  • In this video I delete the EGR and Plenum coolant line systems on a 1990-1996 Nissan 300zx. I also go over on how to remove your fuel rail from the lower plenum and how to remove your stock headers. This is epsiode 2 of my complete overhaul on a bone stock engine. Below is a list of parts in which I ordered to do the overhaul list. For z32's I'd advise to order the list before getting deep into the project to cut down on wait time. I hope you uys enjoy it!
    (I mainly ordered everything from z1 and advance autoparts)
    Parts List:
    -Z1 EGR delete kit
    - Z1 120k service kit (2 idler pulleys, Timing belt, z1 coolant bypass tubes, Belt tensioner, Water pump, thermostat, cam seals, front main seal, crank gear)
    - Oil tree gasket
    - Plenum gasket
    - Valve cover seals
    - Fuel injector to plenum o-rings
    - Rear main seal
    - Rear main bracket gasket
    - IACV Gasket
    -Throttle body gasket
    - PCV delete caps
    - Oil catch can
    - Power steering rebuild kit
    - Oil pan gaskets
    - Oil tree check valve
    - z1 one piece clutch line
    - Z spec ultimate package
    - Z1 fuel line kit
    - Fuel injectors
    - Fuel injector adapter kit

    One thing I've learned over the last 25 years working on cars, if it feels excessively difficult to do a job, you're not using the correct tool. There are tools for every type of job to make it easier, sometimes you just need to take a step back and evaluate what the proper tool is that the job requires. Keep up the good work!

    Couldn't have done it without you, I do appreciate it.
    Well as you said, it can be done with the motor in. I just completed the EGR delete. Really was not that bad, it took several hours, but I didn't break anything and I am not bleeding, overall, I call that a win. One thing I did to make it easier to get the tube out of the exhaust manifold was to remove the master cylinder from the booster. Being careful not to bend the tubes too much, I moved it a little up and back toward the firewall. Access was easy after that. Also, I only removed one of the hard coolant lines, the one that is on the left if you are looking at the back of the motor. With all the other items out of the way, it should be fairly easy to reinstall. The one directly on the back of the motor, on the right side, was too difficult to reach, you cannot see the bolts, I suppose you could use a mirror if you wanted too, but that was going to be my last resort if I couldn't get the tube out. I would not recommend removing this one if you don't have to. I had to cut the hardline that connects to the bottom of the plenum on the passenger side to get the line out. After that, it slid right out. Also, the bolts that hold the EGR in are too long and must be left in to remove the unit, this was mentioned in the video.
    Question: Is there another video of how to put it all back together? I am sure I could figure it out, but I love a good video. You may have one out there, I could have overlooked it.
    Once again, appreciate it, I watched your video several time to get me thru it, overall, most excellent.

    It’s awesome that you do the delete. I am in the process of doing the same on a ‘92 NA. By looking at the video you mentioned about cutting the coolant lines but then it seemed as if there was nothing there when you were done. Do you have an actual picture of what the engine looks like with everything deleted? Also once you are done we don’t see you do anything on the mounting as far as what needs to be deleted around the fire wall and the completion on the final installation. Is that on another video that I don’t know of. Thanks

    • @ZBruhzchannel

      The bolts holding the egr to the engine are 12mm, the big nut is 22mm, and the coolant piping that is in the way is 10mm I do remember seeing someone saying they used a 1 1/8 in. Wrench for a different nut but were not specific about which one

  • @michaelbarrett8803
    @michaelbarrett8803 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there a way to just deactivate the EGR system but leave the valve and the piping in the car? I'm into my TT and I'm down to the valve covers. I'm going to do the coolant delete, the PCV delete and the EGR delete. The lines off the coolant tubes you were talking about cutting and welding shut are used in the TT for the cooling lines that run to and return from the turbos. I did the EGR with the engine in the car and the plenum off. I had to remove the exhaust pipe on the drivers side, the pipe from the turbo to the exhaust. That is how I got the 22mm exhaust tube out of the driver's side exhaust manifold. I had to remove the driver's side coolant tube from the back of the engine to get at the EGR. You will have to get the two bolts that holds the valve on and the two side pipes that run to the underside of the plenum. It was a pain, I think it took around three hours and I have a lift. Thanks for the great video.

    After seeing how unnecessarily complex the VG is (I got a Z32 TT), after doing the 120K service (in my garage), I'm going LS. I hope you guys do the same or go 2JZ. That VG is a pita! I'm in California too, where the motor swap and smog laws are stoooopid strict. But you guys are in a different part of the country where it's much easier to get by on.....Go LS. They're cheaper to build than VG's or VG30DETT's. 400 horses on the dyno with relatively little effort.

    • @ZBruhzchannel

    Ok quick question. I bought some headers used from eBay and the part where the EGR threads in is capped off with some gnarly puddy inside as well. Can I just cut off that one pipe that goes Into the headers and cap it for now? I have the transmission out of the car and currently have access to the whole rear of the car EGR assembly. P.S. what a nightmare doing headers was with the engine in the car OMG 2/10 would not recommend

    What's the purpose of removing the coolant lines for the plenum and the EGR?

    • @ZBruhzchannel
      @ZBruhzchannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The coolant lines tend to burst due to the age of the car. Many rot away, and the main purpose of them are to warm up the throttle bodies on cold days. By deleting the egr the car will be able to breathe a lot better. Over years the egr can clog and cause issues within the motor.

    Why would you delete those coolant line from the throttle body and onward wouldn't that hurt the performance?

    • @ZBruhzchannel
      @ZBruhzchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No this does not, engineers applied these lines to help with cold start ups to warm the plenum and throttle bodies. Good idea, but unfortunately for old cars things break and corrode and by deleting these before this happens save a future headache from happening

  • @andytorres1125

    Ima get one so im farely new to this but whats the point in deleting it

    • @ZBruhzchannel
      @ZBruhzchannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The point of deleting the coolant lines is within time after all the heat they see iver the years they burst and it is a pain to get to anything else when they are still attached. To delete the egr this will help with having the car run more efficiently and give the ability for the motor to breathe. If it has never been done you will see some black sludge within the ports of the egr and that causes issues.

    Do 1996 300zx’s have aiv? I deleted my EGR and I’m getting a rough idle now but it drives smooth. I have a brand new wiring harness made by wiring specialties, have new spark plugs and injectors installed by Z1. Cylinder 3 has been slightly misfiring at idle and I swapped COP from 3 to 2 (which is a working one) and it still misfired on 3. This leads me to believe that either it is something bottom end, which makes no sense because it drives fine, or it is MAF, or AIV not being fully deleted. I did not cap off the front like in this video only because I’m not sure if I have AIV’s. Thank you
