As a kid, Batman was a whimp and WAY too kid friendly thanks in large part to(Sorry I'm going to offend a generation, but it's Truth!)the Adam West 60's comedy and the HB Superfriends animated series.Then came Frank Milllers The Dark Knight Returns and Tim Burtons Batman starring Michael Keaton to bring Batman back to his true form!
Myself as well.. and think about the production. No cgi. 100% real props, sets, locations,. Everything is now done in front of a green screen. Where as in 89 if you wanted a fight downtown.. you had to build a downtown. Everything from fire to things flying over head were all happening on set.

I do like this return to the Tim Burton Bat-verse. Batman '89 is my favorite Batman movie, and I always wished there had been more than just the two movies we got.
Batman and Joker gangs fighting over the protection and destruction of the city? Giving me some Gotham City Imposters vibes and I LOVE it! "It's go-time, time to go. Go where? Down town, kill a clown."
Was Burton planning to give 3rd Batman,white glowing eyes,like the comics?or was that a comic book choice? Would have been cool to see Batman with glowing white eyes,like BVS battle suit.
I think what's missing is Danny Elfman's amazing and iconic Batman score playing in the background. I should probably do that when I read these comics. 😁
Over all I dont think it will ever feel like the movies. Im sure it's not easy trying to capture the feel of a movie onto a comic book. But its nice to see the story being continued.
Since Keaton Batman is being included in DCEU they oughta introduce a Golden age type Justice league as counterparts to Snyder's Justice league. I really like that in some panels with Harvey Dent, the lighting causes Harvey to have a darker shade on one side of his face, which foreshadows his Two-Face persona
I'm definitely in the middle on this. I do have most of the same complaints, except I do kinda like the way Tim gets the name Robin but it could have been better. Overall the next four issues really have to do a lot of work to pull this up to the level I was hoping ot would be at. A LOT of work.

The 'Prince' clown was based on Prince's look from the 'Partyman' video. You forgot to mention the 'Son of the Bat' from Miller's TDK in the panel with the reporter, and the Miler via Prince Easter Egg with the twin red heads with the 'All This and Brains' and 'All this and Brains Too' - also seen in the 'Partyman' video but based upon the blonde reporter in TDK wearing a shirt saying 'All This and Brains Too'...plus they have been confirmed to be The DeeDees named after Harley's Granddaughters in the Batman Beyond Universe.
Loved it! Not sure I agree with your view on white eyes, perhaps they are a touch too large? Also, I loved the "Robbin' the store, dumbass" line. Could totally hear that as a line of dialogue in Batman 89/ Batman Returns for sure!
The only confessions I can make is I never watch the movies so this is new to me. I do find it interesting actually and way better than the past few Batman run ins. Otherwise, not bad of a story.
Bro you gotta watch at the very least the first Batman film from 1989 it’s really good and the story he’s going over in this video is basically a direct sequel to the aftermath of the first Batman film and what happened in the finale. Don’t worry spoil it since you’ve never watched the whole movie
@@Anchone yes they truely are and Batman forever and Batman and Robin are also kinda alright despite being really hated. But these comics are a great third film in our eyes and Tim Burton’s actual vision of Gotham that we never got to see after Batman Returns.

I'm 39 in May, I was 5 when Batman '89 burst into theaters. I loved this movie, it'll always hold a special place in my heart. I know what this movie meant at the time of its release. But In 100 years, if someone watched every Batman movie released between 1989 and 2022, I believe Batman '89 will be lower on the list because most people won't be aware of the cultural impact this movie had. Nostalgia tricks people into thinking that because something is the first (no disrespect to Adam West), that means it's the best.
This just spiced my appetite for reading it! Some very interesting new takes on familiar characters. Burton's Batman was my first. And, for me, still the best. No one played him better than Keaton
I completely agree with you Arris, this isn't quite sitting well with me. I like all the easter eggs, and there are some good points. The whited out eyes and the now gray hair on the sides are only a few key points that they seem to be missing on. Gotham doesn't feel right, the police don't feel right, but I'm not quite sure how to fix it at the moment. I do like that they carried on with some of the casting from the movies, that at least makes it feel nostalgic.
Great video. I love the idea of these relived ideas with new aspects comics. I would love to see Bruce explain or sequentially tell someone his POV of both the Jokers death and the Penguins death. I find the first two issues to be great comics, but would not make great Burton movies. Glad they brought Selina into it, maybe a little too soon.
I will add however if DC decides to give us fan's more of the BurtonVerse Batman in comic form I would be okay with that. Hearing about those films & what could have been after this comic release well color me intrigued again!
There needs to be a two part animated film adaption of this. Tim Burton could produce and co-write the script. Maybe have Jay Oliva direct and get Keaton to return as the main voice actor. It'd be great if the Burton duology ends up getting it's proper conclusion with the third and final film.

I guess the plot and writing is good. Sam Hamm is the original screenwriter, so that makes sense. My problem is with the art. If you look at the film adaptation comic, illustrated by Jerry Ordway (with colors by Steve Oliff), it's a masterpiece. The characters and objects in the world look true to the film. More importantly, it manages to capture the atmosphere or mood. That retro, art deco, noir style that was so integral to the film. You can practically hear the theme music playing in the background. Ordway does one of the variant covers, which is great, but weather he was not asked, or he's now limited by age or health reasons, he did not illustrate the interiors. Fair enough. Joe Quinones is no slouch, or newbie as an artist. In general the art in this is pretty good, but that mood is mostly absent. What's worse is, I've seen some of his Batman artwork, that does capture it. Why it's missing from the actual book, I don't understand.
