    I grew Geum mrs J Bradshaw from seed last year and got rewarded with stunning red blooms this year. I think Geum are a favourite one for me and so easy to grow in Ireland (and you’re right, it’s an added bonus that pests don’t bother them, I’m a happy gardener! 😃😂

      They are so easy to grow here too. I think Mrs J Bradshaw is one of the only ones that comes true from seed. That makes it extra special 💚💚

    Hello
    Great advice, thank you. I have few geums. My orange ones are beautiful. But somehow the yellow variety is a flop. I will be repotting sometime and will check their names. Tips on dividing plants like geum would be helpful. Thank you🏵️🏵️😮

    • @perennial-garden
      @perennial-garden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmmm. Hope that repotting it will help! Is it getting enough sunlight? They flower best with sun -- they'll just give you lots of foliage in too much shade.
      And we'll be dividing ours in the autumn... we'll make sure to record it :)

    Great job guys, it was the bees knees. We have Mrs Bradshaw and totally tangerine in the flowerbeds and one alpine geum koi growing in a pot.

    Good morning! I divide my Mai Tai clumps every year when they reach 60-79cms across. I'm running out of friends to give them to 😂
    The Tangerine at least once, but I have yet to divide Mrs Bradshaw, probably because she's hidden (swamped) by other plants.
    It's such a wonderful, albeit very busy, time of the year, isn't it? Have a lovely end of day to you both 😊

      Good morning!
      And 😂 we 1000% know that feeling! At this point, our neighbors often just say no when we ask if they want divided plants - no excuses, just “no Lars” 😂
      You could start a plant sale tho! Might could turn a profit on Facebook marketplace 🤩

      @@perennial-garden thanks for the laugh! 😂 A friend asked for plants because she moved but made sure to say NO IRISES, THANK YOU. I might have given her one too many in previous "donations" 🤣🤣🤣
      I am thinking about selling a few. I offered a few daylily fans to a flower farmer and she offered cut flowers in thanks. I'm more than happy to accept that! 😊

    Good evening, my little Sweetcorns!!! Never grown geums, but I will now. Do you guys grow vegetables...or vege-terribles as my youngest son, Oscar calls them?
    Just thinking that, come winter, the structural beauty of cavolo Nero kale would look majestic in the frost. Yummy too. Just don't let Gwyneth Paltrow anywhere near them. She'd decimate your crop worse than caterpillars, for her smoothies. Lots of love, Vlad xxxxxx

    • @perennial-garden
      @perennial-garden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hahahahaha! Oh poor Gwyneth. Maybe we should try her method just to look as gorgeous as she does.
      Tell Oscar that he'd love it here -- we grow no vegetables, only flowers. Even some poisonous ones! 💀 (But we're super nice people. hahaha)

    Geums are lovely aren't they? I have them in red, yellow and orange. Although I deadhead them, I never get a second flush.

    • @perennial-garden
      @perennial-garden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We don’t get a big second flowering, but we do keep them flowering longer than if we don’t deadhead - and we only do it until other things come in and we can let them go to seed finally. 😅

  • @paleguy
    @paleguy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How much light they can take?
    I introduced some orange variety with quite hairy leaves that was already flowering in Spring but scared that I might lose it to heat I planted it covered with taller perennials and now it's growing beautifully but only in foliage department.
    Can I scorche it a bit or where do I reposition it?
    You guys are the best.
    Love your choices and enthusiasm.

    • @perennial-garden
      @perennial-garden  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much for watching and asking great questions!
      Most geums prefer full sun to part shade - they won’t flower so well in real shady areas. (That might why yours only has foliage)
      As for heat, it’s best that they have somewhere to hide during really hot sunny periods - so partial shade would work best.
      We don’t have much hot sun (especially when the geums are flowering) so all of ours are positioned in full sun. 💚
