Waggy Doo my favourite line is “I LIKED YOU BETTER WHEN YOU WAS A CHAIR” ~ Zim “I LIKED YOU WHEN YOU WAS A TOILET 🚽 “ ~ Dib “I WASNT A TOILET , I WAS IN IT” ~ Zim
I do remember reading that in prior interviews, Vasquez regretted never fleshing out Gaz's character in the original series, so the changes made to Gaz were expected.
I watched through the original series before the movie, and while Gaz is different, it does feel more like character growth than an outright alteration to her personality coming straight from the show to the film.
What won me over with this movie was Professor Membranes heart-to-heart with his Son, Dib. “You don’t have to prove anything. I’m always proud of you.”
That was like the one legitimate moment the series has ever had, surprised it has gotten so little acknowledgement. I suspected they weren't really going to kill Membrane but the moment was so touching and final that I genuinely wondered.
Membrane as the Papa Wolf, “I love my kids and I’ll tear you apart if you hurt them” character was AMAZING. I wish we got more of that in the show itself! If they ever reboot IZ, they have to keep that part of his character.
I was kind of disappointed that Zim didn't win, but it's actually a logical conclusion. The Tallest sent Zim away because he was so incompetent but Zim's sheer global incompetence was so powerful he managed to completely destroy the Irken Fleet. He's like the punch line to a joke
I read a comment from a writer of Invader Zim that his Pak was corrupted by a virus from a Vort scientist to destroy the Irkens from within. Zim is incredibly competent but his actions always result in harming the Irken society. He is essentially the most important person in the universe just not in the way he thinks.

That's what made them for me, few comedic dictators have been able to balance competence and humor that well, and to see it squandered really hurt. What happened to the Red who reacted to their ship "malfunctioning" by running a diagnostic while at the same time commanding the ship's crew to save their snacks? Not to mention their scenes had some of the most noticeably cheep-looking tweening. Don't get me wrong, I loved this little special, I just hope that if they do continue making Zim content, that they treat my boys a bit better.
Agreed. In the original show they were spoiled rotten by their position of power, but they were still competent and could do their jobs. Although, I think their dumbness in the movie served a purpose: to demonstrate how unfairly they were built up in Zim's head as mighty leaders that needed to be appeased. It really emphasized his delusions of grandeur.
I always assumed they just grew tired of constant destruction since they've seen it all and wanted to explore the Florpus because it was something new. (Definitely went hilariously wrong)
He did seem flanderized here, just like in the later eps of the show. I miss when GIR was able to speak somewhat normally and have a comversation with Zim, instead of just shouting random Non Sequitors.
Honestly, I'm impressed with how clean and how much brighter and colorful it looked without losing an ounce of the absurdity that makes Zim "Zim." You can tell the maturity and depravity level of people by what territory they want a franchise to go into. If they want swearing, more violence and gore... that's a big sign of immaturity and depravity- not maturity. But the fact that Zim decided to imbue more color and not embrace skeezier themes I think shows the franchise has matured somewhat. It didn't rely on shock value or copious violence: it stayed true to its main ensemble, gave them each moments to shine, imbued a bit more color and hope into things and was as wildly off-the-wall as it ever was. I applaud the new direction and just thought it was a solid step in the right direction.
I loved every second of it, and I loved that the characters actually felt like characters, with change and emotion (including zim). My one complaint is that it didn't really "wrap up the story" as much has I hoped. Like you said, the movie didn't feel like another episode... except, for me anyway, the ending. It ended like a normal episode, which was kinda disappointing. There also was no confrontation of irkens and humans, like I hoped. Sure, they aimed guns at Earth, but only because it was in their way of flying in a straight line, which was funny, but it felt like a forced plot point. I was hoping that dib would meet the tallest, or zim would learn the truth of his mission (he _kinda_ does, but he thinks it just isn't in their agenda to visit, rather than they wanted him dead). But the tallest really didn't play a role in this film- hell, one of the mothership pilots had more character and focus than them. I know my criticisms are just my expectations not being met, which means they aren't really criticisms. And that is a good thing because this was seriously amazing.
