G'day Rusty. I had an offset 8mm hole in the end of the steel Rod, which made it awkward to Initially cut the centre 12mm hole for the magnet. Once i was able to use the boring tool, it went ok. The steel is 4140, that's all I had.

I Don't know what steel you're using, but it sure doesn't like to be cut :)
