Knitting is enjoyable to me too. And i wear what i knit. For a person who learnt from youtube only 10 years, your knitting is really neat and tidy. And you have done complicated designs as a beginner! Once you can knit and purl, a beginner doesn't need to stick to a basic pattern if he / she has the confidence to learn as they knit.

Discovered Jonathan's Days podcast today just by chance and so glad I did!! So much content in each episode and so, so much helpful info on yarns I've wanted to try and patterns. Jonathan gives so much info on each item he knits that I consider them excellent pattern notes!

My goal this past year and moving forward is to enjoy the knitting process, but more than that is to actually enjoy wearing what I knit. I've been a knitter for many years and in the past have knitted a project just to keep my hands busy, but then later realize I have a box of hats that I never use for a variety of reasons. I have a sweater in my queue that is all over fisherman's rib. I know it is going to take me a while, but I am looking forward to enjoying the process of making a sweater that I am excited to own. My other goal is to work on gift knits throughout the year.

I am a crocheter and I absolutely admire your knit work. The joy of your art comes through in your video. I am convinced that yarnwork is an art form all to itself. The word "craft" does not do it justice. I enjoyed your FOs so much, I smiled all the way to end. I shall subscribe, and who knows, I may even try my hand at knitting. (she says with trepidation 😕)
Carry on, stay well and have fun!

Jonathan you just so inspire me! Since being off at the beginning of this year I have completed one of my goals already! I went through my stash and donated 5 totes of yarn and Frogged 18 projects! 2021 for me was a year of cast on everything! At this time I am down to 7 projects on needles! Funny story as three of my projects are the same pattern! I have 3 Half and Half Triangle wraps on the needles right now in 3 different Yarns! Love, love, love this pattern! Absolutely a grab and go project that you never need to worry about where you are in the pattern. With the exception of two projects, a Cowl and a scarf all my projects are Shawls. This year I would like to get into socks and sweaters! I can’t wait to hear all about your trip and what you discovered! Also, going to look at working with more all natural more rustic Yarns. Just so happy to see you back! You were definitely missed!

For your summer top, look into a linen/silk blend. Firstly because it’s luxurious and you deserve it 💫 secondly because it wears so well and is so breathable ☀️I’d love to hear your thoughts on knitting for warm weather. The French market bag looks fantastic and I’m adding it to my summer queue!

I not only enjoyed seeing all of your spectacular projects, but also the quick refresher on which yarns you liked for different projects. So many beautiful things! I have another Garthenor No. 3 cardigan on my needles, along with some color work wristers in millrochy tweed (a design I made up). I am fascinated with color work and plan to make a couple color work pullovers. I also want to make either a cabled sweater or a gansey style sweater - something really texture-y. Thank you for this, and wishing you a great 2022!

It is great to see all your knits together. Everything is beautiful. “Last year, after being an on and off knitter for 50+ years who only did mindless easy knits I decided to challenge myself and learned socks and knit a sweater for myself for the first time. I am continuing the learning into 2022. I am knitting a cable wrap and just finished the swatch for a colorwork sweater while watching this podcast. Lace is next.

Happy new year Johnathan, it was lovely watching your video seeing all your knits, and they all looked amazing.
Being from Ireland there's definitely one thing you need to knit and that's a traditional aran sweater, it's definitely on my to do list this year for myself, I have knit so many over the years as orders its about time I knit one for myself.
It doesn't matter how long we have been knitting, there's always something new to learn, I've been knitting 60+year and last year was the first I tried circular needles and I absolutely love them, doesn't matter what I'm knitting even if it's knit on the flat it's my circular needles I use, I knit pipe band aran socks year's ago but I have never knit ordinary socks before, so that was my new year day cast on, and I'm loving them, can't wait to get time to get them finished and I'm sure there's going to be something new for me to try this year, maybe I will have a go at brioche or a large shawl.
Take care and stay safe from a cold wet miserable Scotland

Thank you so much for sharing your year's knits. It's lovely to see all your wonderful projects. I had a very productive sock (although I'm more of a process knitter - they're just so quick to make) and shawl year, and finished a couple of languishing WIPs, as well. My bête noir is blocking shawls, so one of my goals this year is to block the things. Another is to finish a sweater that's been on the needles for quite a while. Like you, I always have socks and a shawl going.

