    15:05 Breathtaking. That music during biodiversity portion. Wow. And the footage. Brought tears to my eyes. You are an artist. This cinematography is art.

    I will take a flight tomorrow from bali to Labuan Bajo, I am on a budget and prefer to spend more money to do more dives than spend more for transportation flights etc so I opted for Komodo but I will always have Raja Ampat in the back of my mind knowing I won't be disappointed

    I've been to Komodo before going to Raja Ampat. Raja Ampat is better! A pain to get there, though. On the way, stopping in Manado for Lembeh strait muck diving is a good idea.
    The diving in Komodo was so fantastic that I didn't bother to miss a dive to visit the dragons. I must be the only tourist to ever be there for weeks and not see the dragon.
    But in RA it's even better. You forgot something: the night snorkeling in RA is superb. And you don't need guides. RA has fantastic snorkeling. The best in the world, in my humble opinion. I've visited over 100 countries and never seen snorkeling that can compare to it.

      You're not wrong, Raja Ampat is the most diverse underwater ecosystem on earth. It's scuba divers heaven. But it cost a lot of money 😅

      used to think nothing can top RA till I went scuba diving Verde Island Passage Philippines, it's insanely unbelievable that marine paradise is unknown, tops RA in my opinion.

      I feel sorry for you not seeing a dragon, I saw 4. But I have never seen a manta ray in Komodo. Scuba diving is usually better than snorkeling. You may prefer snorkeling to diving. Some dive points in Komodo are very suitable for snorkeling, and there are no ton of tourists. You can end up to 10Ba tanks in the less than 5 meter stop area.

    Thank you for this nice and interesting video. I don't dive, I don't know komodo, but I've been to Raja Ampat several times because I'm a snorkeling fanatic. Access is simple, signposted (sorong airport/ferry/homestay or resort boat). There is the choice between homestays, with basic comfort (but cabins at the edge of the water, the real luxury for me) which are very affordable with some very beautiful housereef, or more comfortable resorts but much more expensive, and there are a few places in between. I hope that Raja ampat will remain in the hands of the inhabitants and will not be disfigured by luxurious hotels which will not bring much to the inhabitants. In Komodo you have to take a boat to enjoy the treasures of the sea. At the raja, you just have to get in the water in front of your hut and as indicated in the video, if that's not enough, diving or snorkeling spots are generally close.

      Thank you for sharing your experience with us! For snorkeling I would indeed recomend Raja Ampat rather than Komodo, as the life is so abondant just few meters away from your bungalow! And thank you for watching!

    You've made an excellent video - even better than your previous Halmahera vs. Raja Ampat video. And that one was great! I'll be diving in Komodo next month for two full weeks and then planning to return in January '23 for Raja Ampat (or Halmahera, I haven't made my mind up yet). I'm now even more impatient to return to beautiful Indonesia. Thank you kindly for the inspiration!

      Hi Guile! Thank you so much for watching our video! From now on to November is generally a good time to explore Komodo. You could even even hop on a liveaboard from Bali to Komodo and then stay in Komodo (liveaboard or land based). From November you can check Raja Ampat. If you are in Bali don't mis the mola mola season in Nusa Penida! Anyway I am sure you will have a blast! Enjoy Indonesia! ☺

    Thank you for making this fantastic video. Your content has inspired me to consider a live aboard trip soon. However, I'm currently deciding whether to choose a single location or do both. I'm interested in the biodiversity aspect. Do you think the biodiversity between the two options is similar, or different enough that it would be worth experiencing both?

    • @Shabon67
      @Shabon67 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've only been to Komodo, but all the shots seemed recognisable to me. I did a fair few dives there (22 in total, 19 on a 5-day liveaboard plus 3 more on a day trip) but saw pretty much everything listed as "Komodo" plus more. Do enough dives in either and I'm sure you'll experience it all. The overall biodiversity combined with the amount of big fish like sharks and mantas and large schools of fish is just insane. 😍

    Great, thank you! But how can beginners see Raja Ampat? Would snorkeling be sufficient, or will we miss it all if we don't go deeper?

    • @ragelpoe8777
      @ragelpoe8777 ปีที่แล้ว

      as mentioned on the video, RA have wider range of difficulty level.
      almost every area is a good spot for diving, even the shallow one.
      I can't dive, so I just snorkeling when I went there, and that was amazing.
      trust me, even the biodiversity lies under your homestay is good enough to please your eyes.
      but if you wanna sea manta ray or any other open water species, there's no other option but to go deeper.

      If you really truly only care about seeing mantas and nothing else, go to Nusa Penida off the coast of Bali and dive at Manta Point. The cheapest and most accessible option of the three, by far, and a nearly 100% guarantee to see them in just one dive. (Certainly if you don't it's cheap enough to do one more and you will.)

    Labuan Bajo is sh*thole.. quality of service is low in most places, compared to Bali and Gilis.
    Only affordable place to stay I can recommend is Seaesta Hotel / Hostel.
    Diving is good with swiss-owned Uber scuba, they offer liveaboards as well, so do Belgian-owned Manta Rhei (nice dive boat) or Blue Marlin (speedboat option).
