So interesting. This is something you will remember the rest of your life. Our family got to tour one of the Morton salt mines in Grand Saline Tx. about 60 years ago. We live not to far from the mine. The mine is still working but they no longer have tours. We went down in a battery operated elevator and all the lights and equipment, even the trucks were run on batteries. They had tunnels like what you were in but ours was solid white salt. They even let us bring home some of the pieces of the salt. Something most people don't know or think about is Morton's canning and pickling salt is pure salt with no additives.
Good morning Becky! Thank you for this information on the Redmond Real Salt. I’ve been using Redmond for about 1 year now. I found out about Redmond Real Salt, when I started eating clean. I love sprinkling salt 🧂 on my watermelon 🍉. It brings out the natural sweetness. 🙏💛🇺🇸😋
I just saw Jess of Roots and Refuge mention you in her latest vlog! I love it when my homesteaders approve of my other homesteaders. I love you girls!! ❤️
I have used Redmond Real Salt for years and absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing your tour of their facility; it was wonderful to see where my salt comes from.
I was using Sea Salt. Then moved to pink Himalayan salt. Finally moved to Redmonds. I love the fact it is from the USA. Also was worried about the work environment and ecological affects of the Himalayan salt. I love the taste and find no problems using it with all the minerals in it. Also love the fact it has the minerals and is in it’s pure form. Thank you Becky for the tour.
Two things I love to watch are how any kind of food gets from the source to our table. Cranberry farming and bee keeping and food prepping are things I could watch every day. The other thing I love to watch is construction. Watching a load of lumber become a building can fill my day.

I grew up Hutchinson, KS. They produce a lot of table salt. It wasn't until I left for college that they sank a new shaft and opened the salt mine up for visits. My parents went down in the mine when they were kids through school. One of these weekends I want to go home and take a tour. They store all the old movie reels down there. When I went looking for my old medical records it took a while to get them because, they had to send someone down into the mine where they store records and other items to go get them. Pretty cool trip!

I just found your channel! I grew up in Syracuse Ny. Which is famous for SALT MINES!!! Our main street..is called "Salina st". Our mines were worked by Irish and Italian workers. One of the foods Syracuse is famous for, are called "Salt Potatoes". The Irish workers wives would pack small potatoes, and chunks of butter in their lunchesAt the mine, they would fill a cauldron with water, take a hunk of salt from the mine, boil the potatoes in the heavily salted water..and melt the butter to dip them in. It is a GREAT WAY to use up small potatoes...they are so good
Salt is so, so important! Especially for me, as I have a chronic illness (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) that requires me to consume a lot of salt. It's like medicine to me! I put it in my water, and salt my food liberally.
I've been so bad at gardening in my tiny back yard, but my dream is to one day live on an acreage and grow more. I also live in a very cold zone. Last garden season I wanted to grow sugar pumpkins and everyone said it can't be done here and I managed to get one sugar pumpkin! I had to pick it green and then it ripened in the house but I was so proud too!
I have lived in Salt Lake ALL MY life and I have NEVER thought about or gone to Redmond, Utah. (I googled it, it is 2.6 miles away from my house.) Thanks for the tour.
When my hubby was going out there with his semi, we would go past Redmond but didn't think they were in business anymore...wow, very interesting...gonna order mine!!!

I used to use Redmans Real Salt years ago but found it to be a little gritty because of all the minerals. If you were the one unlucky enough to get the last bowl of soup from the soup pot you got all the grit from the salt. It was for only that reason that I stopped using it. However, seeing your tour has motivated me to give it another try. I love that it’s local and I love their practices. Thanks Becky!
Could it be possible to use a coffee grinder and grind the salt a little finer? I'm considering buying this because of all the extra minerals. They are so good for our bodies. Thank you for the information and thank you Becky for the video.
I wonder if putting the salt into a tea strainer so that what dissolves goes into the soup and the remainder that hasn’t dissolved could then be discarded? Just a thought to avoid the issue you brought up.
I tried this salt about 10 years ago and found it to be too gritty also. I will try it one more time and see if it's changed. The video was very interesting

I ordered some salt after your first video about the company!!! Haven't gotten it yet, but looking forward to it. I used to use pink salt, but once I learned, from you, about the labor practices, I decided I can't support them anymore! Thanks for always sharing what you learn!
That was really cool! Some of my ancestors were coal miners, and my dad worked in a limestone quarry for over 20 years. Thanks for sharing your tour! :)

I first learned of Redmond salt through horses as its super important to encourage horses to drink which salt encourages.
I tried them a few years ago for myself and it's definitely a favourite!
