    That "don't put your child in the case" warning, sounds obvious, but you know a lot of these warnings is there because someone actually did the said thing before...

    • @DarrylCarey
      @DarrylCarey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Warnings are only there because someone has or will do it. You got your Pelican Case?

      @@DarrylCarey I'm leaning towards it especially the carry-on size...

    WOW im looking at the 1557 case which I think is the updated model of this case from Pelican AUS and the case alone costs $369 but its PLUS $290 for the trek inserts or $216 for the padded yellow inserts or $71 for the pluck foam.

    Similar to the comment below: I have "mid-range" gear, so I just traveled on vacation and brought my D4, D610, and 3 lenses which fit great in my Lowepro Flipside Trex 450, with room up top for like chargers, glasses, some hats and other personal stuff. Flying out of Chicago my carry on didn't get checked but sometimes they don't have room up top so flying back from Miami it did. Would you trust this to be put under the plane and man-handled by the airport employees? I like my backpack since I can keep it under my seat and as a personal item it will never get checked. But I am also looking at other options and this sounds great.

    I am a traveling photographer and my 1535Air recently cracked in the field. Pelican is refusing to honor their "lifetime guarantee of excellence" warranty and instead being very passive in their emails and phone calls. Seems they are riding on the brand name at this point without actually standing by a quality product.

    • @DarrylCarey
      @DarrylCarey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hunter Holder That is not right way to treat customers, you pay the extra for pelican because you get the lifetime guarantee.

    I did the velcro attachment to mine years ago so I could change it out easily. The glue in my heavy duty velcro failed in a week. How is yours holding up?

      Lowe Apollo really well, I use a large kit bag to go over the 1535 Air as it stop damage to the case and the extra room around the case I put my clothes 😉

    does the velcro hold? If i put my laptop, charger, couple hard drives in that lid holder, it'll already be a few kilos, i could see the velcro coming off...

    • @DarrylCarey
      @DarrylCarey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not had any problems with the velcro, but a laptop maybe to much weight

    If you do the math from the specs, the internal volume of the 1535 is only 4 cu in less than the 1510. The specs say the internal depth of the 1535 is internal depth is 0.4 in shallower than the 1510. Neither difference is significant for me.

    Do you check your camera in if they do not let you carry it on?

    • @DarrylCarey
      @DarrylCarey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My last trip to Taiwan which was a few weeks ago, I just got away with my camera as carry on. Will be flying back to Taiwan in a few weeks and that will be the first time I can not take my gear as carry on 😖. Will be a good test for the Pelican 1535 case.

      @@DarrylCarey Its true, Humans in New Zealand call it Lollipops. Great Video by the way, Do you do stunts? I hear Dai Henwood is looking for a stunt man.... Thanks for the link to Rubber Monkey and the news about that idiot corporation Auckland Airport. The weight limit probably has something to do with Glidepath, who built the conveyer system at Auckland Airport. Can you really not check in heavier items (19kg) ?
