  • Ford 2000 Tractor Hydraulic Lift & Rear Axle Servicing. In this video I am servicing the rear axle and lift hydraulic system. Them reservoir took all two gallons of hydraulic fluid before it was at the full level. First time doing this so don't take this information as instruction. Leave a comment if I did not service the system properly. Thx for watching.

    I've had the same tractor your working on for most of my life. I'm 44. I use the 5 gallon bucket of hydro fluid from sams club. It usually eats 1 every 2 years or so. Unfortunately the motor is locked up now after sitting for about 8 years. Only thing that's ever stopped that ol tractor. But I'm soaking the engine in some mmo so I'm sure it's gonna unlock. Thanks for the videos. They've helped alot.

    You're a good guy to take the time to make vids about this tractor. I bought an old 2000 for my uncle to use in his oversized garden. It's in pretty rough shape and keeping it going has been challenging. Your info is a huge help and much appreciated!

      The manual I have for my super Major says 30 weigh in the engine, transmission, and rear end which is also used for the hydraulic. I tried TSC hydraulic fluid and it messed up the rear end. It is not thick enough.

    The hydraulic fluid fill cap is left side top, under the seat. That rear plug is didderential only, use 90 weight gear oil.

    My 1984 Ford tractor needed a new clutch. The two men who fixed it put the hydraulic hoses on wrong and can't figure out how to fix it. I have the service manuals but they do not show it well. Who can I get advice from?

      make sure your draft control/position control lever is in the full upright position. it sounds like you have the tractor in draft control and operates completely differently than in position control. let me know if that helps.

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Under the seat inside is the control for how it all works. It could need adjusted or cleaned up. If moisture gets in there could also be rusted and stuck.

    Hi where does the hydraulic fluid go for the front loader or is it all the same ?

    • @mikeburke8656

      The FEL hydraulic is the same. You should have a manifold on the right side under the seat.

    hi guys ,i,m having trouble with the hydraulics on my fordson power major,i,ve installed a front end snow plow .i,ve run the live hydrailics from under the seat and i have to pull up on the 3pt hitch control and the front end control or nothing works any ideas ,any help would be appreciatedthks joe

    • @TAHDAHFarm
      @TAHDAHFarm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a super Major, don't put the 3pt up all the way. Leave it down about 2 or 3 inches and then pull the knob out to redirect to the hydraulic remote. My valve leaks passed some so I have to do this several times if I'm using the remote a lot.

    Not that much research is necessary. A good universal agricultural tractor oil is suitable for engine, transmission and hydraulics alike. This even applies to 4000 and 5000 models that have wet brakes.
    Mobil Agri Super 15W40 and many others will probably meet and exceed the performance of the very specific primitive lubricants that were prescribed during the early middle ages when they originally made these bulletproof machines.

      Thanks for your work video documenting vintage Ford tractors. I have to rectify my earlier statement a bit: while universal oil is generally good, modern purpose-specific lubricants are even better, at least if one has freezing temperatures in their location. In moderate climate it might be a waste of money.
      Harsh winter would make 15W40 outright useless, of course. I can't use that if I'm going to operate the Ford during winter months. These machines are actually pretty good cold starters if well maintained and properly adjusted. Not just oil viscosity, winter fuel and a good battery matter - electrical connections, thermostart and condition of fuel system are important too.

      Hi Tonss, I have a Ford 4000 with wet brakes and wondering if the 15W40 is also suitable for engine, transmission and Hydraulics? Hard to find any info on these old girls and want to give it a full service. Have noticed the brakes are starting to shudder and make a bit of noise as of late, not sure what the issue is.