How to say you took the words right out of my mouth. Invaders them was and still is a very good cartoon. But what I was really hoping for from that movie was a solid conclusion that tells the spectators and better yet the fans that it's over we've had a good run thank you for watching goodbye.
To be honest, I still think the series should continue. We still have unresolved storylines, like what would happen to Skoodge, or if Tak would ever resurface.
yeah like are there irkings as dumb as zim like invaders skutch, stink or flobee from planet jackers and to see more of the resisty also more of invaders skoodge, tak and invader tenn that where going to show up more if the show was not cancelled.
I was kind of expecting the movie to be like a final conclusion of the series with everything wrapped up, but my guess is Jhonen just wanted to have people relive the nostalgia and left things open ended for a possible continuation? Or it was all part of his EVIL plan to make us read the comics MWAHAHAHAAA
Dang, I would be very happy if it continued, I really adore this show, and I'm sad I've only got to know about its existence a few days ago... Hopefully if they continue it, they won't start everything over again but continue from where they've stopped.
I think it was a great way to satisfy the fans and bring the series back. Not only that, but they did a really creative move by making Dib the protagonist of the film rather than Zim. (Heck, I’m pretty sure that Dib actually got the most screen time out of the both of them.) But since Zim is the title character, he wasn’t going to get completely disrespected. When his plans were revealed, my jaw hit the floor over how much he thought of and got away with. I mean, he PREDICTED Dib would get fat and gross, he was just surprised by how extreme the results were. The only complaint I have was how Gir and The Tallest were used. Gir was purely comic relief outside of the peace song, which was a bit of a waste in hindsight. And The Tallest were just total morons and completely wasted. It would have been one thing if Purple was comic relief on his own, but Red was actually really competent in the past (especially with “Back seat drivers from beyond the stars”. In which he tried to take control of the chaotic situation). Yet they didn’t do anything besides act as plot devices who got (hilariously) screwed over in the ending.
My biggest complaint was it was a little too.... childish and tamed. I know, it’s a kids cartoon, but what made the original good was how creepy and grotesque everything was. People would actually die, and go through horrendous amount of pain. And Gaz actually hated Dib in the show, which was one of the funniest parts. Still a good movie though
The creator wanted to give more focus to her as a character and grow. She prob matured after all that time since Zim left a d grew concerned of Dibs depression. I thought it was a nice yet unexpected moment they had in the prison. Plus in a movie (especially a movie adaptation of a series) stakes are higher, plot, emotions and tensions between characters are increased to the max so I'm not surprised since Gaz and Dibs real sibling relationship would be revealed since it is a family matter they are dealing with whilst trying to save the world
Tbh I rlly liked it, it wasn't what I was expecting (I kinda wanted to go more into the control brains/The Trial/Zim finding out he was defective) but it was still really good!
@@devincasebeer4459 it was revealed in an unaired episode called The Trial. Idk if it's canon per say, since it wasnt aired but still Edit: I looked at the tv tropes, and it wasn't that Zim himself was defective, it's more his PAK is faulty.
I think she continued to grow up while dib melded with the chair. The dark and doomy phase eased off into this current phase where she’s more relaxed and not about to kill bypassers
@@itsraventm I think it's because the comic based on Invader Zim actually gave her more focus than she did on the show, and, from what I heard, the creator of the show wished that there were episodes expanding Gaz's character. So... To end all that, they basically used the comic version of her character in the movie, instead of the personality she had in the actual show.
I thought it was nice to see that sibling relationship with Gaz and Dib when she reminds Dib that he's her brother, revealing why she makes fun of him and doesn't like to see him sad. Plus the creator mentioned that there were siblinghood moments between Gaz and Dib in the comics that weren't portrayed much in the show so they wanted to bring that to the movie.
Watched it yesterday amazing movie i had my doubts at first but i’m so glad this movie made me eat my words it’s such a breath of fresh air of creativity and I encourage everybody that hasn’t seen it to go watch it right away so i applaud Netflix you came through
The quote "I am 12 years old" has memed hard and I am so happy. That opening was FLAWLESS. They changed some of the character designs but for the better. I'm glad they stayed true.
