Cheers to Portugal, our Motherland!!
Obrigado DJ BBQ!!!
Brazillian chicken tastes better💯
Portugal is not your motherland just your oppressors
kayla Johanson 😂
@@Lillie839 shut up bitch we love our Brasilian brothers, dont bring that American systemic hate here
🇵🇹 🇧🇷
That insane amount relaxed mellowness of those two guys is an offset of the daily hard work in the sun. They are enjoying themselves by just absorbing the good vibes in the moment
years ago, on a hot summer afternoon in the Algarve, my Portuguese tia grilled up some piri piri chicken over some hot coals..that experience has yet to be duplicated..without question, the best grilled chicken i have ever had in my life..
Dj bbq is hilarious. You just clowning Alberto and Rui. Much love from South Africa 🇿🇦
New England ( MA RI ) is The Portuguese capital of America, and I'm 100% Portuguese so I've had piri piri chicken many times. It is indeed amazing with beer and here in New Bedford, MA we have a few take out joints that sells tons of this stuff. Portuguese cuisine is not as well-known as some of the other countries cuisine but it's every bit as good. The Portuguese restaurants around here are never shy on the portions as well. Great vid dude!
Obrigad! Erick!
Newark too
It's Ironbound, Newark, NJ the capital
Portuguese food is the best!
We have a small barbecue place, our pork barbecue is hands down our best seller. We do it this way: marinade pork belly overnight in a mixture of soy sauce, pineapple juice, calamansi juice, brown sugar, a bit of salt, pepper and minced garlic. Grill, let rest for ten minutes, slice, and serve with a dipping sauce (soy sauce, calamansi juice, diced onion, and tomatoes), atsara (pickled green papaya) and, of course, rice. I'm not sure if calamansi is sold in the US but it's definitely essential in this recipe. I'm from the Philippines, by the way.
Muito obligado !
Muito obrigado!
hahaha
A french guy, speaking in portuguese to a american video!
Well, that is food's globalization! :D
Hey Fench guy cooking. Salut monsieur.
It's fucking awsome seeing this channel portraying my contry. DJ BBQ is in Algarve, the south point of Porugal, and believe me we eat amazing things just like DJ did! Hope you come back and show many more tradicional portuguese dishes :D
+Ritaza Soares I cannot wait to get back and cook Caldeirada, feijoada, bacalhau com natas, cozido a portuguesa, and cataplana. Muito Obrigado
+DJ BBQ ...all the good stuff..!!! and the fressh bread, cheese , olives , tuna paste and barrel wine...!!! we got to meet up in the Algarve one day, DJ BBQ..!!!
whats the real authentic recipe ive searched quite a bit. I see some use tomato paste, others use lemon juice is there a standard that u know of or where i might find it.
This is the best chicken bbq you will ever eat EVERRRRR!!!! Slight differences by region or islands( Madeira/Azores). Our family from Azores based the chicken with more basic Piri-Piri marinade with 3 types of peppers hot and sweet no bacon. Then put the more robust Piri as dipping sauce. Bam!! You got the best chicken bbq ever made by man. They shelve it in jars in the cold cellar like a fine wine.
Enthusiasm, energy and eating! ! Totally digging the Portuguese and looking forward to the other videos! !
"you're a good looking dude, I'm not blind hahahaha" 😂 😂 😂 that killed me Dj
Frango assado is the most basic thing you can eat in Portugal, we have several places that sell exclusively grilled chicken :) You need to try and share other portuguese dishes, like "Caldeirada", "Cozido" or "Cabidela" :)
All great dishes. Wait till you see what we got coming up. We shot a dozen local recipes.
DJ BBQ Can't wait ;)
I love Cataplana
roasted chicken is the most basic thing you can eat in the entire world. what makes Portuguese chicken really special is the grilling, the cutting, preparation. I love it and thanks to Nando's I learned to cook it in many years ago.
You could try SOPA DA PEDRA ou FEIJOADA, those are real dishes
You can have piri piri sauce in your pantry in a jar to use on every meal you wish: just take the seeds out of the chilli peppers ( piri-piri), put them in a jar, cover with olive oil, add a clove of garlic, paprika and salt. Let it rest for at least a week before using it. You can then add the rest of the ingredients this video recipe uses as you cook your meals:) Great video!
I made it for dinner last night. So delicious. Everyone loved it. Thank you
DJ bbq - dont know if you will see this. But I have been watching food videos and channels for yearrssss. But I have to say this out-side cooking takes me back to that special feeling I got when watching cooking videos for the first time. Please please please! More outdoor cooking! :D
Most of my videos are shot outdoors. I love cooking over charcoal and wood
Loved this - I'm a garlic junky that loves some heat - I was salivating watching this. Good job Sir.
+Naamtok Cheers, Naamtok
I want my own Portuguese ranch! Cool video. The sauce looks great. Almost reminds me of a Buffalo sauce, but times 1000!

