      Thank you very much! Practice and learning from past mistakes. :) Plus, I am a big fan of "The four agreements" from Toltec Wisdom.
      Agreement 4: Always Do Your Best.
      "Toltec believes that if one does their best in any given moment, they will be able to avoid self-judgment and regret." so, whenever I take a short cut or become lazy when working on a craft, when I am done I am disappointed in myself knowing that I could of tried harder. That can create an unhappy state. If you try your best and it still does not come out great you know you gave your best effort and you avoid beating yourself up for hours on end. :) Sorry for this long response but your comment made me ponder my motivation and reminded me of the Toltec four agreements and to try to abide by them as much a possible. It helps to create a peaceful state.:) Thank you. :)

    Exceptional execution on this project and the video complexity is top notch. Question: I'd never seen the relief you did with the ball-stylus and the body of the octopus before. What is the material you used to fill the back after the relief work was done? It looked like glue or possibly epoxy and maybe sawdust? I'd love to give this technique a shot.

      It is actually leather dust mixed with rubber cement. It makes a great filler. after I push the leather out from the back to make it 3D I fill the space in with the leather dust filler. Then I put interior leather over it. It works great! Thank you for watching the video and feel free to ask anything. :)

    What kind/width of leather do you use ? Your knife seems to cut it like butter !

    • @baronleathercraft
      @baronleathercraft  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use Hermann Oak leather for the entire purse. For the front piece with the octopus I use 5-6 oz leather. I would not use anything thicker because it will be hard to do the embossing. 4-5 oz might even be better for this section. For the piece with the male latch just below the octopus I would not use anything less the 8oz because it will fold in from the pressure of the gusset. The gusset is 5-6 oz leather. I hope this helps! :) Thank you for the question.

    • @baronleathercraft

      Thank you for the question. I wish I had a good answer, I kind of loose myself when I am working on projects so I forget to pay attention to the time. I would say 2 or 3 days. Less if you work nonstop and I like to let the antique paste dry over night. Putting in the clasp on the cover can be a lil tricky. make sure you don't cut away to much material because the rivets have to attach to something. :) I hope this helps. :)