@@islandboy9381 I found the plot to be fairly reasonable if not tame for a movie. Zim's reactions to everything were always over the top. It could have fit right in with the series imo
On the part where his computer house is "sneaking" and stealing power from the neighbors, one of the power lines grabs onto a man & sucks him dry like a raisin. That was pretty dark.
Jocelyn Rodriguez because he wanted to prove a point to the almighty tallest that he is a well being of an invader and not a fry cook or a mistake to the whole crew of invaders and their mighty tallest.
Check out “The Nightmare Begins”, “Tak the Hideous New Girl”, “Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars” and “Dibship Rising” to get a pretty good idea of some bigger plot points in the movie
@Dark Shadow Storm True, the tallest give some insight too but is better to watch the show How else could you really apreciate things like "A ROOM WITY A MOOSE"
i wasn’t expecting a fight scene and here i was... absolutely surprised and amazed how it looked 😍 the movie was amazing, especially animation-wise. it was also awesome seeing dib and gaz bonding.
1:34 "But if you thought that this is simply an extended episode.." Saberspark: "It's just like an extended episode!" ...both say nice things about this movie, but which review is greater!?
Wordplay Reviews you never know. Out of Klasky Csupo’s Nickelodeon properties, Wild Thornberries would definitely be next in line for a revival before Rocket Power, As Told By Ginger or Aaahh Real Monsters.
As someone who never watched Zim growing up but always had a strong fascination with the show, this movie was quite the treat! I enjoyed every minute of it, and some folks said the animation was subpar but I didn't see it. It just seemed like Zim. It definitely made me laugh out loud a couple times also. Amazing film. 9/10.
If they do revive it into a TV show, if think it'd be better on Netflix than on Nick. It'd probably make more money, and it'd also hopefully allow more of its original humor to be implemented into the new one.
Incoming: SPOILER ALERT Personally it was frustrating seeing how Professor Membrane couldn't come to terms of reality despite all the evidence in front of him.. *gets hit* "Wow this feels so real!" "This is all an illusion son" lookin ass.. smh but I get the continuity thing in case there ever was a revival
It's part of his character. He's never going to see the paranormal because he's stubbornly convinced that it's not real. It's a commentary on certain people denying things despite overwhelming evidence.
So I watched the movie on Netflix and it was amazing and I like how the characters refer to the time gap between the last episode and the movie as “a long time”. Not even they know how long it's been.
If I had to make a guess for their timescale... I’d say the gap was a couple of months. One year at most. If it was to our timescale, Dib and Gaz would be adults.
When I heard about this movie despite I never watched the show, I watched the show for the rest of last year and it was amazing! This movie was beautiful and amazing. My favorite character is the clone guy
Totally awesome, the only complaints I have are the very specific seconds of cheap flash animation. Everything else is amazing, no problems with story or pacing. The visuals are ASTONISHING and CHAOTIC!!!
