Robert Downey Jr. has been at rock bottom before in his life. Criminal charges, drugs, alcohol, and a terrible mental state. Not only did this make him _perfect_ to play as Tony Stark but it means that he doesn’t exactly fuck around. He makes jokes, he can take jokes, but he doesn’t care what you actually think about him. Whether it is because he is humble from his past or because he knows that he can handle it all because of his past, or maybe both, he simply doesn’t give a fuck.

@blaisetelfer8499 RDJ's response to that wasn't aversion to criticism, it was a ptsd response. He didn't appreciate it because his mental perception of his current state literally placed himself at his lowest as it was happening.
I wonder if this is why the media portrayed The joker so harshly. As it shows how media exploits and manipulates the story to victimize the villains and vilify the innocent. Such as the talk show scene where he finally snaps is a perfect reflection of when a celebrity gets made fun of, and is forced to sit there and just accept the fact they have to answer it there way or face ridicule. Not trying to stroke that movie off but this video made me rewatch and rethink it. And a large part of the issue is how the media portrays situations to force the public into two extremes. Which we see today
You make a good point. I always thought the same about Nightcrawler. A film that I thought got completely snubbed at the awards. Jake Gyllenhaal was superb and should at least have been nominated. But the film dealt with the subject of dishonest journalism and heavily critiqued the callousness of the media.
This reminds of that time Rosy O'Donald killed her career by trying to turn her talk show into this anti-gun propaganda fest. It came to a head when she decided to chew out the actor Tom Selleck for being a member of the NRA when he showed up to do a little bit of a puff piece interview for a movie he was starting in. It was such a disaster for her that it led to unceremonious cancellation of her talk show.
Her show was not cancelled - she left after six years to spend time with her family. Her show was a ratings juggernaut - that Tom Selleck interview, while cringe, didn’t have anything to do with why the show ended
@@dudebro91-fn7rz The incident happened only half way throught the show's run. It may not have helped, but I wouldn't say it takes 3 years for any one incident to directly 'kill' any career. Claim 'cope addict' all you want, but fake news is fake.
Tarantino is one of the directors out there that produces consistent films. He knows that some will love his work, some will be neutral, others will hate what he directs. He's fine with all 3 and while he would like everyone to love his work, he knows that not everyone will, and he's fine with that. He also refuses to bend to public pressure and re-edit his past work. His attitude towards people who want him to is for them to film the movie they want, and if it's something original and good, he'll help promote it. So far, none have even attempted to film it, yet many still try to play editor for his films. Reservoir Dogs, like his other films, has an excellent cast. They all work well with each other and within the story perfectly. While I would think a Vega brothers film would be great, I would never push him for one. With Tarintino, I'm fine with whatever he wants to release. Not like I have any say about it, though.

It was about legacy media vs. independent media and Rogan having more viewers than CNN themselves. 3. I feel kind of bad for Gupta, certain questions by Joe should have been addressed to a CNN executive rather than a doctor.
Joe Rogan is the disrespectful interviewer in that clip, so it’s backwards and opposite of the rest…only because the narrator agrees with the disrespectful interviewer.
@@Skjeggspir Absolutely. Sanjay Gupta also isn't a statistician, otherwise he would've completely destroyed that statistic. 86% of boys adversely affected by the vaccine needed to be hospitalized. That stat has absolutely no meaning if you don't know what percentage of vaccine recipients were adversely affected in the first place. If 2% of the vaccine recipients were adversely affected, that would be 1.72% of all vaccine recipients needed to be hospitalized. If 0.02% of vaccine recipients were adversely affected, 0.0172% of all vaccine recipients needed to be hospitalized. Statistics can easily be manipulated to provide the result you want to represent. Like 4 out of 5 dentists recommending a certain toothpaste brand, when they were asked to provide 10 brands they'd recommend. That means that particular brand was among the 10 recommended by 4 out of 5 dentists polled, but it reads as if 4 out of 5 dentists recommended that brand over any other, which was just not the case.
Where are the serious journalists that are breaking stories no one else wants to talk about because they aren’t sensational enough? Seriously- where can I find them? Celebrities who know that getting involved too directly in political things will cause great damage to their career. They will alienate half their audience in this day and age of binary polarisation.
Ehhhh... sort of. There's a reason most celebrities present themselves as 'centre-left', most people on the supposed right are fairly accepting of opposing views as long as its not outright hostility. The mainstream left though tolerates 0 dissent. Hence 'centre-left' is the safest route.

Presenters are expected to poke this rise out of interviewees because it's become a game of oneupmanship: other media companies are doing the same things for views and likes. A decade or so ago, this would be marginal, but it's as though every producer sets out a mandate onto their interviewers to push and push and push until the 'target' reacts. Joe Rogans interviews are embarrassing.

After covid he went off the deep end to never come back.....good riddance. Artie and guests were the best part of the show anyway

"he can take jokes, but he doesn’t care what you actually think about him" If that were true, he wouldn't have been so shook when Ricky Gervais roasted him at the GG

That Michael B Jordan interview was so satisfying to watch.

He's the feet guy, right? Lmao.
@@jayl5032 no that was your father

If 2% of the vaccine recipients were adversely affected, that would be 1.72% of all vaccine recipients needed to be hospitalized. If 0.02% of vaccine recipients were adversely affected, 0.0172% of all vaccine recipients needed to be hospitalized.

Where are the serious journalists that are breaking stories no one else wants to talk about because they aren’t sensational enough? Seriously- where can I find them? Both of them put themselves in dangerous situations where they got physically assaulted in order to report on certain activities.
I can't think of any current journalist who would go to such lengths.

It's like those interviewers forget those celebrities are real people, so they feel like they can abuse them in whatever way they want to provoke reactions. Sure, they are wealthy and famous people, but if you wouldn't be comfortable talking to some random person about something out of the blue and in front of cameras, don't do it to celebrities either... My mans actually called Quentin Tarantino a producer.
Today it's no longer about journalism, it's all about sensationalism.
This adversarial, hostile approach is being normalised as the media space contracts, so it's only going to get worse.
