This is a channel where the comment section/discussion is as great as the video. 😊
Thank so much! We try and answer everyone... and the people who leave comments are always so kind and helpful to each other and us :)
This is very interesting.
And pretty in white
I need this one. Did you plant or did it come from seed?
This one we planted -- but now we have it other places because it's easy to make cuttings from :)
Thanks so much I loved this video
You are so welcome!
I do love this sedum. I have not seen a white one anywhere available.
It's one of our favorites... here it is on the RHS site: www.rhs.org.uk/plants/357000/hylotelephium-spectabile-stardust/details ...if you'd like to read more about it :)
@@perennial-garden It is lovely. I am from United States not sure they ship here? Probably for the best I have more plants than I need currently and more coming in spring lol. Still very pretty plant and I always love learning about new plants.
@@CA-rx9ze I know what you mean! I don't need to 'meet' a new plant anytime soon..haha! No where to put it in this crowded garden :)
@perennial-garden Exactly I just made a new garden space last year and it is already to full lol. I also went seed crazy last year and kept way to many baby plants.
@@CA-rx9ze GUILTY here too 🤣
Glad to see a video, very good info.Just a thought,do you get much snow in the winter? ❤❤❤❤❤
Sometimes... but it never lasts more than a day or two here on the coast. Just a few towns inland it's much heavier. We have mostly heavy frost here in our little coastal town.
Thank you 🙏🏼. I would really try your Tipps, because i don't have a greenhouse. I wish you all the best 💐. Respect🙏🏼
Thanks so much for watching! Hope all of your seeds sprout :)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion for such beauties!
Most of our garden is from seed or cuttings - we’re big fans of growing this way.
Tak for en skøn video med go’e tips 👌🏻 Hvor har I købt de sorte reoler I bruger i drivhuset og den sorte balje til jord, som I brugte i skuret?

I want to share some info with you about Lupinus polyphyllus and bees. Lupinus polyphyllus has lupin alkaloids that can be harmful to bees. Bees, consuming pollen from this kind of lupin can suffer from poisoning or even death.
Super interesting! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for your reply. It's odd to be in zone 8A here in the northwest Georgia and to have a totally different climate from yours.
Very true!
Quick question, what's the plants name at 1:00? Is that phlomis russeliana? In Dutch they're called Brandkruid and I thought I heard some same word but then in Danish?
I just sowed mine fot the first time so I was wondering how they would look and when they started to sprout :)
I say ''Brændende Kærlighed'' which translates in English to 'Burning Love' :) It's Lychnis chalcedonica -- gorgeous red flowers in the summer. For Phlomis, we say 'løvehale' (lion's tail) in Danish :).
The Phlomis is gorgeous tho! We have it in yellow in our garden and in purple at the cemetery garden where I work.
@@perennial-garden ah, 'brand' means fire in Dutch so I thought it had to be the same plant haha. I guess not. I'll look lychnis up!
@@MedicJune Let me know if you love it too! It's really a pretty one.
Great video, guys. Inspired me to get my winter sowing gling right now. I will use a huge plastic container as I don't have a greenhouse (yet).....Love your garden. Greetings from Berlin.
Lots of people have success with plastic containers too.. so I’m sure yours will be great 💚

🗣️ *HARD WORK!*
Yes! But worth it.
Another great video guys. Just wondering how low do the temperatures get where you are? I too have a small unheated greenhouse that im planning to use for winter sowing with your method. It gets down lower than -0 F here in Maine USA. Thanks and have a great day. 😊
Here in Fredericia, Denmark (zone 8a), winter temperatures on the coast generally range between 25°F to 35°F (-4°C to 2°C), though we occasionally experience dips a bit lower, especially during cold snaps. It’s much milder compared to Maine, where I imagine your winters are quite a bit harsher! For your unheated greenhouse, winter sowing could still work, but it’s important to use cold-hardy seeds and perennials that work well in your area. As a general rule, seeds that naturally reseed themselves in your area are perfect for winter sowing. These seeds are adapted to germinate after experiencing cold conditions.
Thanks so much for the reply to the question I put in the wrong place. I will take your advice. And I do appreciate it very much.
@@glendaclark8168 no problem! I suddenly thought I wrote it twice... but couldn't figure out where I already replied. haha... thought I was going crazy :)
The ivy looks great up the wall behind you!
Thanks! It’s taken a few years to train it up there…. Still a few more places to go. As long the wind cooperates, it’ll be fine 😂
Love this video and beautiful flowers
Thank you!
@perennial-garden your welcome 🤗
An idea to make plant markers is to get a plastic or metal blind and cut markers in the length you want. It works good for your containers to grow seeds. Excellent video as usual. Thanks.
That’s a great idea! And a great way to recycle an old window blind too!
Greetings from Slovakia! Thank you guys for such a useful video, I love your channel. I would like to ask one question though, regarding the soil. I like the idea that you do not use potting soil, especially because in slovakia we actually do not have a lot of potting mix products to choose from. We either have seed starting mixes or than universal potting mix kinds. Could you maybe give a little more instructions on the soil, for example what the composition should be like, so it is easier for me to find the right one on our countrys market? Thank you in advance for your help!
Sure! Ours is called Planting Sack Soil. (I’ll put a link to it below so you can see what it is). Basically it’s the sacks of soil that you find to grow tomatoes and things in. www.silvan.dk/produkt/plantesaek-40-l-7280-9719203 It’s everywhere here and really cheap - we get it from whatever shop has it on sale 😅. Maybe you have something similar in Slovakia? We can find this in gardening shops of course, but also in hardware stores and sometimes even supermarkets when they sell spring flowers.
❤
Thanks for watching!
Wow

Sois maravillosos. Muchas gracias por ofrecernos estás ideas al alcance de todos 🎉
You are so welcome! And s big hello from Denmark to you 🥰
The Agastache 'Blue Fortune' 3-plant cluster looks amazing. I've been trying to find a perennial that would reach 3' to place in the back of our newly formed full-sun perennial bed from last season. It looks like Blue Fortune may get close to that height.
Yes, Agastache 'Blue Fortune' is an excellent choice for your full-sun perennial bed! It’s a stunning, pollinator-friendly plant that can reach up to 3 feet (90 cm) tall and about 2 feet (60 cm) wide, making it a great option for the back of your border. :)
They are expensive here
Same here - fortunately they self seed and you can easily dig up and move the small ones.
Looking forward to watching your videos 2025 …
Thank you for that ❤️❤️
Great tips thank you!!!