Movie was amazing. Dib's family was more involved in the plot and he managed to smooth things over with them. Art style is colorful, cleaner, and extremely appealing, best background work and shot direction I've ever seen in a movie. Only real issue I had with the movie was the plot. There was no Tak, despite her ship being in the movie. (The ship got excited about Moo-Ping10, a prison facility....that I assumed held Tak, but alas no Tak...I wished the ship an an ulterior motive..) Zim seemed too excessively villainized in the second half, in the show I felt like Zim was starting to like Earth a little. Considering Zim never fit in with Irk, versus Dib never fitting in with Earth, it would have been nice if these two became actual friends at some point. Dib was originally going to join the "Resistance", an alien group determined to stop Irken soldiers, he would be accepted among the aliens. Versus when Zim was found out by humans in the episode where his vehicle was stolen, he's put on a throne and worshipped by humans. It was just annoying that after all this time Zim still refuses to acknowledge the Tallest and all of Irk hated him. Would have been cool to see him become depressed, and the Tallest decide to destroy Earth with him on it so they don't ever have to worry about him again. Dib finds out Zim nearly destroyed Irk, which is what lead him to being banished in the first place. So Dib gets the idea to convince Zim the Tallest are actually afraid of him and his potential, he could conquer the entire Irken empire, no more Tallest. It's time for the new leader to be the Smallest! So Dib and Zim have a team-up, ect... they destroy the Irken Armada, Zim hands over leadership to Skooge, and decides to stay on Earth, since he still has yet to properly finish his first conquering mission (secretly he just likes Earth and his rivalry with Dib) Something like that, with a set conclusion would have been a lot better personally. Story just felt really stale. Side from that, movie was incredible. Don't even get me started on Membrane's arms and battle scenes.... (and Minimoose lmao)
I wanna see this movie so badly, Help me i can't sign into Netflix omg i'm dying HELP ME Edit: Yes, Yesterday i had watched the movie, It was amazing, I could never find any other great movie like this, :D
I think it was perfect. I think my only complaint about it is that the Tallest aren’t really funny and for some reason are idiots where in the show, they were more like how a teenager sees his annoying brother. They hated Zim, but they were never full retard. They went full retard in this movie
In all honesty, the revival was special, and quite cohesive and refreshing than the average Netflix adaptation

Not to mention the Resisty and the War on Meekrob. Plus, there was so much Irken lore we had yet to see unfold.
Honestly I was really hoping the movie would actually dive into those things
yeah like are there irkings as dumb as zim like invaders skutch, stink or flobee from planet jackers and to see more of the resisty also more of invaders skoodge, tak and invader tenn that where going to show up more if the show was not cancelled.

Invader Zim: MINIMOOSE
"The one scene that gave me chills"
Also....
SNEAKING!!!!
Minimoose was always my favorite character even if he only appeared in one episode of the series.
This movie filled me with Minimoose joy.

SNEAKING!

The scene when they was changing styles freaked me out...
I think it was a great way to satisfy the fans and bring the series back. Not only that, but they did a really creative move by making Dib the protagonist of the film rather than Zim. (Heck, I’m pretty sure that Dib actually got the most screen time out of the both of them.)
But since Zim is the title character, he wasn’t going to get completely disrespected.
I loved the movie. I hope we eventually see Zim again
They used Gaz's design from the comics.

I kinda found this song genuinely creepy when I first heard it 😂
Tbh I rlly liked it, it wasn't what I was expecting (I kinda wanted to go more into the control brains/The Trial/Zim finding out he was defective) but it was still really good!
Zim's defective? I mean I always knew he was incompetent, but where was it reviled he was defective?
@@devincasebeer4459 it was revealed in an unaired episode called The Trial. Idk if it's canon per say, since it wasnt aired but still
Edit: I looked at the tv tropes, and it wasn't that Zim himself was defective, it's more his PAK is faulty.
@@acetrainerliz2603 ahh I see. Thank you for clearing that up.
@@devincasebeer4459 It's no prob!
I was hoping to see Tak actually show up for the fight and join the membrane family but it was still really good lol
I loved every second of it. Although, I missed Gaz's edgy personality but it didn't bother me as much.
Yeah, i always loved her portrayal in the original show, mainly Game Slave 2 and the Taster of Pork ep.
It definitely felt out of place, but it didnt bother me either. I just wish that they showed why she was being nicer.
I saw the anime Dib cutscene _and already knew_ it was gonna be good.
Watched it yesterday amazing movie i had my doubts at first but i’m so glad this movie made me eat my words it’s such a breath of fresh air of creativity and I encourage everybody that hasn’t seen it to go watch it right away so i applaud Netflix you came through
Shortly after Zim teleported the Earth, I got violent Weirdmageddon flashbacks
Yes I remember Wierdmaggedon :0
Ohhhh THATS what it reminded me offf😂
We all know that Invader Zim is the greatest anime of all time
The quote "I am 12 years old" has memed hard and I am so happy. That opening was FLAWLESS. They changed some of the character designs but for the better. I'm glad they stayed true.
