Thanks for the video. I get strained when I sing from reading printed lyrics rather then l memorising the lyrics and working out the vowel shapes.

I was ventilated and had a tracheotomy. The took the vent out and put it back in 3 times. My chords then became paralyzed after two months off of the vent because I got sick again and their was too much scar tissue. That’s when they put the trache in. Trache came out 3 months later, had another surgery to remove a polyp..later another surgery to inject stem cells to heal scar tissue. I’m a contralto now and I think always have been. I’ve been struggling with MTD for almost 3 years now. I just want to sing without hurting myself. My biggest passion that made me feel the most connected to myself is a challenge to enjoy every time I open my mouth. They said my vocal chords look perfect now. They aren’t quite symmetrical, but they said they could have always been this way. Just therapy…there is just almost always so much tension EVERYWHERE! I want my body back. I’ve had amazing days where it was all gone and I almost didn’t recognize the sound that came out of my mouth. It was free, and unique, and beautiful, it was me!! Then I always do too much. I take advantage of the vocal freedom and i sing all day and put myself back in a prison. I have a lot of bad habits. I don’t know what else to do.

🥰 Thank you; this video is beyond merely awesome. The "bottom line" take-away is to know when to rest one's voice before there is a problem. 💗

Many thanks, Judy, have just recently found your videos. One question, what do you mean by pulling instead of pushing? I know what pushing the voice is but how do I do the pulling? Do you have a video about it? Do you mean drinking the voice instead of pushing it out? A bit like Belcanto? Thanks.

It's hard to find trick to
find a way by trying to think about lifting the vocal sounds off the vocal cords . I try it hard to see if it's possible.
