  • This video covers the removal and installation of the hydraulic lift cover on a Ford 3000 tractor. This particular tractor is a 1973. I did skip over the seat removal and installation. As well as lift arm connections, and the cleaning of surfaces.

Had same problem with ford 2000, fixed it today. There are few Ford tractors in Poland and even less information about them. I really like them, I also have a Ford 3000 :) Thank you for the movie and the opportunity to see what it looks like inside before the repair .
    Greetings from Poland

You Sir are a manly man! I used an overhead chain hoist to lift mine and awkward is an understatement. Thanks for posting this. :)

I pulled the top off my tractor yesterday. At the return line on the top some fell off into the bottom. It looked like a o ring or a washer it happened so fast I couldn’t tell what it was. In the video I seen you put it back on after you pulled the line out. What was it and do I need to. Taking it apart further to find it or do I just need to replace it and leave it in.

I have loosened my flow control valve to a point where it will not tighten back up. Im guessing I will have to take this apart like you did.

I have a 70s ford 3600 and the lift stopped working. I opened a bolt on top and it doesn't have hardly any pressure. Only a bit of oil came out . It seemed airated but the oil on the dipstick is clean . Does that sound like I need a new pump? Or should I look elsewhere?

I'm assuming your referring to the orings in the lift assemblies. You are right. I didn't expect this video to be as popular as it has turned out to be or I likely would have.

Ray, I had/have the same problem with my 3000. I eventually used clamps to hold the 1/2 inch tube in to the socket. I made the clamps from light metal. The original tube used e steel washer similar to a Belleville washer that was interference on the tube. The nut would push on the washer ant the washer would grip the tube hand hold it in. The rubber sea was the same as you get with the new kit. The copper washer will not grip the tube and hold it in place. I hope to find a thin steel washer to return my tractor to original and remove the clamps. But they do work.

Ray our old 3000 started doing the same thing. This was many years ago. I tried replacing the nut that has the packing in it. Only to have it blow out again after a few hundred hours. Next, I replaced the hydraulic line that goes from the pump down to the side of the transmission.. It quickly blew out agin. Next I made a U bolt type clamp to hold the line in. That worked to keep the line from blowing completely out of the pump. Pumping all the oil out of the transmission before you could shut it down. BUT, after a while it started just leaking. Quickly got to bad to tolerate. The next thing was to use some 1/2 scrap hydraulic lines and fittings off a cotton picker. These lines had the flair type connections. I believed at this point. The rubber packing in the Ford nut was fauilty. Using Ford's nut. That by now I had several of. I removed the packing. Cut a JIC type fitting from the cotton picker in half. Very carefully welded it to the nut. Cut the steel hydraulic line. Welded part of the tube that had the flair to the Ford line. About 3". Part of the line had to be heated and reshape. It was tedious work. But this fix lasted many year. 2-3 more thousand hours until we sold the tractor. The inability of Ford to provide a proper "fix" for this and other problems. We had with our Ford's. Was a major deciding factor in us moving to John Deere tractors. We also had a neighbor with a 3000. He had the exact same problem with his tractor.