Vailskibum94 The Movie was amazing, do you agree that they should do a revival series on nicktoons & do some cool crossovers on it.
I think they should, I really want to see if GIR creates anymore songs! I loved the movie overall
I prefer the comics. Plus... You want Nickelodeon to handle a reboot?
Revival on Netflix, more creative freedom.
@@Vamoss39 why would it necessarily be a reboot
I think they are making a jimmy neutron reboot or am I mistaken.
Why are you wearing those shirts? I never HIRED YOUUU!!
I actually thought they were going to have a higher rating. Not swearing levels, but more to do more dark humor.
Gir eating babies was fairly dark
Yea it had less disturbing humor than the original series but the dumb situations being so over the top made up for it to me
@@islandboy9381 I found the plot to be fairly reasonable if not tame for a movie. Zim's reactions to everything were always over the top. It could have fit right in with the series imo
On the part where his computer house is "sneaking" and stealing power from the neighbors, one of the power lines grabs onto a man & sucks him dry like a raisin. That was pretty dark.
There are exeptions for tv revivals like for instance samurai jack they managed to capture the feel of the old show with adding in new elements.
The film was mostly great, though the ending felt underwhelming to me.
Agreed, the tallest died anticlimactically
Ni Mi let be real hear they deserved it
Doom Demon Guess they’re dead than all anticlimactic.
Exactly! Why did Zim even care to call them again?
Jocelyn Rodriguez because he wanted to prove a point to the almighty tallest that he is a well being of an invader and not a fry cook or a mistake to the whole crew of invaders and their mighty tallest.
I love how this took the day I was born till now for this to come out, so I have a literally been waiting my whole life for this!
why does it have some scenes that make Dib look like Jotaro?
I personally like to think it was because Dib was binge watching anime while he was spying on Zim lol
Usually I wouldn’t laugh at about every joke in a movie, but this was just incredible.
I hope that Jhonen makes a revival of Invader Zim in Netflix only (also a revival of Rocko from Joe Murray)
@Stevean2 i hope that he gets the rights of Invader Zim so he can work with his team and make the revival only for netflix
There is a comic series. I'm saying this since no one seems to know. SPREAD THE WORD! SPREAD IT LIKE THE PLAGUE! EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW!
*Sees Invader Zim in title*
*Clicks video almost breaking phone*
I havent even watched the og series but I still want to watch Enter the Florpus 😂
Watch the first episode so you can get a good idea of what’s going on
Me too
Check out “The Nightmare Begins”, “Tak the Hideous New Girl”, “Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars” and “Dibship Rising” to get a pretty good idea of some bigger plot points in the movie
The movie explains a lot at the beggining tho
It won't make much sense but they explain it
@Dark Shadow Storm True, the tallest give some insight too but is better to watch the show
How else could you really apreciate things like "A ROOM WITY A MOOSE"
The part where professor Membrane said “but I was always proud of you” to dib hit me hard
I watched the movie yesterday before bed and I ended up having a dream of watching a live action Invader Zim movie. 😐
Disney disease strikes
Was it good?
@@mx-mongoose9261 hopefully
My favorite part is always going to be when dr.membrane rushes to a crowd member just to correct him
My favorite is when he's laughing and drinking tea while everyone was screaming 😅 I had to watch that twice because I could not stop laughing.
i wasn’t expecting a fight scene and here i was... absolutely surprised and amazed how it looked 😍 the movie was amazing, especially animation-wise. it was also awesome seeing dib and gaz bonding.

...both say nice things about this movie, but which review is greater!?
If you don't think the opening was amazing, you must be very -dimwitted- *_zimwitted_*
i’ve been waiting all this years since i was still in middle school! i’m so happy the invader zim fandom is alive again!
Wild Thornberries should be next. Would love to see more from them.
Wordplay Reviews you never know. Out of Klasky Csupo’s Nickelodeon properties, Wild Thornberries would definitely be next in line for a revival before Rocket Power, As Told By Ginger or Aaahh Real Monsters.
