As someone who saw the original in theaters back in 1989, it looks pretty damn close to that original experience before it got compressed down and brightened up for vhs then dvd.
There was a fan film done not too long ago set just before Batman 1989. It's honestly really well done and I like to put it as head canon for Keaton's Batman. It' called Batman The Oath. Only like 17 minutes so a quick watch too.
I always felt the 1990's The Flash was apart of the Burton Batman Universe. It had similar ques, was dark with a highly stylized Central City. I could totally see the Batmobile cruising through the street of Central City or The Flash running to Gotham. Such a shame the show was cancelled before any potential spin off.
Oh boy.... if you knew.....in Germany there was a 9 Volume Audio Play Series that played in the Burton Universe. The first Volume, was a re-telling of the first Burton Movie. Except that the Joker didn't die at the end. After falling from the helicopter/clocktower there was just a laughing bag lying on the ground. The Joker was missing. He escaped. After that we got 8 story's. Interesting enough, they could just get the rights for the First Batman Movie and their characters. So in the following volumes you have Vicky Vale, Alexander Knox, Bob the Goon, ( yeah his role was stretched to the stupid henchmen, always pushed around by the Joker) Gordon, Alfred and the Joker himself in all Episodes. There was never a different antagonist. A few Times Harvey Dent was mentioned, and that he is black. In one Volume they made a potential Robin Story, that resembles the origin story of Jason Todd, but he had a different name, and never became Robin in the radio plays. As far as I know some of the volumes were based on older Batman Comics. The series was very silly and the depiction of the Joker was more of the silly Joker from the 50's and 60's...and had a low budget and Charme to it. It's nothing great, but a little German curiosity and very interesting that there is something in pop culture media that actually plays in the Burton Universe. And Alexander Knox is one of the recurring main characters, even he's very silly and nerve wracking in these plays. If there is someone here, who can understand German and is interested in this I can post a TH-cam Link to those Plays......
I see all these projects as various alternate timeliness, like Halloween. The original is cannon to all of them, while the sequel is cannon when convenient.
Excellent job on your coverage of projects related to Batman 89! Birds of Prey is really better than people give it credit for. Helena really sold the show for me! I love your channel and your dramatic reports. RIP to Kevin Conroy. My condolences to all the other fans of BTAS! The on Star commercials look pretty amazing too!
Couple minor corrections! 9:45, the Birds of Prey batsuit (in those re-shot scenes) was a Kilmer Panther, making it a Schumacher suit not a Burton suit. The narrow abs are a giveaway! 17:15 the Batmobile stolen in the Supes show, was technically from Returns (gloss paint) not 1989 (satin paint). Onstar switched back to a Satin paint but with a gray tint, not pure black like in 89. Dashboard was a redo, not accurate to either movie. The Onstar's satin anthracite paint job made it stand out, and the car stayed in the WB studio tour through my visit there in the late 00's and beyond.
I fucking loved birds of prey, I watched it with my grandma every week when it aired. Then again when it came out on DVD and I lost my mind when I discovered that the DVD had all the Gotham girls episodes I used to watch with my best friend. That was awsome.
Your not the only one who like birds of prey cause I loved the show and i even bought the dvd set of the series and it’s true that Michael is returning for the flash they have already released his action figure in both scales the regular sized and the more doll size I just need to get the doll sized one for my Batman collection
Penguin was never a "wealthy aristocrat." Check out "The Origin of the Penguin" from Best of DC Blue Ribbon Digest #10 and "The Killing Peck" from Secret Origins Special #1.
I wish we could’ve seen more from Tim’s Batman, to celebrate I bought a Steelbook edition of the 89 movie. Also I don’t know if you like the nostalgia critic but they have a second segment called Fanscription which is about changing the plot structure of some movies and they did a few on Batman like: What if Harvey Dent was in Batman Returns, What if Tim Burton directed Batman Forever and what if Tim Burton directed Batman and Robin. You should check them out
@@GringoXalapeno I think that’s probably the best way to do it since I honestly don’t think seeing old Michael Keaton as old Batman would be that great of an idea, I’m still a little worried about the Flash
This video just came out and I'm confused you don't have the Batman 89' book because I do and I'm in the middle of reading it? Is it just not available where you are or what?
there is one project i actually enjoy and its by channel awesome called what if tim burton directed batman forever and batman and robin, it feels like a well made sequel i know most people don't like channel awesome but the video is incredible i recommend it
People don’t think bale is their Batman unless they were born after 2000 every kid from the 90’a that includeds 99 Keaton is their Batman. I know grew up watching Keaton and the kids a year younger didn’t and it’s actually scary one year and some of those kids don’t know VHS exist might not sound like a big difference but that year does too much
Daniel Waters has denied that Schrek was ever supposed to be Dent. He's said that Dent was originally to have a minor role adjacent to Schrek, with Dent slowly becoming more reliant on his coin when deciding on if he was going to act on the whole Schrek pushing a suspected gangster as mayoral candidate to set up Dent's downfall in a third film
Makes some kind of sense. Instead of Shreck shooting Batman, Dent would have shot and killed Shreck. In a fit of rage she electrocutes Harvey for stealing her kill. Shreck is integral to the plot of the film, so I can’t see him being part of last minute rewrites.
We need a 4k89 fan restoration, the official 4k is too teal and blue
I believe there is a project out there that is complete or in progress. I'm sure you can find it with a couple searches
You could try watching it in black and white...

Danny Elfman did the music for both Batman 89 and Flash

"Canon". "Cannon" is a weapon.

Joel wanted to do batman year one which Keaton liked when studio said no Keaton left the project
The Batman ‘89 comic was so good
Danny DeVito was right. his nose could be gushing blood.

I liked Halle Berry's Catwoman. I loved Birds of Prey. I wish that there had been more seasons of it.
Surprised you didn't include all canons that refer to the Joker as Jack Napier, like how the Batwoman show frequently made mention of that name.
Let's get nuts!
Wait Vee, Birds of Prey also effected me so make that two whole people
i.....i must be freaking blind. i CANNOT believe i missed the penguin's dad thing in gotham. like......wtf bro
What a coincidence i just got back into this movie series and started writing fanons about it again.
In England "Gough" is pronounced 'Goff'.
Not sure if he ever stated otherwise, but that is the usual way of saying the name here.

I'm surprised no one tried to blame the Catwoman movie's failure on her being black

if it were made this year, it would be different.
She wasn't playing Selina Kyle so it never even came up. Plus everyone likes Hallie Berry.

Joel Schumacher killed the Tim Burton efforts.

It’s Crazy to think that the 1989 Film has a Large Impact to the Dark Knight than any other Adaptation,For Better or Worse.
