Alex, I’m absolutely loving this interview. I love how you presented the interview with alternating shots of you at your table and Frederick on your laptop screen. I would love to see the whole interview.
This reminds me that although most of the fighting on the western front in WWI required going ‘over the top’, there was also a lot that was below even the level of the trenches because of all the tunnelling that was done, which sometimes entailed very close quarters fighting. This would make for a very interesting - though probably even more challenging - project in creating a board, potentially allowing two levels of fighting occurring simultaneously. (Your bunker might even have a basement level, increasing its market value).. While I’m sure this is well within your abilities, I don’t think it would fit the Doggerland setting due to the ground being freshly reclaimed from the sea. However this didn’t prevent the extensive tunnelling that took place historically not all that far inland, so maybe it could be feasible. Please ask the author when you next speak. With regard to the UV putty you were using, which I noticed in your earlier video about building the board, is this generally available? I don’t 3D print but as you showed, this could have a lot of uses.
I actually love the look of unpainted kit bashed models (and thus also unpainted gaming tables). You can really tell what materials where used. I think modellers can see what you did better in that way. Of course if you wanna eventually play on the table, it makes sense to paint the whole thing.
Thanks for going down this path Alex. I know building boards is a ton of work and probably a challenge to film in a dynamic way. You've managed to get both done, so well done.
What a nice interview - it would be great to see the long form version. It's always nice to get an impression on what the rules designer's core aims were and what inspired them/what they had in their head while creating the lore (this can sometimes get buried in overly chunky rulebooks) as the old saying goes "a doggerland man's home is his bunker (/possible ritual sacrifice site)"
Love how you table is comming along and the time you take with the small details to make it look so much better. I don't have what I need to build my own bunkers, but I do have some of the Games Workshop bunkers, so I was more than a little inspired to see what I could do with them from watching your video.
Very much enjoying your wargaming board series. I dont play wargames, but feel like I would enjoy making a board, and this is a way to live vicariously through someone else's process.
U made my day. My car was evacuated and I paid 550 euro per fine and this video motivates me to warm up and come to pain a little in the evening avoiding dive into daily trouble❤
It turned out pretty handy. I didn't quite like it when trying it out on small models, mainly because of the resin aspect. Gloves, respirator, vacuum cleaner (I don't want the mini to end up in there...). Using sprue goo, or milliput felt easier. But for this terrain stuff it's pretty awesome.
Would love to hear the full conversation as that was really interesting!! I have to say i was intrigued when you started after this I’m now hooked and will be seeking the book!!
I would have loved to have more visual support to see what Freddy was talking about, you could have shown some illustration from the book. I love how you made the bunker destroyed to make it beautiful and stile useful, that's great !
I love the ideas of that game so much so that I bought the book without hope of ever playin it. But the book exists in my shelf, and one day I might take the time to force a friend to play it with me.
Just a friendly opinion from a carpenter:concrete buildings are full of metal bars ,every foot(moreless) in all directions. For example a floor two feet thick by ten feet length has 22 sticks coming out, plus pipes for water,gas,électric-wires… So when you decide to destroy…Don’t be afraid…👋
I was actually just listening rather than watching, building tau stealth battlesuits ATM , interesting video will keep my eyes and ears open for the game
I wanna build a bunker please! Great vid on enjoying making something that looks great but forgetting what the table/project absolutely needs instead, then redirecting, adapting, creating something else that looks great and works for the table and years of fun playing on it
Thank you Phil. I hope this larger bunker will fill a bit more of the intended funktion. If not, it was at least fun to build and lead me to talking to Freddy. So everything has its place :)
Absolutely brilliant video and the interview was awesome , great to hear a game creators thought on the game they made and their thouvht process. Would love to see you abd goobertown do a video.
That bit about Russian conscripts has me thinking about the Bolshevik Revolution. I don't know if the book covers Russia. But it makes me think about how Russia had to exit WWI to deal with the death of the Tzar and the Bolsheviks trying to overthrow the government. I imagine, when the planet itself is thrown into upheaval and magic returns, the Reds and the Whites would naturally need to pause their civil war to deal with that. "Boris, it is terrible! We cannot keep fighting the loyalists right now, because Baba Yaga is stealing our souls!" Obviously, the ceasefire won't last forever. It might change, though. A three front war for control of Russia. The Red, the White, and the _Black._ With the Black being the forces of flesh-hungry Baba Yaga, the _things_ from the earth she whipped into formation, and the humans pledged to her due to fear and despair and veneration for the old ways.
Noooooo! I'm still working on my The Last War minis and scenary, while trying to avoid ordering A War Transformed... I realy dont need you to recommend it!
A good way to protect large amounts of foam is to cover it with the mix that Jeremy uses @BlackMagicCraftOfficial , it's cheap and surprisingly sturdy. The only downside is the drying time.
@@52Miniatures Yes, that one! I sometimes add water or airbrush thinner when covering a porous material to make it penetrate it better. When thinned you can cover large areas pretty quickly with it but for some materials it might require a second or third coat for best seal. I once used it to make papier mache and it was as hard as plastic after drying.
I love that interview and seeing into the thoughts of the creator! Please do share the full interview. I would also really enjoy any other interviews you end up doing in the future (Joseph A. McCullough would be at the top of my list for both Rangers of Shadowdeep and Frostgrave).
Alex, love your videos, but not so much gamesworkshop arrogance and models that still look like they were designed in the 80's. Thanks for doing something different, so I could enjoy it all.
My pleasure D. My view count and channel growth is affected by it but I can't realistically can only find the energy to keep this channel going by doing videos on what I enjoy :)
I have lost so much interest in pro football, which is sad because I've wanted to keep up my interest of everybody's favorite mercenary player game. But with the Lions out, there's nothing more to watch for me. Not knocking it for others. I get there are true football fans who will find any game has entertainment, and to you, enjoy.
As of late I’ve drawn toward different more unknown games, so this was a great look into a world of a wargame with much potential. We often forget how many great games are out there, because of the big swingers in the field. Great to show off the lesserkown games.
I'll def start editing the long interview. We'll see about filming a game.. I think for me it might be too much work as I'm so into getting the production level high.
Alex, I’m absolutely loving this interview. I love how you presented the interview with alternating shots of you at your table and Frederick on your laptop screen. I would love to see the whole interview.
Thank you Mark, I'm editing the longer interview now and it should be up in a day or two.
“It’s an over the top world” - see what he did there?
Hah!