I would want Tim to get better first before that happens.
Well, they *are* planning a bunch of movies about old Nick shows.
Wordplay Reviews Nah, My life as a teenage robot
As someone who never watched Zim growing up but always had a strong fascination with the show, this movie was quite the treat! I enjoyed every minute of it, and some folks said the animation was subpar but I didn't see it. It just seemed like Zim. It definitely made me laugh out loud a couple times also. Amazing film. 9/10.
I loved the emotional parts of the movie, it makes the movie feel much bigger than what it is
If they do revive it into a TV show, if think it'd be better on Netflix than on Nick. It'd probably make more money, and it'd also hopefully allow more of its original humor to be implemented into the new one.
Incoming: SPOILER ALERT
Personally it was frustrating seeing how Professor Membrane couldn't come to terms of reality despite all the evidence in front of him.. *gets hit* "Wow this feels so real!" "This is all an illusion son" lookin ass.. smh but I get the continuity thing in case there ever was a revival
Yeah...that bugged me too. But at least he reacted and took action when nessecary i.e. protect his children when they were in danger.
No doubt about it, dude turned into super dad mode XD Much respect on that end at least
It's part of his character. He's never going to see the paranormal because he's stubbornly convinced that it's not real. It's a commentary on certain people denying things despite overwhelming evidence.
Ikr? It was frustrating.
I liked the part how Zim defeated Dib, and the part that I hated the most is that they have to get THE TALLEST in that Florpus, and I got worried

Dude, that movie was amazing!
The movie was fantastic to me, even though I'm only 12 and haven't seen all the episodes.
Then you’re missing out kid even if u seen this movie which is kinda sad lol
You won't understand some of the jokes that callback to the original show. Also some minor plot points.

When I heard about this movie despite I never watched the show, I watched the show for the rest of last year and it was amazing! This movie was beautiful and amazing. My favorite character is the clone guy
Pieces Animates thanks I literally forgot after watching the movie a hundred times lol
the opening was by far one of the most amazing things that screamed to me "this is what you've been waiting for"
Totally awesome, the only complaints I have are the very specific seconds of cheap flash animation. Everything else is amazing, no problems with story or pacing. The visuals are ASTONISHING and CHAOTIC!!!
Err... yeah, i say it was Amazin'...
...I WANT MORE.
don't you mean amaZIM
The first 7 minutes had me rolling especially when he pointed at dib with his hands and one foot 😂😂😂
i’d rather want the series to come back only if it’s on an adult network so there’s no restrictions to the creators!!
It was pretty amazing and I’m so happy that it had a lot of the humor from the original show. Pretty seamless special IMO.
(The ship got excited about Moo-Ping10, a prison facility....that I assumed held Tak, but alas no Tak...I wished the ship an an ulterior motive..)
Zim seemed too excessively villainized in the second half, in the show I felt like Zim was starting to like Earth a little.
So Dib and Zim have a team-up, ect... they destroy the Irken Armada, Zim hands over leadership to Skooge, and decides to stay on Earth, since he still has yet to properly finish his first conquering mission (secretly he just likes Earth and his rivalry with Dib)
Something like that, with a set conclusion would have been a lot better personally.
Story just felt really stale.
Side from that, movie was incredible. Don't even get me started on Membrane's arms and battle scenes....
(and Minimoose lmao)
My favorite line:
Why don’t you go in your spaceship and save him .oh wait you don’t have a spaceship !!!!
I wanna see this movie so badly, Help me i can't sign into Netflix omg i'm dying HELP ME
Edit: Yes, Yesterday i had watched the movie, It was amazing, I could never find any other great movie like this, :D
The tallest were very unnecessarily dumbed down and this made it weird and to different from what their original personalities were like
4:20 Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network plotting what kind of bullshit they'll pull off next
I think it was perfect. I think my only complaint about it is that the Tallest aren’t really funny and for some reason are idiots where in the show, they were more like how a teenager sees his annoying brother. They hated Zim, but they were never full retard. They went full retard in this movie
