Perfect timing with this video. I am currently in the marked for some new wheels for my z32. Knew what sizes i wanted but i was confused on what off set to go with. God has answered my prayer. Thx guys!
Great to see such informative content getting out there without having to scour the forums! What about the 5th wheel, though? The low-profile spare tire for these older cars doesn't last forever and is hard to replace these days. Recommendations?
My plan is as follows, lmk what you think: 1990 JDM 300ZX TT manual with 13-piece twinz widebody kit Volk Te37 time attack 18x10.5 +22 square setup with Toyo T1 Proxes 275-35-18 I think it'll look pretty sick.
My setup is going to be a little similar. I've got a 1991 2 + 2 naturally aspirated of course. Going with the same wide body kit. I am still undecided on the wheels though. I've got the body kit sitting in the garage while I'm saving up the money to get it put on and painted the color I want as well as interior work. But I'm definitely going to slide some other 10 and a half inch or 11 inch tires in the back. Maybe nine and a half to 10 inches up front. Going for a staggered setup. I kind of like those ESR cs-15s. But then again I am a sucker for wheels that have fewer spokes. Like three spokes or five smokes or six. Four just looks weird to me. If I could ever get a pair of Yokohama super Advan sa3rs custom made to my taste without destroying my bank account or costing almost as much as the paint job is going to cost me. I would do those wheels within a heartbeat. Edit: also I was going to do a twin turbo conversion. But I'm still bouncing between that idea or an LS or LT swap. Yeah yeah I know. Everybody's sick of LS swaps. Unfortunately the LS motor is stupidly cheap and makes a lot of power and very small and is stupidly easy to work on. Seems like a no-brainer. Not to mention it can pump out 600 horsepower while still being naturally aspirated. I figure about 625 as my goal horsepower and if I can do it with as much reliability as possible and fewer moving parts as possible. Why not? It'll be cheaper to maintain and if something breaks on it parts are every goddamn where for super cheap.
@@slicktop2jz855 I actually took all of my measurements, to make sure they would fit. Regardless of who you are at one point you'll doubt your own measurements
I'm a big z32 guy, pushed the limits with: 18x10 +45 with 305 35 18 r888 tires 19x10.5 +50 with 305 30 19 r888 tires Never a fan of wide wheels/thin tires on a modded TT car
+38 is fine. +22 is actually a bit too low and will nearly always require rolling/fender modification to fit. The object is to not roll/pull fenders or quarter panels on any car if you can help it as it takes away from the structural rigidity of the fender/quarter panel to resist impact and anything leaning up against the surface, and spacers pull the center of the wheel further from the centerline of the hub bearing, creating uneven pressure an wearing the bearing out more quickly. The Z32 can handle up in the low to mid 40's for offsets depending on wheel spoke and brake caliper design, and the mid to high 30's are normally close to perfect fitment or only require a tiny spacer without the need to stretch tires or fender/quarter panels, nor roll them. 10" or wider wheels will require a more aggressive offset +20~30, but this greatly depends on which subframe is under the rear of the car, as the TT has less clearance for wider wheels than the NA due to the hicas 4WS components. In the end, it's your car, have fun.
@@jeremysteib8378 thank you very much for the informative reply. I myself do not wish to roll or stretch fenders. Was a bit worried when the video recommended +25 to +35. Again, I greatly appreciate your answer and clarification.

ive been heavily considering the first setup, 18x9.5 +22 on 255/40...will the ride be fine on stock suspension (no coilovers)? no rubbing or fender rolling?
I got 18x9.5 +20 on my Z and with the natural camber from lowering the car and a set of 235/40s it is very flush. Needs a roll but that’s to be expected for the offset tho. Mind the tire size, my wheels came with 275s mounted and they poked all ugly
Today my tires blow up (literally all 4 tires) but since my z have the stock wheels maybe it was a signal to to buy the a set wheels and tyres, so this video couldn’t be better haha

20 will work on the front. Would only work with about an 8.5 rim/ 245 tire on the rear. Z32 needs more offset on the rear 30/35 to fit 265 tiers or more