Missing my home ❤️
That sauce looked like heaven! I’m Portuguese and that is the way it should be made every time. Good work! More Portuguese dishes PLEASEEEE lol
More amazingness from planet radatron is never a bad thing! Keep up man! your recipes are a huge inspiration.
:D!
Ate those "flattened BBQ chicks" when I was in Portugal many years ago! piri-piri chicken yes! They are good man. Thanks for this recipe, will try this summer on the grill.
looks and sounds exactly like Chris Pontius
It’s his clone
I thought that too.
That looks incredible.. I will be trying this. The sauce.........oh my!
I spent two months in the mountains of Portugal in my partners village, beer, BBQ, fresh bread, vegetables, Port, old school homemade cakes... in the words of one of my heroes Antonio Carluccio "Wonderful"
I love stories involving food.
Thanks brother, loved my times in Portugal and Italy, the food and drink :D
Spot on with the fridge and everything! Great recipe, portuguese indeed.
Always in the mood for BBQing after I watch you
Then my job here is done.
Meu pelo País! Portugal minha pátria!
knowing a lot of Portuguese people around my town, amazing people, amazing food.
one time i went to my Buddys house, we just went there to pick something up, was supposed to be a 5 minutes visit. so i sit down in the living room with his dad for a little chat, and in what felt like 5 seconds his mom comes in and with a loud clack clack clack of dishes all the room was suddenly filled with food and she was all like : "you look so hungry, eat something, at least a little".
5 minutes planned, stayed nearly 2 hours and left stuffed ...
that's sounds like a good night.
Old portuguese saying "there is always an empty seat on portuguese tabel for a welcoming guest" our "in a portuguese tabel four 4 people, can always eat 5 ou 6 persons" we enjoy receiving guess and sit down to eat and chat
Awesome vid DJ BBQ i have been to the Algarve a couple of times and the food is mega especially the grilled chicken and the grilled sea bass is knockout 👍
this is awesome! had to substitute a couple of ingredients, like peri peri sauce with peri peri powder and another hot sauce. But it still was one of the best grills I've had. Thanks for this one!
+srijith nambiar You are more than welcome
Take the powder and mix with whiskey or similar a couple of hours before
I've never seen or had Piri Piri chicken done well outside of Portugal, definitely gonna try this one out.
You make cooking so fun and interesting!!!! Really enjoy watching your videos. I tried your steak recipe and it was awesome
Zain Najeeb Excellent, thanks!
Dude ur laughter is contagious.
That's the back of a fridge they're using for a grill!! 😂😂😂 #Proud
I'm portuguese to. That chicken was awesome! Eu sou português também. Aquele frango estava fantástico!
Muito Obrigado
If you love the fridge idea, you're gonna go crazy on the washing machine tub cut in half. The little holes in it allows perfect ventilation for the coals/wood etc. It's the little brother of the fridge/drum one you used here and it works wonders.
Btw, I think it would be useful to show with a rating how hot those recipes of yours are, because I like a little bit of heat and sometimes I'm afraid of yours 'cause even a little bit of piri piri can be a lot :D
Congrats on the book, definitely gonna put it on my next amazon buy list !
DJ BBQ RULES!!!
My dad loves your channel
+The emrold minecart High fives to your dad!
Love this going to be doing this on my channel 👍🏽😍
That chicken is amazing. But man, you made it so much better, you're cool guy. Your Portuguese is on point BTW.
Great guy, so enthusiastic and friendly and you love your food.
tried this....was the best! thank you for a great recipe and a great video
Omg that piri piri chicken is terrific. Every time when i go to Portugal, I always go to Guia to eat it
+vladimirZalutskiy In the town or the shopping centre? I'll check it out next time I'm down there.
+DJ BBQ small town called Guia. And the restaurant is "Ribeirinho"
+DJ BBQ You were in Algarve and there is this house famouse for their chicken , it´s called Teodózio. Best bbq chicken i have ever had!
When you are in algarve Dj BBQ just ask about guia, they gonna send you to Teodózio the best out of all of them... Close to armaçao de pera
Thanks for this. Would love a recipe on the authentic style of chicken as well (the one that may take several weeks).
I know Guia, and it's famous for it's restaurants serving exclusively 'frango piripiri'. Stay away from the shopping center if you want good food, but try any of these places in the village center (most people claiming one or the other is best have their own agenda): Ramires, O Ribeirinho, Teodosio or A Vieira. They all serve authentic and delicious chicken. Don't forget to order some delicious tomato sallad on the side!
Dj barbecue it's the man viva portugal
Damn DJ BBQ, you're the man. Glad you're stay(ed?)ing over in our country, we have too much delicious food for me too name and for you to taste, hope you have as much as possible. Frango de churrasco is just the beginning :)
RADELICIOUS MAN!!!! Have with a big hoppy IPA to take down the heat!
Oh, man.. so jealous! I miss my portuguese sun and chicken!
Have you ever lived in Portugal? You know some portuguese well! Nice!
Yes, I spent 3 summers living in Lagos.
And the awesome beard starts growing again!
Wonderful recipe, authentically prepared! I do my chicken in a kettle, first with some 5-10 minutes of direct heat to get it crispy and then with indirect heat, at about 350F until it´s done. I will definitely try this sauce next weekend!
Best Video Yet!!
Cheers, Kurt
You're very cool, man! I love your style!
And trying to speak portuguese isn't that easy. I salute you for that!
Cheers from Portugal! ;)
Excelente vídeo, DJ. Adorei a receita.
Great video, DJ. I've loved this recipe.
Love this! Really looking forward to seeing the rest of the recipes you shot in Lagos and Burgau. x
Thanks, honey
I just subscribed to food tube. Its legit and I like how Jamie Oliver brings in local people in the know to give the instruction.
Portugal trip this summer and really want to try out some of your recipes like this one. Can't wait!
David Hughes You`ll definitely love it! You`ll find tons of "Churrasqueiras" selling this type of chicken! Also, if you visit Porto look for "Pedro dos Frangos". They`re chicken is delicious `cause it`s roasted before being opened. A bit different BBQ`ed chicken but full of taste! Next door to it you have "Conga" where you can taste Bifanas (a sandwich of hot pork meat shredded). Well, there are so so many good things.... If you come to Porto let me now and I`ll give you some hints ;)
Thanks D Meister that's great info!
Oh, and don`t forget to try the Porto`s best dish - Francesinha! ;)
And I hope you enjoy you trip!
If you need anything, feel free to contact me. (I have a travel consulting business)
Wow, this looks so delicious! I will try this with the dudes...
This is dangerously delicious! ***** xo DC
DJ BBQ I'm REALLY feeling the Piri Piri Sauce!!! AWESOME!
I made this. It was pretty good but i ended up adding a lot more hot sauce. Just keep tasting. I love this method tho. Way easier than i thought! Thank you!
Neat grill! That sauce looks great! I will have to give it a try the next time I cook up some legs in my cast iron skillet (though, always better on the grill). Here is one way I like to cook chicken (since you asked! lol) :Spiced Chicken with Coconut Rice and Beans - Family Dinner Time

