!!! I have never fished swim jigs but will be learning this bait/technique in the coming weeks....
Good luck!
Yes 100 degree water is a thing we have a lake near me that goes over 100 degrees every summer and yes swim jigs work year round in it.

First video I've watched of yours. Within 5 seconds I went from "this guy seems weird" to "this guy seems awesome!" Lmao great video. Subbed
Keep the video’s going 👍🏽
What episode is that catch at. 4:20 into the vid? Ive been trying to find that episode for years now. Please help me out

Blue gill or golden shiner. Remember this match the hatch . you will catch a lot of fish if you match the hatch.
@@jeremycarpenter5550 Got it THANKS

He learned a lot from a lot of different pros 👍
Great stuff. Curious though about rod action and jig weight in cold vs warmer water.
Same rod action but the colder the water the slower you want your swim jig to be moving. I prefer a 1/4 oz when it's in the 40's.
Loved the info on swim jigs... cold water less action, warmer water more action. What kind of a knot was that you were tying on that swim jig?
I call it a shark knot. We will be doing a video on it soon.
Triple hondo
Great video Z

Generally the best principle to live by is colder slower - warmer faster
Hey Mark, Love your videos. Was wondering what size Menace Grub you use for the 3/8 oz swim jigs, 3" or 3.5"?
Lov'in The Dirt Z ~ MI Brown Bass Mutants choke a properly presented Swim jig. Keep'em coming !

What are your staple swimjig colors Zona?? When do you throw what??
I was hooked on a swim jig for a few years, then once I got to Flippin, pitching and punching I got sway from it but last season I started throwing it again and soon realized I was leaving ALOT OF FISH BEHIND! That will not ever happen again. Lol
I am a swim jig junkie thanks to my man and favorite in the business the Z train!

Mark Zona thank you so much I am going to Wiess lake next weekend and know a swim jig will play along with the Shad spawn.
@@MarkZonaFishing can you talk about the retieves
And I am a subscriber too.
Z just watched your show with Terry Scroggins in Florida. Do you remember what lake you were fishing?
Hey Z that's some good dirt about the swim jig. Thanks brother. The Hack Attack will definitely be seeing a lot more action now.
New sub, thanks for the 411.
Thanks for the sub and watching!
Will that swim jig work at lake menderchuck?
Always!
Zona, you need to run for Governor. Your state is run by a looney tune. Sportsman in michigan need you man!!!
when or do you ever use a swimbait trailer?
I do use a swimbait trailer shallow at times but to me it's at it's most power fishing deeper - like 5-15 feet of water
U the man zzzzzzzzzztrain !!!!
What rod reel and line do you use for swim jigs???

Hey Mark, what NRX rod are you throwing the swim jig with? Thanks
fishing4tanks a Daiwa!
How do you decide when to use a spinning reel and when to use a baitcaster?
I’ve answered this twice for you in other posts...
Mark Zona sorry about that, lol
I toss a grubb alot. Even the swim jig. But dont toss the vib jig as much as i should. I can use a ned head for almost anything but cranking.
Keep them conning to the boat. We need the Dirty.

Hey Thanks Zona, I can't wait to see it and be able to use it! Is it as strong as it is looks?
Try a solid frog or 'toad' on behind, or a boot-tail or 'kicker' swimbait tail.
I need the dirt!!!
No love for the rage swimmer as a trailer??
Actually I like a rage swimmer very very much
Z-Train!! Get Jake Fromm on there since he’s headed to Buffalo!
