  • How can I record with my guest and cohost using our smartphones?
    How can I do advance edits to my podcast episodes recorded with my smartphone?
    These are two of the most common questions on our channel. In this video, Veronica and Studio Steve demonstrate how to easily and properly record a podcast using two smartphones and how to transfer those files to a digital audio workstation on your computer to make it sound amazing.
    You can maximize your audio quality while recording with your phone by applying the simple steps we show you in this video. You don’t have to invest too much money in equipment or to pull your hair out trying to figure out how to export the audio from your phone so you can do sweet edits using your computer.
    Recording apps have a lot of limitations when it comes to precision edits. And believe me you want to get rid of those long pauses, umms, and other nasty noises that can creep in while recording using your smartphone.

    I love the way these teachers interact to explain, in simple as possible terms how to create a good podcast. It has taught me how to start a podcast from the very beginning which is so cool. Nice vibe too.

    Hey! I didn't really understand the way you got to your end result. Did you manually cut off all parts of the recording with the other person from your audio track or did you combine the two?

  • @M-tg7eh

    Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if, when recording separately on two phones placed near each other and then combining the audio, the voice of the first person doesn't appear in the audio of the second person and vice versa. How should we handle this situation?

    • @podsoundschool
      @podsoundschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can make that work. You won’t, however have each speaker isolated o. Their own tracks, which can make editing a bit tricky. Also, it’s nice to be able to silence the microphone of the person who isn’t speaking, during the editing. But I think it’s worth trying out.

    • @podsoundschool

      Yes. You could have as many as you want really. It can just get a little tricky to sync all the recordings together if you're not in the same location.

    Please I hope I get a reply to this question. I've searched the internet but cannot get a definite answer... Is there a way to connect two microphone and headphones to a android phone to record a podcast? I know a y splitter can connect one external microphone and a headphone but I need the connection for 2 instead of one. I hope you can reply please. Thank you 🙏

    • @podsoundschool
      @podsoundschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a tricky thing to accomplish. I’m not aware of a way to use 2 usb mics on one phone. You might try using a USB hub. If it did work, both of your microphones would share the same recorded track.

    • @mixitupcookitup1763

      @@podsoundschool thank you so much for your reply! I did think about the recording being on one track and the issues with editing after, so I've decided to go ahead and get a audio interface 😊.

  • @Totallysamsays

    Wouldn't have been easier to just set one phone up with Auphonic app to record both of you?

    • @podsoundschool
      @podsoundschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would have been easier, yes, but it would make advanced editing more difficult and we also wouldn't be able to apply effects individually to our voices. I like to EQ, compress, and de-ess Veronica's voice differently than mine. If we had been farther away from each other, we would have achieved even better results. Then if we wanted to really take it up a notch, we could use USB microphones with each of our phones.

    its a very nice tutorial, but it seems to me you are basically cutting, intercepting whenever someone speaks, and silence the person who doesn't talk. I was looking more for a solution where you don't have to do this. seems like a lot of work, especially if you have a 2 hour interview.

    • @podsoundschool
      @podsoundschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a tool that works really great for this. A Gate. gates allow you to draw a line (so to speak) on the volume spectrum and only allow things louder than that line to pass through. This can be really helpful. The problem with our setup in this video, is that we were too close to each other, which makes using a Gate not as effective.
