Thanks, that's very helpful! However, I'm not sure about the wording. I think adding fake Ambient Occlusion doesn't make things more real, but more fake. Not sure if "more fake" can be called "more professional". At 11:57 “this is how I changed my flat 3D render into a professional 3D render”, the flat one looks more real to me. The “professional” has made the light from the window go away and everything looks slightly toyish. The light from the window should bloom if anything, but with the extra AO it doesn't look as a window, but as white paper with shadow projected on it. Humans tend to prefer more AO because it increases contrast and we are contrast junkies, but it's not "more real" or "more professional", I would say.
thanks for the explanation, but I had doubts about the radius, if you leave it 1 or 10.... do you have any material to render elements which are used in internal and external?
Yes. In newer versions of VRay it is locked by default. When you increase render setting in render setup window it will be automatically improve subdivs quality. The number will remain 8 and locked but quality will improve.
You don't need to change subsivs. It will automatically be calculated according to your render settings. I'll suggest you watch low and high resolution settings tutorial on the channel
Yes. You can use it for exterior rendering. Product rendering. PBR materials is something totally different. Don't mix ambient occlusion pass with PBR materials.
And I also have a request please include tutorials for making complex pbr materials with out any help of material maker scripts or apps ( in 3ds max vray and also in others applications)
Why do you wan't to use this technique. We use to do it in other rendering engine. It's an old technique. My personal suggestion don't do it. It's a cheat. we use to create fake GI effect.
I am working since 2005 in 3D field. The compositor always ask for an AO pass, along with other passes. First you do the normal lighting. When you finish the lighting. Then at the end along with other passes you give compositor AO pass. It's not a hack.
First, I don't look at other people channels. Because I know VRay from working in field. Second, do you know about render passes? Third, If you don't like it. I'm not pushing you to do it. But when you go to a big team. Who have compositor you will understand what I'm taking about.
@@SWKTutorials Maybe you should look at what others do before declaring professionals amateurs.. you can observe that others do flawless photoreal visualization without using the crude game hack ambient occlusion. I understand you can cheat a lot in compositing with a good artist and if the GI resolution isn't great I guess AO gives you some darker corners but it's not the only way.

where to put AO map while texturing an object?
Ambient occlusion map used in texturing is something extremely different.
This method add details to the whole scene.
there's a way to apply the AO texture to material?
