    5/6 Oz leather, 1/4 inch lace, punch holes 3/16 inch (1/16 inch bigger than the lace), strap is 10 Oz and 1 inch leather for those wondering!

    • @mylastlight
      @mylastlight ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm confused because 3/16 is 1/16 smaller than 1/4, 5/16 would be what you need, or did he mean go 1/16 smaller

    • @chemclimber
      @chemclimber ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mylastlight I'd have to watch the video again... Tbh I don't often work in inches so I get a bit confused with all the 1/4 and 1/16ths flying around! I guess smaller would make sense if you wanted a tight fit. Although when I made the bag I did the 1/4, 3/16 as above and it worked out fine 😅

      I’m currently doing 3/16 holes and 1/4 lace and it’s tight I should have went 5/16. I think Eric misspoke.

      @williampierce5579 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No you want it to be slightly smaller. It’s a circle with a square lace so it will stretch into a tight fit which is what you want. I’ve made this pattern and it was perfect. Hope this helps. I know I’m late to your comment lol @mylastlight

    I made this bag in the early 70’s. I had a lovely brass “rising sun” pendant (a lot like a harness brass decoration) that slipped through a slit in the flap instead of the leather strap for the closure. I used a natural veg tan leather and let it develop its own patina. I loved that bag for many years, until I lost it in a house fire.

    Very easy pattern and the results are lovely. Made three already. I made 2 of them 10% larger than the smaller pattern. That size is perfect for me.

    Ahoy Eric! Hope you're doing great. Just replied to one of the comments here but I'd rather try to ask you here.
    I'm from Brazil and I noticed some folks got confused the same way as me with regards to punch and lace. Also when I looked at my ruler with some conversions from inch to cm they have some dozens and hundredths, so would you know what I could use to make it work down here?
    I imagine something like: punch = 5cm hole and lace 6.25cm or try to go to 6.5cm (but still a bit confused cause I thought it should be the opposite)

    I'm confused. The lace is 1/4 inch = 4/16ths
    You said you would use a punch that is 1/16th larger. 4 + 1 = 5, or 5/16ths
    However, you stated you used a 3/16ths punch.
    Did you actually use a 3/16ths or a 5/16ths punch?
    Thank you for this otherwise great project idea and pattern pack.

    • @davidbruno818
      @davidbruno818 ปีที่แล้ว

      The math or the word larger/smaller?

    • @maddawgnoll
      @maddawgnoll ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure he meant 5/16" holes, and just misspoke. It happens. Definitely looks to be that way with how easy he pulled the lace through

    • @Blackdragonproject
      @Blackdragonproject ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just tested and can confirm that the punch should be 3/16th. 5/16th is way too big and leaves quite large gaps around 1/4 inch lace. I also tried with a #4 (5/32), and it is too tight to pull through without a lot of difficulty and leaves the lace looking folded and compresses. So I'm off to buy another punch!

    • @pedromaldonado4291
      @pedromaldonado4291 ปีที่แล้ว
