    I had the same journey, as I'm certain did many others. Interesting to hear your take on GAS - and I agree with your advice. Thank you for an insightful and candid video. 🙂

    Thanks for the insights man...as a beginner in photography and videography it's relieving to hear that storytelling and intentionality is more important than gear acquisition...definitely makes me feel more confident about using what i got to the best of my ability rather than feeling like i can't or am not allowed to create unless i have a certain standard of gear...much appreciated!!!

    Your honesty ia a breath of fresh air, you have good attitude man, im just half way through the video but stopped to share my thoughts before i continue to watch🙂 this is really common to a lot of us, we need to focus on creation not on gear aquisiton. But as tyler durden said "advertising got us chasing cars and clothes, working in jobs we hate so we can buy shit we dont need"

    I've recently dropped off a lot of camera gear that I wasn't using at my local camera shop for consignment. They pay less than what I'd get by selling through Craigslist / eBay (even after their fees, and PayPal fees) but I feel good about supporting them and don't have to take the headache of posting , meeting up people, and /or shipping. And they give me special discounts if I buy other gear.

    Great video regarding the old bugaboo: G.A.S.! New subscriber.

    Your “justification” for the various lenses and filters you’ve purchased are the same reasons I justified my gear and found myself not shooting in those scenarios as well. I feel ya.

    Haha I loved when you mentioned your drone trying to get sunset picture for you. Thanks for this movie, Im a heavy example of GAS syndrome and needed to hear this before buying new stuff

      Yeah! I'm glad you like it! I should really do a GAS update video, because let's just say that I have not been very good about it over the summer. I just want all the GEAR! Be strong my friend. Be strong!

    Good video, as a musician and photographer-videographer I have the same old fight with myself. Gear matter but you can do a lot with basic stuff and from a certain point, price crazy increase and quality not as high. Regards from Spain!

    The difficulty is: As a beginner with a kit lens you have no idea what you like and what would benefit you. Do you like big aperture lenses for bokeh? Do you like zooms or primes? Do you like small gear? Which focal lengths do you prefer? So maybe you SHOULD buy a lot of lenses. Buy them used and buy different kinds of lenses. Don’t buy two 50mm lenses, one with f2 and the other with f.1.2. You won’t learn anything. Buy small lenses and big lenses and buy all kinds of focal lengths to experiment with. Buy them cheap. And after you’ve learned what you actually prefer, sell all the crap you don’t need.

    Wait but did you manage to get the footage of the Wales from the 2nd Drone? 😅

      Ha. I got some shots. No "lose a drone" worthy shots, though.

    What’s the difference between a collection and G.A.S?

    • @TheDemonsunleashed
      @TheDemonsunleashed 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just two different forms of consumerism. Collectors buy stuff for the hype/legacy but don't really use them much whereas G.A.S your constantly buying things as if it will make you take better photos/video

      I've seen a couple of extreme GAS filmmakers where they couldn't keep themselves from buying the latest thing and just kept buying and selling, buying and selling, to the point where they weren't even shooting anything. They never kept a camera long enough to get comfortable with it, there was always some little reason why it wasn't perfect for them.
