Hi Tony, really enjoying your videos. I too am a “later rider” having rediscovered motorcycling five years ago after a gap of 30 years or so. I now have an R1250RT (same engine as your GS) and am slowly building up my confidence on the bike. You are a natural in front of the camera. Looking forward to more from this trip and will be binge-watching your previous vlogs! 👍🏻
Another great video. Good to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new. Always a good sense of satisfaction when you do this. Looking forward to the next installment.
Another relaxing video. Do you ever see any goldwings? I thought that one car in front of you at the end, creme color and black was an american car. Just can't think of the name. thanks again. 🙂
I'm glad to see you chose to go "over the top". Firstly, our worst fears rarely materialise and, secondly, you only learn and gain experience by challenging yourself. I remember going through a similar process when I first learnt to ride (in my early fifties!). Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you adventure 👍
I've just come back from the Pyrenees crossing to Pau from Spain. I must have negotiated over 30 acute hairpin bends on steep inclines/declines with free roaming cattle (and their droppings). Several squeaky bum moments as I was travelling alone and would have great difficulty picking the bike up should the worst happen.
You went a bit quiet there for a few months. I’m so pleased you’re back doing another trip. I’m retired and got back into riding about three years ago after a 35 year break. I have the same bike as you and I’m trying to get enough courage to do a European trip myself. I can really relate to all the things you mention (worrying about where you might stay, or the mountain pass type situation..I probably would have gone for the tunnel 😂) and it’s so refreshing how honest you are about how you’re feeling during your trip. Really looking forward to the next instalment. Thank you.
Wow, what a wonderful message, thank you so much!!! I’m delighted you are considering your first European trip and I really hope you do it! I totally appreciate it can feel intimidating at the planning stage but honestly if i I can do it I’m sure you can. One small tip if I may… get hold of a copy of the Lonely Planet European Road Trip book. Every ride in here is amazing - so that’s your route sorted! Then just book hotels a couple of days before if you’re concerned (as I was in France) about having somewhere comfortable to stay. I really hope you do it….. what have you got to lose….. and you’ve got EVERYTHING to gain 😃
@@laterrider I'm hoping to go to this area in Sept, ferry to Bilbao and then ride for 7 to 10 days, haven't s clue about anything over there, watching vids on here to get info, I must get that book, bit nervous but still excited, I have done Scotland and Ireland before.
Nice! Definitely need to get Stephen out there with you next time! does he have a bike now? And I’d also like to see a series where you and Liana go together with a motorbike and side car a la George & Mildred 👍 Take care Anthony, will be following your adventures!
Glad to see more of your videos, I did a Pyrenees trip with my brother and some friends on our bikes which we transported from Montreal to Paris in 2017 when it was affordable to do so. Safe journey 🍺
I just use Camtasia now - it’s a very easy program to use. I can totally understand the nervousness but honestly that goes away in the first day. Why not make your first trip a nice straightforward one……. Like the Normandy Beaches D Day Landing sites. You could do these in 2-3 days and it’s a wonderful place to ride - and very interesting 😃
@@laterrider Thanks, yes that would be a lot easier, I love mountains though. I'll check out Camtasia, just making a video of of the trips to keep, not for youtube.
You are a proper rider ! Fair play for going solo, doing a similar trip with my son in August , enjoying the Vlog
Thanks so much. Doing the trip with your son would be awesome! You’re going to love it 😃

Thanks so much Steve I really appreciate that 🙏 PS. Yours is a beautiful bike 😃👍
yes, he is a good narrator. Good accent too. 🙂
Thanks so much 😃

Thanks so much Dave 😃

Thank you 😃 I confess I can’t recall seeing any Goldwings.
The roads you took appear to be motorways in comparison with the single track route I took. I can recommend the Chateau Dampiere in Pau
Thanks Kevin 😊
Great video! Really enjoy seeing the ups and downs of the journey & it's great that you're open about what worries you! Keep them coming!
Thank you Chloe xx

Thanks so much for your kind words my friend - I know I tend to “over worry” in these situations.
@@laterrider you'll be doing the Stelvio before you know it! Not that I've done that one yet... still on the list. 😊
As to your helmet/gopro weight scenario, I'd have a look at a carbon fibre helmet, so much lighter than standard ! 👍
I confess I’d never heard of this pass - so I just googled it… wow! 😳
That’s great advice and I do now need a new helmet. Do you have any specific suggestions on brand or type etc?

Thanks very much for your encouragement and advice.. I’ll definitely get a copy of the road trip book.
I wish you all the very best on your impending European trip 😃

Ha! Alas there’s little chance of getting Lianna anywhere near a bike, let alone a sidecar 😃 I’m delighted you’re enjoying the series so far 😊
Great vlog!!
Thank you 😃

Thanks - very much appreciated 😃
Use rain x. I use it all year round on my visors
Water disperses straight away with water
Thank you - I’ll get some of that - I’ve never heard of it before 😃
You normally use on car windscreens
But works on visors read instructions
Thank you I will do 😃
Let me know how you get on with rain.x. halfords costco etc sell it
Thank you for the suggestion 😊
What programme do you use to make videos? Bit nervous heading to the continent on my own, but it will be an 'adventure' for sure.