Love to see the beginning of spring, even if its just sowing seed. Just wondering if there's any thing that we grow in the US that you can't grow in Denmark.
Thank you for your kind words! It’s always exciting to embrace the start of spring, even if it’s just sowing seeds. 😊 As for your question, there are definitely some plants that are harder to grow here in Denmark compared to the US, mostly due to our climate on the east coast, which is **zone 8a**. While our winters are relatively mild, the shorter growing season, cooler summers, and higher humidity can make certain plants challenging. Heat-loving crops like okra, melons, and some long-season tomatoes often struggle without a greenhouse, and southern perennials like gardenias or crepe myrtles don’t enjoy our cooler, wetter conditions. Tender bulbs like cannas or caladiums also need extra protection here. Drought-tolerant plants, such as agave or yucca, sometimes don’t thrive due to our higher rainfall. Even heat-loving annuals like zinnias or cosmos need a head start indoors to reach their full potential. That said, we can grow so many plants in common, like echinacea, rudbeckia, lavender, peonies, and hardy vegetables like kale and carrots, which love the cooler climate. 😊
Hello Allan and Lars I'm glad you experimented first with these methods. If ever i overwinter in a plastic tub i will remember not to place holes on the lid. Lupins are rewarding plants and grow into bushy shrubs. Have you ever tried the yellow scented variety? The winter has settled into 'normal' in my part of the uk. No unexpected wind surges or flooding for us. Although 8 miles down the road a river burst it's banks and made travelling through the village impossible. Houses flank the river so possibly had to be evacuated. How does one escape in those circumstances? Enjoy your gardening and thanks for keeping in touch💞🌟🌟🥂
How terrible with all the flooding... is everything ok now? Sending positive thoughts for safety for everyone affected. For us, it's finally a sunny (NOT crazy windy) weekend... a real blessing after this past week.
@@perennial-garden hi...yes I believe so,but generally it's an ongoing problem when the river rises. Idyllic in the hotter weather, with outdoor garden furniture and wildlife swimming past.In my lifetime nothing has been done to address it. So buyers beware 💞
Hi ! It's great to see your face again !
Ahhhhhh tusind tak ❤️. Winter sowing is happening so I wanted to get this one out quickly. Happy weekend!
You must be eating a lot of meat! (not meant sexually)
Even neighbors have given us meat trays over the years 😂 And we use them year after year.
Another really useful video! I think it would be a great idea to do a video on what you sow each month. I’m guessing you sow a lot of things at once for Winter sowing but I’ve never been sure of the exact months!
You’re right, for winter sowing we sow a lot at once - and then they sprout when they’re ready. So we don’t really pay attention to the months - we do them all now when we have time. And then annuals in the spring (some in summer if they’re late flowering).
@@perennial-garden So January is usually the time for you then? That’s good to know! I always see different opinions on this but I trust yours the most as we all know you’re the seed expert 😂
😂 I’ll tell Allen to call me that too. Haha But yes, we sow everything now. Biennials we sowed in autumn or late summer so they have a better chance of flowering this year. But otherwise… Jan is best for us.
Thanks for your tips. It's second nature to you🎄❄️👏💞
We thought this one would come in handy so we made a quick today while sowing 🤓❤️
Thank you. Such useful info. Happy gardening 🙂
You’re so welcome! Just something quick that came up today while sowing 🥰

Thank you! And a big hello from Denmark :) We're actually going to visit Vietnam this summer :) Your channel will be great to watch :)
Great info thank you. Are your shelves just standard diy shelving ? Look perfect for me!
Yes, we bought them from a local hardware store (not the best quality, but they work great!) and then we painted them black to match the rest of the greenhouse (that we also painted black) :)
Flower Garden beautiful so cute.. 🥰😘😘😭😁👍🥀🌸💐🌷🌺🌻🌹
Thank you for watching!
Great video guys, love the innovative recycling ideas. Might just use them in the greenhouse though 😂 Would love more vids about growing from seed, I'm going to try my first perennials from seed this year and am struggling with what to choose! I want colourful things, ideally with some shade tolerance that won't self seed everywhere (I've got an oxalis problem, really hard to eradicate from paving!). Do you guys grow any centaurea sp? I love the look but I'm wary it's a spreader. Definitely doing a gaillardia based on your passion for it.
We do grow Mountain Cornflower (Centaurea montana) and it doesn't spread that bad here. We have others that require much more attention before they get out of hand ;) We have it in purple and white -- and it's great because you can deadhead it and make the flowering last longer than normal. Typically, they don't flower here for more than a few weeks. AND YES to the Gaillardia! The Mesa Peach is really pretty! Altho I love the 'classic' one, too :)
6:14 that's a good idea, with the glue gun tip. I lost part of my soldering iron, that I bought for these kind of jobs. Thanks!
Hope this will work for you until you get a new one :)
