I got the freakin' book with the button on it, and when you pressed it Slappy's eyes glowed red. The only book I ever got at the Scholastic Book Fair when I was a kid.
I love the way PM talks to his animations/puppets/creatures: like a boozed uncle that enjoys antagonizing and dismissing their annoying , over stimulated, and emotional stagnated nephews. The complete antithesis of Blues clues or pee wees playhouse where the host is overtly energetic and doting to a condescending level. Brilliant
Yes the playhouse vibe is exactly what I get too, & i love it & how creative this man is. It really gives me some more hope for youtube. Hopefully we get more creators like this, not just the same repetitive reactionary sht, where they stare at a screen lifelessly.
Really Great take on this. I grew up loving Pee Wee's Playhouse mostly for the creative objects, set pieces. Makes me wish PM would help work on a unique version off shoot of Pee Wee's Playhouse
You creating a nightmarish Cronenberg-esque Pee-wee's Playhouse with each new episode this year is unreal. Your channel just keeps getting better and better, man.
I recommend the low quality meat tasting video he was in on his Mom's channel. No fancy creatures, but the whole thing feels like a Peewee's playhouse nightmare. He is just trapped trying to be a polite "guest" for almost a whole hour.
If my father was a ventriloquist and then I find a doll talking on its own I would immediately think it’s the man that does that exact job that lives in my house.
"Bride of the Living Dummy" was the scariest episode for me. Mary Ellen was the creepiest looking doll I've ever seen. It's eyes are just pure madness.
goosebumps is what got me into horror at a very early age, and i still collect the old books and memorabilia when i come across some. thank you for this series-it’s awesome to look back on this goofy nostalgia with your style and humor
There’s just something about goosebumps that reminds me of the 90s when I was a child . It’s Halloween day. The afternoon when you get off school ready for the weekend . It’s cool and breezy. Creepy yet cozy. Life is so interesting
This asshole puppet has caused me to suffer from a phobia of dolls to this day. I had vivid Nightmares as a kid of slappy attacking me with toy story characters around no less joining in, and now I fear woody in real life as well
I'm surprised you haven't made any videos like this but on Tales from the Crypt. I remember watching that late at night with my dad. Some of those were awesome and the mascot is the GOAT.
I was 7 years old and had a collection of dummies and was strangely obsessed with ventriloquism. I had books about it, I had VHS tapes ABOUT the art of ventriloquism. I was a weird little neurodivergent kid.
I like that with all the meat animated characters he introduces (first of all super creative) but its not just one trope of the annoying character that he disregards or whatever, he actually gives them some interesting things to say that he agrees with sometimes and I like that.
As a small child in the late 90s/2000s I had like 20-something ventriloquist dummies and was OBSESSED and loved these Goosebumps episodes. There was also the GOOSEBUMPS 2000 ones that at least had BRIDE of the LIVING DUMMY and maybe more? And then all the new stuff I think has tons of Slappy stuff in there.
There’s a great Tales from the Crypt episode called The Ventriloquists Dummy with Bobcat Goldthwait and Don Rickles. Great spin on the living dummy trope.
One Goosebumps episode I never see anyone ever talk about is Cry of the Cat. Which is a shame because that episode is one that actually scared me as a small child. The cat chimerised woman in the movie is still nightmarish to this day.
@nicholaswetzel7119 I genuinely repressed Rip for the longest time. After I watched it and my family saw how scared of the cat I was, they would hide around the house and make cat sounds like Rip to fuck with me. About a decade later, a random goosebumps video on TH-cam unlocked a core memory of that and I genuinely spent a solid 20 min trying to figure out if episode was even actually real or just my brain playing tricks on me.
The Hybrid Cat Woman gave me nightmares for years to the point where my mom wouldn't let me even watch Goosebumps anymore lol. I never had any problems with the other episodes being too scary, but Cry of the Cat was next level 😂
The original covers for Night Of The Living Dummy used to scare the shit outta me as a kid. My brother had to cover up his bookshelf with a blanket whenever I walked into his room
I used to collect them; my room was notld 3s cover. 14 dummies and I never could understand why people thought I was a psychopath. They always tried to leave and I just wanted FRIENDS THAT WOULDNT LEAVE AND THEY WONT STOP LEAVING
This episode of goosebumps... Haunted me for a long time as a child. I remember getting a stuffed up Power Ranger that was around my height at the time, I got so scared that my parents had to remove it out of sight and later on gave it someone else.