Hi Jonathan, great to see all your projects in one go, I have watched all your episodes on the advice of Laura at Penrose knits and I love your colour choices and your fantastic sock collection. I especially love how kind you are to yourself about the little 'blips' in your knitting, it helps me to be more forgiving of my own. I am just finishing a Love note sweater off and I have learnt such a lot from listening to generous people like yourself who give of their time to share their skills and knowledge. Thank you and I look forward to your next vlog post.

My goal for the year is to ENJOY my crafting. I have a large family who I love to knit and crochet for but sometimes I get overwhelmed by the amount I have to do. Of everything you knit, the Maxim jumper in midnight blue was my favorite. The fabric moves like water~it flows. You chose an excellent yarn for the pattern & the fit is excellent. It looks very beautiful & so very high quality. This was a great wrap-up. No suggestions from me, but am looking forward to seeing what you choose. Podcasts are the closest thing to a knitting community at the moment & because of the internet allows for greater inclusion than my small town could ever manage. And it is safer than travel for me.

I’m so happy to see you back! I’m just finishing up a shawl that I started on December 14th…the Half & Half Triangle Wrap. I love it so much, that I’m going to start another one just to have on needles to work on anytime I want to between other projects. I loved it when you modeled your sweaters. It really set them off so much better than just holding them up. Isn’t amazing to see how much you accomplished in one year? I’m going to keep track of my knits this year just so I can be amazed at how much can be accomplished without thinking about it too much. Thank you for another entertaining and informative podcast, Jonathan. It was thoroughly enjoyable! See you next time. Hugs 🤗❤️🙋

I love your single malt sweater. I think I may try to knit that this year. But, a new thing I’m going to try is to steek a two colorwork cardigan. I’ve never steeked before, but this year I think will be the year for me to try something new. Great job with all your knits.

You DO look really great in that Anker sweater 😄 I knitted the Anker shirt last summer and it's an amazing garment, very functional but with some intrest and texture

Oh fabulous you are back Jonathan. Hope you had a lovely Christmas, birthday and jolly holly. Brilliant seeing all your finished knitting. Love the lot. The jumpers are really superb. Well done to you. I have lovely wool to use this year and am looking forward to finishing a few knits before I start on a special jumper I want to do. But really like your navy one. I am using the same stitches for a tank top I am knitting for my daughter. Just keep doing what you are doing is what I say as you are getting better and better each video. 🧶🧶

Hi! I love the Garthenor wool, I'll try to find it, it looks so cosy! My knitting plans for this year are making more socks and jumpers. Thanks for the video and for inspiring us!

Great idea putting cashmerino on the inside of the Musselburgh hat! That is my next cast on! You have inspired me to attempt some geometric patterns. Thank you!

Congratulations on a very successful 2021!!! Even though you have pointed out some ‘learned’ opportunities and projects you will/may frog, it seems like your knitting has progressed leaps and bounds!!! This coming year I want to make a sweater for my 24 yr old son, you have inspired me and now it’s time to make a decision: so basic pullover or single malt???? Thanks for sharing, I love your approach and way of reviewing 2021! Looking forward to your next episode to see what sweater you have on your needles!

Wow, your year,y makes are impressive. I’m a slow knitter and I commit 7-10 hours a week to it (usually an hour a day, and a little more on the weekends) so my projects take forever, which can be so discouraging. So my goal for this year is to get comfortable with Aran and worsted weight. I went from beginner “I can’t see if I’m doing it correctly” super bulky yarn to intermediate “I am over confident and love intricate color work” fingering and lace weight yarn. I need to find a compromise cuz I hate taking months to complete a project. Fingering for hats, socks, and gloves and worsted and Aran for bigger projects. I successfully made my first pair of socks in 2021 following your advice and summer Lee’s basic socks! I look forward to seeing what you’re up to in 2022!

Jonathan, I love all your 2021 knitting❤️ I enjoy your episodes and I look forward to seeing your 2022 knitted projects. Personally, I plan to make the Ambershore by Inese Sang. I haven’t done charted colour work so this will be a challenge… fingers crossed that it will be a success!

Wrap ups are some of my fave videos, thank you for sharing yours!! My 2022 challenge is colourwork socks, Summer Lee Designs just released a GORGEOUS pattern called Lykke Socks that are going to be perfect for the miniskein set that I impulse bought last week...
