I was in Gerona on a business trip in September. We also stayed in the same hotel. Great place and fantastic food. There’s a group of us going to Spain on the bikes early June 2025. Can’t wait. Great video by the way.
I didn't even know what ChatGPT was so had to google it 🤣. What an interesting concept for planning a random tour! I guess it's an alternative to Calimoto and the like. I might have to try that myself.
Hi Tony, That was an interesting experiment, but I get a buzz out of the planning. Cadeques, or the village beside it was the home of Dali for many years until his wife died, and his home is now a museum. Most beautiful spot on the Costa Brava. Great vid! Arthur
Great ride Anthony, moments there where I felt I was on holiday and could actually smell the sea! Great idea re chatGPT, if it doesn’t get used then it can’t improve… I did hear on a R4 program that it does use 30 times more power than a standard search engine like Google because it talks to so many computers but I’m sure they’re working on it, plus there’s renewable energy. Intrigued and looking forward to your next adventures! Sean. Forgot to say, loved your zoning in on the No Tourists graffiti, made me chuckle!
@@laterrider hi Anthony, I signed the message Sean thinking you might twig who this is but I obviously think I’m more famous from my band days than I am 😂 it’s Sean, Ellen’s dad. Impressed with your trip and looking forward to seeing the rest…! Your riding and filming brilliantly! Stay safe! Mr & Mrs C
@user-et1cm4su7m hey Sean… it’s lovely to hear from you! Personally I’ve always thought of you more as a “Sean” than a “user-er1cm4su7m”… I hope you don’t expect me to call you that from now on!!! 😳 I hope you’re keeping well buddy 😃
@@laterrider 😂 no, cm4 is fine 😂 I’m not very tech savvy so whatever gets suggested I press ok. That’s how I got married to Cath 😂 get some sleep, you’ve got a busy day tomorrow entertaining me and others 😂
Two questions, one comment. How is the Shoei modular helmet for comfort and heat dissipation and did you consider the RT before going with the GS? Love your channel as we are both probably around the same age and late to motorcycling. You're keeping it real! Cheers
Thanks so much William 😃 I like my helmet bits it’s now due to be replaced (its version 1 & I believe there’s now a version 3). The only problem with my one is the face plate doesn’t lock in the up position - which would be nice sometimes 😊 I confess I haven’t tried the RT… beautiful looking bike though 😃
I’m intrigued where was the last town? First time I’ve seen a Ai virtual assistant used. What happens if you put more detail in? Do you end up with the ultimate tour? South of Gerona on the way to Barcelona there are some lovely places. Oh and don’t worry about your helmet being unlocked, I’ve ridden off more than once with the chin strap undone!
Hi Pete, I confess I can’t recall the name of the last town? Sadly… as you’ll see in the next video… I lost all my audio the following day and so I have no useable footage… but you’re right… there are some beautiful place south of Girona 😊
I'm using the BaseCamp to plan routes. I experienced with different routing options inside of a GPS as well as the AI. So far, I can beat them hands down. Maybe in some future, AI will do better, duno. However, if you in the "field" and need to have on-the-fly route, without really caring about the specifics, AI can sure get handy.
@@laterrider BaseCamp is not an intuitive software that you can learn just by playing with it. I tried many times and gave up on it until I took several lessons from a TH-cam EZ Tim (I think) and it opened up for me.
I dislike any form of sat-nav on bikes. It is too easy to be a slave to it. A map is OK for planning in the bar, but there is no substitute for "reading the road" and looking for clues and signs. The Spanish tend to signpost their hotels rather well and there is usually someone to ask. Tip. The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west and is south'ish in the middle of the day. + It's Free 😂
I'd like to know how well you'll remember each turn and each road you will take, just from planning in the bar. Or you may just set direction and play by the ear? If so, you can miss some good roads or just keep riding in circles wasting the time. I've done many trips using paper maps back in the day. The GPS is a savior. But hey, what rocks your boat.
Your a slave to everything else in this high tec modern life. are you on a computer or smartphone or tablet. Your a slave to it if you use it for enjoyment or get information. Your a slave to your phone, your grocery store for all food and especially milk. Do you have a cow? do you have a vehicle?? or do you have a horse drawn carriage or saddle? you didn't think it through when you made that statement. "WE" are all slaves to everything in this modern age of information and vehicles and shopping. Unless you live off the grid or in a cave then excuse me for assuming. I didn't like the chat gpt either it was stupid and made no sense and did not work for me at all. I will stick to my Garmin GPS. I have had them since 2003. How did I use a highway map years ago to travel across and around america I will never know. peace. 🙂
@@FxRiderST I tend to use a combination of both, I like the 'overall picture' a map gives along with some 'notes' in the tank bag 'pocket'. But I like the 'real time' of the satnav, and the satnav finds a hotel in a large town or city in Spain without batting an eye. My very old (car type) satnav gave up the ghost while I was on holiday on the bike about a fortnight ago. First thing I did was look for a replacement when I got home. EDIT: for typo

If you’ve never heard of ChatGPT it’s really worth downloading the app - I think you’ll be amazed at how useful it is - I must use it 5 times a day 😃

Thanks so much - and I completely agree about Cadeques - such a lovely place 😃
I’m not an AI lover but that was very intriguing, Cadaques was particularly stunning! Another great vid, keep them coming!
Thanks Simon 😃
Excellent video. I didn't know ChatGPT could do this. Must give it a go. 👍
Thank you - it was an eye opener for me. On the whole I think it did pretty well 😃
Thanks - another great video, very informative and great to watch. And thanks for the ChatGPT tip.
Thanks so much 😃
How interesting, I'm off to spain on the bike next month. I'll definitely be trying that chat gpt when i get there, thanks
My pleasure Andy - I’m delighted you found it interesting 😃

Very interesting test!. After forking out eu600 on a Garmin you realise what AI could do for that type of platform
I’m really pleased you found the test interesting 😊

Hi Anthony
I’m enjoying your vlogs .
Can you please tell me what your ,
Camera and microphone set up is .
Thanks Steve. I just use 2 GoPro’s (an 11 and an 8) and a cheap lavaliere mic in my helmet 😊
Thanks

Interesting. I am still suspicious. Travelling with the finger on the map for me is still part of the planning. But I can be convinced.
I completely understand - but it was an interesting experiment 😊
