      @R Hey sorry to inform you but I haven't looked back at this video since the first time I watched it. Long story short, I lack discipline and am struggling everyday to keep reading . However, reading out loud DOSE help. I noticed right away the my tongue became stronger and I am more able to communicate without slurring as much. I guess you have to practice everyday to get good results 🤷

    this has helped me immensely, I moonlight as a musician and was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease and at the same time went into lockdown. After a few months of inactivity I tried singing and playing the guitar and could not do both. However i started with my Meds the playing started coming back to where it was earlier, however my vocals did not improve until I started doing these exercises, I still cannot pitch the high notes sometimes, but its a huge improvement from not being able to sing at all. Thank you

    Ok. Finally I came across the real thing that could be of much help. My goal is to train my vocal cords to be more active instead of paralaryngeal muscles. Due to some reason, I am very hopeful of these exercise. If I exercise daily for 30 to 40 minutes, I am sure that my vocalcords will be stronger and participate in voice production instead of paralaryngeal muscles. Fingers crossed. I shall post my progress after 6 weeks.

    • @Awesomemener
      @Awesomemener 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi I'm a student studying speech pathology and VFE is targeted at voice production. Research suggests that it is only effective for voice-related problems (i.e. that pertaining to vocal folds). Stammering or stuttering falls under fluency so it is a different area of communication/speech.
      However there are treatment options for stuttering. If you would like to do some research, in Australia the Lidcombe Program and Oakville Program are evidence based treatments for childhood stuttering. The Camperdown Program and La Trobe Smooth Speech Intensive are an evidence-based adult stuttering treatment programs. You can find more information on the Australian Stuttering Research Centre website, they have great online free resources for stuttering management. But I would highly advise seeking support from your speech pathologist.
      Hope this helps :)

    Hello there. Saw your videos, and just now I have had trouble with my voice for 4 months, and before that it was a gradual effect. Strain, singing, and talking to much/shouting to often is my guess for why i have it. ++Flu made me loose my voice a couple months ago and now it isn't returning. Have a sore throat weak voice, cant protect, feels sore, and raspy, and that it is hard to get the words out. Anyway
    Was wondering if By ADULT you include 18 year old? (Im 17 and a half)
    Cheers.

      You would be fine to be considered an adult in this respect. If you are having those types of troubles try looking into vocal hygiene. Sounds like you are having trouble with your vocalfolds. Try avoiding smoking, alcohol and stay hydrated. Also overly acidic drinks (you're after Ph neutral, so water is best) and don't use lozenges or that type of thing. You want to avoid throat clearing as this excessive type of vibrations of your vocal folds can less to excess mucus being produced to coat you folds which in turn makes you want to clear your throat more (creates a cycle) and try some steam treatment, I.e a bowl of hot water with a teatowel, or a hot shower without the exhaust fan on. Also a humidifier for sleeping can help. If it persists being a problem see your gp and local speech pathologist. (edit) I know this is way late but always good info and may help someone else in the comment section.

    I have a question maybe you can answer: If our vocal folds do not vibrate when we whisper, then how can we still hear and feel the difference between voiced and voiceless sounds when we whisper them? I can totally hear and feel the difference S vs. Z, P vs. B and G vs. K when I whisper them

      Because the clearer the sound, closer cords, the breathier the wider apart.
      And when we inhale silently, the chords spread wide open.

    When I was about 12 to early 13 I had a shockingly deep voice, but it kind of went away. I’m now 15 with a kind of dry voice. I speak from the throat, but I remember feeling the vocal vibration all throughout my chest. Would this be a good way to get my naturally deep voice back?

      marshmellow tincture with honey several times a day to soothe the vocal chords and you possibly need a speech therapist to help with post surgical complications

      These type of exercises can help with vocal fold paralysis. It's about strengthening the vocal folds and muscles associated with voice production. Your prognosis of recovery would depend on several factors. Can i ask what was the cause of the paralysis?