Oh, too, it's crazy how I don't really remember the others but when you bring them up I definitely remember a specific short time in my life where I was about 5 to 6 yrs old actually and us kids got to see the whole set if goosebumps. I remember fondly as my newfound competition based friendship with my new step brother was being formed. My family lost him when I was 7.. so ik I had to see the movies at about 5 or 6 yrs old. Ok. So my uncle used to be a professional ventriloquist and puppeteer. He's old now and very...eccentric. One day, he invited my husband to an abandoned school he owns (........🤷). Uncle Dale unlocks the padlock, the metal doors scrape open, and the dilapidated school is filled top to bottom, hoarder-style, with magazines and art supplies and horse tack and whatever else. They go into a room and he opens another door to reveal stairs. This is when my husband starts to get nervous and checks his exits hahaha. They go up the stairs into a huuuuge, old attic. The whole thing is the size of the school. Uncle Dale is talking like everything is just normal and my husband checks out every kind of junk you can imagine just piled and stacked and stuffed in nearly every inch. Uncle Dale goes over to this big old-fashioned wooden wardrobe and slides it over. These things are heavy, so it is no small feat. He slides over this wardrobe to reveal...a secret door! Husband is sweating now, fully panicked but stuck in and just hoping that my uncle is as trustworthy as we all insist. Uncle Dale unlocks this door (it's a deadbolt) and opens it. My uncle disappears into the pitch black room. Husband does not go in at first, but my uncle is talking and beckoning him to join him while he finds the light switch. When he does hit the switch, husband realizes he is entirely surrounded my all manner of puppets and marionettes: homemade, vintage, broken, intact, hanging from their strings, set up on shelves, all covered in dust and cobwebs. Husband yelped and then tried his best to play it cool while my uncle Dale took down his special puppets and told him the bizarre stories of each doll. Uncle Dale is not a dangerous person (I swear!), but this freaked out my husband so bad! After a while, husband said he had to pee and booked it outside and waited for Uncle Dale to casually lock up his terrifying horror-story-set. 😂😂😂

This was probably my favorite Goosebumps episode to watch as a kid. If you would've told me back then that the kid playing Zane would grow up to be Darth Vader, I would've laughed in your face.

I remember my old goosebumps special edition purple hardcover book that screamed when you opened it up. I wish I still had it somewhere!
My ex's extended family had a Christmas party every year, and it always included a talent show. Yes, they were Mormon, so Papa's joke is a lil too close to reality for some lol.
I think Salppy's design was also hella inspired by the 1985 movie Joey, aka MAKING CONTACT (dir. by Roland Emmerich) which paralyzed me into total fear as a young lad only second to clown scene in Poltergiest. great vid per usual hombre!

When I was much much younger my older sister used to torment me by telling me that Slappy was real and that he was coming to get us and kill us. She made sure to remind me almost every time I went to sleep for a few months. I did not read the books and had yet to see the show. I was horrified to go to sleep and would hide under my covers and overheat a lot and I needed a night light. Then I saw the show and thought it was the goofiest thing I had ever seen despite the fact I was still very young at the time. This had a very formative impact on my life and through a combination of trauma and gaslighting I learned to not be so afraid of things other people say. Often these things tend to be completely blown out of proportion.
Slappy always scared the shit out of me. The best Goosebumps episodes that caused legit fear from a show. You’re rundown of this makes me laugh at my childhood fear of Slappy. So thank you, for releasing the fear I’ve held so deeply Papa Meat.
Its honestly uncanny how similar Hayden’s performance here is to Attack of the Clones/Revenge of the Sith. I mean its not the quality per se but his facial expressions. Lmao with the “kick me! I dare ya” line he kind of has this Tim Heidecker vibe. And ya know, R.L Stein has that David Liebe Hart essence….
I bought a Slappy replica from the scary closet. I love it, thing is a tank! Where’d you get your Slappy from, I’d like one with the cracked head as well! Love your content, look forward to your videos all the time.
i love how Papa has revamped this channel with more animations, art and voice work this year! Really smart and keeps his personality in every episode. Creep Cast was also a super smart move bc Ted the Caver was a legendary video! Keep up the great work Papa❤!!!!

It always makes my day to see a new papa meat video
HES FINALLY SPEAKING ABOUT THE BEST EPISODE!
Slappy always scared the shit out of me. The best Goosebumps episodes that caused legit fear from a show. You’re rundown of this makes me laugh at my childhood fear of Slappy. So thank you, for releasing the fear I’ve held so deeply Papa Meat.
I simply cannot get enough of the goosebumps episodes
1:12 "I don't like sand"
I never forgot those wise words
Now as an adult, the genuinely scariest TV episode was Ghost Next Door
Its honestly uncanny how similar Hayden’s performance here is to Attack of the Clones/Revenge of the Sith. I mean its not the quality per se but his facial expressions.
Lmao with the “kick me! I dare ya” line he kind of has this Tim Heidecker vibe.
And ya know, R.L Stein has that David Liebe Hart essence….
29:15 same dad as the one from the ‘1999’ Creepcast apparently
This slowly becoming my favorite TH-cam channel, other channels I like are JonTron and cinemassacre.
Yes! These are the best, time to get a snack a drink & relax. The Goosebumps are some of the best episodes.
I bought a Slappy replica from the scary closet. I love it, thing is a tank! Where’d you get your Slappy from, I’d like one with the cracked head as well! Love your content, look forward to your videos all the time.
me and my little brother absolutely loved the goosebumps series growing up and slappy will always hold a special place in our hearts
You should have included Bride of the Living Dummy! That one is pretty interesting as well.
I’m a ventriloquist and my dummy and I constantly get into arguments about who the *real* knot head is…
The long winter nights must just fly by.
U scare me
I believe you

I'm enjoying this session of watching one of my favorite all time nostalgic films with your commentary ❤ Meat for life
i love how Papa has revamped this channel with more animations, art and voice work this year! Really smart and keeps his personality in every episode. Creep Cast was also a super smart move bc Ted the Caver was a legendary video! Keep up the great work Papa❤!!!!