SAGRES!!!! that's the best beer in Portugal!!!

But they were drinking Super Bock, the most popular beer in Portugal (42% market share.)
Sagres it's more expensive.. but SuperBock it's also a great beer

So glad you came to Portugal and enjoyed it! And really cool video with typical portuguese men ahah Até logo!
Xavier, from Lisboa
Great recipe! I was waiting for this!
Looks very good! Cheers!
DJ BBQ rocks!
Swapped bacon for juice of half a lemon and a bay leaf (like in your bbq pork recipe).
It was absolutely incredible! Almost as good as the one I got in portugal. I think if I use more salt next time it will be just like one in portugal.
Hey DJ its time for a visit there again! I love how they do their bbq in the south of europe😅
i love to be portuguese
i instantly subscribed. this channel is awesome!
DJ BBQ, i already knew your vídeos, and when i saw you at my home village, Bensafrim with my friend Alberto, i said: wooowww, fantastic!! I´m happy that you enjoy our home village, and home town,Lagos. Alberto is a guy that where is party, there he is, cooking, eating, drinking a beer, smoking a cigar.LOL

this guy is cool, funny and entertaining, great recipe, whatever he is on, i want some, i want his hair too.
Super Thanks!!!!
So they add later an warm marinade. Cool. Is there an way to butterfly an chicken leaving the breast intact and removing just the back?
great channel cant wait to try some of these
I remember when I went to Portugal a lot of the meat and fish and some of the rice I had was coated in this orange oil. Especially the bacalhau! I wonder if any of it was this stuff.
It probably was, piri piri sauce is our equivalent to sriracha. People usually put it on most food for flavor.
Is it just me or is DJ BBQ trying his best not to laugh at these two guys not saying a word?
Dude you go to portugal and the thing you choose to do is that come on, i know its awesome , but i really hope you did some more videos.
12 more videos from the Algarve of Portugal coming soon.
Its barbeque! And its really good. Have had this in Lisboa myself. Portuguese BBQ street food. Top notch.
Hey Bro love the video
quick question did you cook that marinate on the grill ? or did you just warm it up so it would all melt together?
Cooked it straight on the grill
fantastic! thank you for this recipe
Frango assado, muito bem, passad, cortado com molho de piri piri. Uma das melhores comidas