Indeed. Seeing all the bits of green stuff here and there and all that. Very intriguing.
For some reason my favourite bit was seeing the wire for the concrete armature go in. Lovely detail throughout.
Thanks for going down this path Alex. I know building boards is a ton of work and probably a challenge to film in a dynamic way. You've managed to get both done, so well done.
Thank you very much Gary
I could listen to Fredrick's history and alternate history lessons for hours. Glad you had him on
Hey Daniel, there’s a longer version of the interview as well

Great Adrian. I think your thoughts on the title where great. I'm editing the longer interview as we speak.
Wonderful as always. I would 100% love the full 2hr interview be released.
An edited 1.15 hour interview will be up later today :)
"I appreciate the world that you created. It is very inviting.....and horrible. Disturbing but inviting." Genius description 😂😂
Hah! It's a pretty good description of the book :)
I love your videos so much, Alex. Thank you for this extended and detailed video series about table terrain building for multiple game systems!
Thank you Magnus, I appreciate it!
Very much enjoying your wargaming board series. I dont play wargames, but feel like I would enjoy making a board, and this is a way to live vicariously through someone else's process.
great to hear :) Maybe a smaller diorama would be a place to start if you get serious about it.
Someday for sure, gotta find the time around a toddler first!
I’m loving this board build and the narration in your videos
Great to hear S, thank you.
I really enjoyed this video. Nothing more eloquent to say. Mostly commenting to help with the algorithm! Three cheers for Alex!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Sorry to hear about the fine, glad the video could give a little comfort.
It´s bunkers all the way down
Hah!
Good examples of even larger, multistorey bunkers are the Peilstand observation bunkers built on Guernsey by the Germans, during WW2.
That UV paste looks amazing.

A great reason to get the book :) Thanks D, I do appreciate it.
Looks great. The author is very active on the Facebook page and the game has a good online community. Just trying to get people in my area to play.
I love the ideas of that game so much so that I bought the book without hope of ever playin it. But the book exists in my shelf, and one day I might take the time to force a friend to play it with me.
It's a great book to have in the shelf Daniel. Even just for looking at.
Nice!!! Sad I missed the live streams but excited for a new video!!!
Next time Erik!
This UV paste seems like a very good addition to my toolbox!
It was surprisingly handy!
The build is going great, would love to listen to the whole discussion - great for listening while making!
Thanks B, working on editing the longer interview :)

Great interview, i for one would love to see more of it.
Thanks Nat, I'll start editing the long version :)
Awesome. It's a growing area of TH-cam content and one i have personally been enjoying a great deal.
I love these long form videos. So well done and put together!
Thanks S! I hope you're doing well.
Very inspiring. Can't wait to see it complete with paint! I am also very interested in the game now and will check it out.
Great to hear V, thank you.

This was great! Love your videos on the more indie side of wargaming and the creative projects that come with that!
Glad you like them!
Happy New Year Alex. Thanks for the new video. The gaming board is coming along splendidly. 👍
Happy New Year to you to!

Thank you Stretch! I'm kind of longing for the finished board as well
Really a nice job, appreciate your hard work
Thanks a lot!
Another excellent continuation of this series
Today I learned I should probably be using a mask and gloves when working with UV resin. Thank you, Alex.
Yes definitely! And try and not contaminate your workspace with uncured resin or resin dust.
Your interview format was interesting, but awesome! Would love to see the long form version 😊
I'll start editing the long version :) Thanks!
It would be great to see the whole interview. Very cool video all around.
