Very clear explanation, thanks. Seems this is a common problem then. Just had one of mine go on a 20014 plate. Best price so far is GSF @ £314 inc vat. Their prices are over the place depending on who you speak with or use their web page. Didn't realise you need new bolts and seal washers to inspect them, so this video proved helpful for that too. Managed to get a screwdriver wedged in with a few cable ties to get me the 100 miles home. Currently needing to replace my 8th injector at 49000 miles. Going to try to do it myself instead of paying 200 quid labour for a half hour job.

I have just had a second injector fail on my 2013 1.6 Caddy. I have bought two new injectors from GSF for £274.75 inc. VAT. The level of discount varies by day on the GSF website. On the Monday just gone (Cyber Monday) it was 55% on the injector, bringing it to £309.09 inc. VAT. The next day it was 60% discount with a price of £274.75! This is the online price only. You can collect from the branch or have it home delivery. You may have to get the branch order it in for the following day, if the website says your branch is out of stock. Once it is in stock you can reserve it at your branch, then pay for it in the branch at the online price. This worked out lucky for me. I was eyeing up the £309.09 injector on Monday. I called the branch and they ordered it in for next day. It was out of stock both in the branch and for home delivery. Had it been available I would have had one at that price. I was worried that the discount wouldn't have been as great on Tuesday, but it was more.

Hi. I have a 2010 sdi caddy. Got my van back yesterday and now have a engine management light on. Garage I first took it to said egr code was coming up, so took it to a diesel specialist who didnt plug it in & tested the injectors instead and said that's the problem. Then took it to auto electricians to sort out abs look, in receiving it back he said he plugged his box in and egr valve fault.
Careful with the torques. There are different figures quoted. A common one is 2nm, 8nm, +270deg, which is obviously a heck of a lot more than your 7nm, +180 deg. Check how tight it feels when you open it and use whichever sequence seems to best suit the way it was. I undid mine with a 1/4” ratchet, so it can’t have been stupidly tight. This sounds much more reasonable than the more common figure, which I’m sure would have shorn off my 1/4” square drive I noticed you didn’t clean the seat. I suspect that’s why they leak and get stuck. People don’t clean them properly, or at all, and expect the new copper seal to make up for any imperfections that may have occurred during removal. I’ll be cleaning mine, before I fit the new injector. I’m not certain, but I think a code reader that’s compatible with VAGCOM will be able to code the new injector. Any imbalance between the cylinders will apparently accelerate the wear on the dmf, so best to have that right.
find a local bosch service center, in usa they are everywhere, and they can give do the job, or on ebay it's a few bucks for a Bosch kit with and you can do it yourself. same for injector pump ($20) for 1.6 Mark II.
Most people won’t have a clue how to code it or wanna buy the kit to do so and another thing they will struggle with is if the injector is siezed in the head !!! Like one I have just removed .. I also replace both injector seals and clean both seats when removing a pair of injectors like that as potentially you will now have created a poor seal on number two and it’s likely to blow up gas up the shaft carbon up and possibly get into the rocker casing and cause burnt oil and heavy crankcase breathing ... 👍🏻
Currently have a 2.0tdi DFS engine code caddy in 66 plate, runs clean when cold but as it reaches operating temp it starts to smoke heavily( thick white smoke), smells like unburnt diesel as if it is badly over fueling. Seems to be using oil too but I suspect it is bore wash rather than turbo seals or piston rings. If it was the inlet side if the turbo it would be running on by now, if it was the exhaust side of the turbo the exhaust would smell of oil either way the turbo feels nice and tight. Are the 2.0tdi covered by the same extended warranty that the 1.6tdi got? Injectors are currently out to be tested.

Just so anyone else knows, leave your ignition on for a few seconds, even off and on again to prime your fuel pump properly, that’s why it didn’t start first time as you didn’t have full fuel pressure, and were cranking dry 👍🏼
That won't do it. A genuine Vag Com tool must be used to start the pump and run it for at least a minute and the new injector must be calibrated with the same tool.
Prime the pump with a proper scanner and code the injector and change the seal on both injectors so not to create a shite seal and leaking into the crank casings and carbon around the injector .. also make sure u guys clean the seat and port properly and suck out excess carbon fallen into the bores
