    That's a fine football Sam. The walnut works very well for a good color. It would make a good trophy for a little league team or even a high school team. Crank up a CNC machine and you could turn them out a dozen at a time. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

      This actually was a trophy for a fantasy football league winner. Thanks, Sam.

      Thank you! 😊
      If you remember, before, I had issues with something copy written in the video. I reworked it. So here it is again, Sam.

    Very interesting project and turned out really cool. It strikes me that this is a challenging project -- making an egg shape assumes the ends will be different in shape, so one can cover over a multitude of shaping sins when making an egg. The football wants both ends to be the same, so it has to be done right on both ends and in curvature or it won't look right. While you were doing this, I realized that there must be some strict definition for the shape of a football so I looked that up. Turns out a football is roughly a prolate spheroid with defined circumferences for the center around the circular dimension - the lateral axis (even that is hard to put down in writing) and along the longitudinal axis of the ball. So, all in all, I learned something today.

      Mark, thank you
      I didn’t think of this as a really big egg, but I guess it is.

    Great project, Sam. Great choice of woods. I noticed your cute dog in the background and assume he is a helper. I'm no vet but have been told that walnut dust can be harmful to both pets and humans. I personally am a bit allergic and always wear a respirator when working with it. Might want to be careful with the pup when you're working with walnut, just in case.

    Looks like you pulled the brad nails before turning. I wondered how you intended to deal with that potential problem.

    I’ve often thought of turning these. Have you hollowed any?

    • @WYOMINGWOODTURNER
      @WYOMINGWOODTURNER  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, this is the only one I’ve ever made, new hollowing here Sam

    • @WYOMINGWOODTURNER
      @WYOMINGWOODTURNER  ปีที่แล้ว

      It should read no hollowing.
