I have a 24 grand highlander with factory toyota dash cam It will no work if I have carplay on. How can I fix this camera so I can use both the camera and carplay at the same time.

20 years ago I would not have wanted one. 40 years old and have a family, yes I think I want one. Nothing wrong with protecting yourself now day if you are not actively involved in crime haha

Thanks for the video. Does the dashcam require a subscription after a year? Toyota now has all type of annoying subscription services such as safety connect, service connect, remote connect, wifi connect...... if it requires a subscription, I don't think this is worth it.

No, it is a separate system.
Id expect more for 375 dollars. Id buy a nice aftermarket one for that price and have someone install it neatly over that.

Yes it is OEM. Can get it at a Toyota dealer
@@MikesCarInfo I asked my Toyota dealer and they said it is factory installed. So if your car doesn't have it you're out of luck and have buy one separately...!
My 24 tundra 1794,cant have their factory dash cam because it didn't come with correct harness in the roof area. Its hard to believe they use different roof harness for all the vehicle's they make. Dealer said when checking VIN # it says factory install wont work . Even if its a upgrade some toyotas wont accept thier product they advertise.
A good aftermarket camera is better anyway.

I don't know. I am fairly sure I used a 64gb card in it and it worked. It might even take a 128 but I can't find that information anywhere.

We want to see videos of rear and both side views, not only front view. Tesla has all 360 degree video views. They caught vandalism, accident scene, and other incidents. Awesome! 👍😃👍

@@dicemaster1996 sour grapes much? I own a Toyota all my life and I don't meltdown every time Tesla owners points out flaws on a Toyota. Toyota will keep giving you garbage if you don't complain. Toyota doesn't have integrated dash cams even on their highest trim. I don't understand why car manufacturers can't build dash cams and rear cams into their vehicle. Is that technology so difficult? Zero innovation and risk taking. At least Tesla is brave enough to put damn cameras on their cars.
@jono601 Tesla should concentrate on having top notch quality control and service instead of focusing on gimmicky features. They can't hold a candle to Toyota's quality control, fit and finish, and service maintenance.
Tesla doesn't even support wireless Carplay and Android Auto. Is that so difficult? And no HUD. What's up with that? Teslas desperately need a HUD so drivers don't have to keep taking their eyes off the road to read a simple thing like mph. Ridiculous.
@@mrxman581 I agree with you that 99% of Tesla futuristic minimalistic design is a gimmick and designed by morons. In order to achieve that bullsh%t modern design, they remove the MPH hud and force you to press buttons for turn signals.
But I do want the option to have INTEGRATED dash cameras from Toyota. Dash cameras are not really a gimmick. The ones currently offered by Toyota are like aftermarket cams you can buy from amazon. Dash cameras are way more useful than all the other garbage Toyota offers as add ons.
If someone hits you from behind its gonna be their fault, no need to have footage. If they try to run away this will capture them.
The salesman told me this can be installed at the dealer, and that the system integrated the backup and front bumper cams …but it seems like that’s not true

Cool..but no thanks. I'd much rather buy a dual front/rear camera (currently use the viofo a129 pro duo) for less than half the price of this single unit. Plus..I can switch it to different vehicles if needed (sold vehicle, etc.)

At what distance do you think a license plate could be read with this?
The vehicle would have to be directly in front of the camera within 10-15ft for it to pick up the plate number.

How do you reset if you forgot the password?
The recorded video looks really bad - everything is too blurry (probably because of low bitrate), color accuracy is wrong (everything looks desaturated) and there are some heavy reflections from left side of dashboard. I don't get why Toyota can't bother to find a better OEM for these cams, someone who can at least match the quality of $80 Viofo cams.

Videos are saved automatically but will be overwritten once the SD card is full. Action button is to save and lock the file from being overwritten.
Can you remove 'speed' from recording's date stamp info or edit what is recorded?
I don't think so.

Nope i live in Germany all Toyota dashcams are Bad. WE live in 2023 not 2005. An external Dashcam 4K / 60 FPS Support is better as internal. In FHD Range Up top 25 you dont See the Number at the car😂.
