The reason why it took me so long was that everybody was making up equations for it making me feel like I was dumb. That question sort of told me how much I doubt myself.

I think this explains why some people answer .10 In school, some teachers teach that if there is a word "more" it means add So some people/students would think of it like 1$ + x (ball price) = 1.10 So you can say part of the misunderstanding is caused by some teachers.

Me: *Listening to him break down the ball and bat analogy* Also me: *Still not getting it* Also me: *Visibly shocked im this dumb because I still didn't get it*
I think it’s because the ball cost .05 cents and the bat 1.05 dollars, you still have to have a dollar between prices Price of bat 1.05 Price of ball 0.05 the bat cost 1 more dollar
Cause it never gives the exact amount for the ball and the bat, it just says that all together it is 1.10. The bat cost a dollar more, and usually when saying “a dollar more” it means that they are just adding a dollar onto an existing amount. And the problem says that the bat cost a dollar more “than” the ball. meaning that before adding a dollar onto the bat they both had to cost the same amount, 5 cents, they just added a dollar onto the bat
The trap is that if you pick 10 cents the bat would be $1 which is 90 cents difference but if you pick $0.05 for the ball it is correct as the bat will be $1.05
👉 let the price of the ball = X cents 👉Now we know that the bat is 1$ more than price of the ball ,so 👉Price of bat = 1 + X 👉total price = 1 $ and 10 cents 👉also total price is sum of the price of ball & bat = (1 + X) + X i.e Total price = 1 + 2X Now we equate 1 + 2x & 1 $ and 10 cents (because they are both the same) 👉1 + 2X = 1 $ and 10 cents 👉2X = 10 cents 👉X = 5 cents Since "X" is the price of the ball, the final answer is 5 cents
@@Frostifire if the ball costs 10 cents that would mean that the bat costs 1.10 dollars which would add up to 1.20 dollars, so the ball is 5 cents because then they'll add up to 1.10 dollars. Hope you understand now

I know that you do know this and what I´m saying is nothing new or interesting, but I really think that, from the way he wrote it, people won´t misunderstand the joke and will understand that everybody gets born at a young age

@@CastleRaccon the way I saw it, it was almost as if; if you're intelligent enough to not get fooled by simple $1 more questions, you dont fall for the made up arguments made everyday, thus you're viewed as "politically incorrect". e.g. If I disagreed to the notion that there are infinite genders, because by then the classification wouldn't be gender so much as a personal identity, me being intelligent enough to follow through with logic might cause me to be labelled as said "politically incorrect" as stated.
"the ideas and emotional needs of others" may be important, but to bend and change logic to suit your needs isn't how logic works. Crazy how this popped up convenientely when i did something stupid today. I still dont feel intelligent
Growing up and now at 31 I am considered smart by teachers and family. However I always felt like I was missing something from my brain to help me critical think in real life. So I don't consider myself smart or intelligent, rather I admire people who can rationalise in social situations.
fr, i always feel behind in social situations, and i'm also bad at anything that requires to have logical sense of numbers, but when talking about reading, as long as it's an interesting story that has some quite of terror or paranormal stuff i can read for a good amount of hours until i get bored of the story, i can also analyze situations as long as they're quite simple (like analyzing art styles, music, a few math techniques and pronunciation)
As a very intelligent (160 IQ) and possibly arrogant person I would assume you are very intelligent. Me: *Listening to him break down the ball and bat analogy*

I think it’s because the ball cost .05 cents and the bat 1.05 dollars, you still have to have a dollar between prices
Price of bat 1.05
Price of ball 0.05
the bat cost 1 more dollar
Cause it never gives the exact amount for the ball and the bat, it just says that all together it is 1.10. The bat cost a dollar more, and usually when saying “a dollar more” it means that they are just adding a dollar onto an existing amount. And the problem says that the bat cost a dollar more “than” the ball. meaning that before adding a dollar onto the bat they both had to cost the same amount, 5 cents, they just added a dollar onto the bat
@@woozy9112 Thank you for explaining bro... I got it
The trap is that if you pick 10 cents the bat would be $1 which is 90 cents difference but if you pick $0.05 for the ball it is correct as the bat will be $1.05
Atleast you are smart enough to know that you are not smart enough
I’m still sitting here trying to figure out what bat costs 1.05
👉 let the price of the ball = X cents
👉Now we know that the bat is 1$ more than price of the ball ,so
👉Price of bat = 1 + X
👉total price = 1 $ and 10 cents
👉also total price is sum of the price of ball & bat = (1 + X) + X
i.e Total price = 1 + 2X
Now we equate 1 + 2x & 1 $ and 10 cents (because they are both the same)
👉1 + 2X = 1 $ and 10 cents
👉2X = 10 cents
👉X = 5 cents
Since "X" is the price of the ball, the final answer is 5 cents

Yeah, it's shocking, especially when they put you in a position of trust and you just KNOW it's only a matter of time before you disappoint them.
CAPPER 261 ...my iq is above 200...but just don’t mind okay?
Tell me... why do you share this in a comment section???

"You're more likely to be indecisive, non-religious, an politically incorrect" Hits too close to home
@DarConall In time, it's better to be painfully aware, than blissfully ignorant. It allows you to be more open minded about the things around you, you are no longer committed, chained to an ideology, your mind is free to traverse thoughts and ideas without having to live in conginite dissonance. At first it may be depressing know there is nothing out there, but eventually you realize it's better that it's better this way, at the end of the day, the only person who can judge you, is yourself. Without an afterlife one learns to appreciate life more, because this is all there is, enjoy it while you can, because the clock is ticking, and I don't recon you'd look back at reading youtube comments as time well spent, so go out there and live! Not tomorrow, but today. Make that your motto.
Ya he said that and I was like this man is a magician
@DarConall Yes it hurts so much and it was not easy to leave the religion for me. Every night i was suffering from the fear of hell. There was 2 bald spots in my head caused by stress. For 6 months, every night was a nightmare. If i weren't born into religious family, things would be more easy. I am getting better now, that 2 bald spots nearly disappeared but i had suffered a lot and i don't want anyone to suffer. No parents should teach their religions to their childs, it looks innocent but i swear it isn't. Children must be free to choose their own religion.

That’s actually more common than you think, especially in this day in age. Just because you’re all three of those doesn’t mean you’re a genius btw
Now, I initially answered the wrong one, but then immediately realized it was wrong and corrected myself before deciding on it, under what jurisdiction does that fall?
