    Here I review Noodler's Black "Bulletproof". It is a Black ink. I compare it to 365 other inks tested on its viscosity and dry time, results are shown on a bell curve.
    Writing sample is at 3:36
    I think Krishna Sindhoor would be a great complement to the color on the page. I also give my thoughts on Noodler's Black "Bulletproof", all of the opinions are my own.
    I used a Nemosine Singularity with a f nib to take my notes for this video.

    I have to say this was the ONLY ink that worked well on my Vanishing Point EF for a time because it was SO fine that any other ink was producing a line weak enough that it was hard to read. Now the nib has broken in a little and is wetter and works with other inks. So, I would say this is a wet ink, and correlating to the viscosity variable, the theory is consistent.
    I have a bottle of this and I was able to remove some of it from the page using a regular eraser for pencils. Not completely, but I could turn a solid black line into a light grey one on Clairefontaine after leaving it for a couple of days to dry. I don't know if that's a thing, or my bottle is a bad one. Here in Europe is hard to find this brand, so that bottle might be old or had been stored in bad conditions.
    And yeah... Moleskine paper... Write on it with a fountain pen and you will probably be able to see the ink bleeding from the basement under the desk. And this ink is USABLE there... that's incredible.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know when I erase the line work under the black ink it is common for the lines to become more of a grey than a black. There is nothing wrong with your ink.

  • @TroubledCarOwner
    @TroubledCarOwner 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Absolutely the best black ink there is. It's one of the easiest inks to work with and being incredibly waterproof is a bonus. Doesn't even bleed through 60 gsm cheap paper. Works well in a Pilot Explorer (M) and Lamy Lx (F). With the Lamy Lx it actually writes finer than how I expected a Lamy Fine nib would write. I might switch it up to a Medium and get the Lx to be even smoother. I also have an Upper Ganges Blue which I had hoped would be the second-half of my Blue and Black waterproof everyday ink. But it bleeds through everything and writes quite broad strokes for a Fine nib. Which is kind of counter-intuitive after seeing your review for UGB, saying it's a supposedly a considerably less runny ink than the Black. I'm guessing it's the surface tension of the inks. Planning on buying an EF nib for the other Lx to see if I could make it work better.
    Update: Replaced the Lx nib to a Z52 medium and while it writes subtly smoother the more prominent difference is how more pronounced the black becomes. Used the old Z52 fine nib and replace it on a Lamy Safari inked with UGB. To my surprise the Z52 nib writes finer compared to the previous Z50 fine nib. The slower flow also means the UGB now bleeds through noticeably less.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It definitely is a good one that has truly earned its place among fountain pen users.
      As far as the UGB, please keep in mind that my reviews are nothing more than me sharing my experiences. So I would expect results to vary from person to person.
      I'm happy you found a good way to get the UGB under control.

    Adam,
    Thanks for the review.
    I may try this ink. I was going to try it before, but tried Noodlers Lexington Gray instead, also water resistant. It's great for sketching then painting over with watercolor.
    One cool accessory I've found for the Noodlers inks is the Ink Miser, which Goulet sells. They fit in the Noodlers bottles and they make refilling the pen easier, especially when there's not much ink left in the bottle.
    The de Atramentis Document inks in different colors are on my radar screen for use as water resistant drawing inks.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the De Atramentis Doc inks are better for paining over the noodle's Bulletproof black. The bulletproof black frequently has some ink still able to move around long after drying, it is water "Proof" for writing... NOT the same as for art. De Atramentis Doc Black is better there.

      I looked into a viscosimeter and wasn't willing to spend that kind of money, lol. I looked into how I compared viscosities back in school.
      This is "Basically" how I measure viscosity. This isn't exactly how I do it but it's the best I can do to explain ay the moment.
      I use viscosity races between water and the ink like here. th-cam.com/video/ubGxkWWWiIg/w-d-xo.html
      I record the race time of the ink and the race time of the water, then divide the ink time by the water time and that gives a viscosity factor.
      This is not a perfect representation of how I do it but the best way I can explain in the restraints of a comment. I will likely record a video showing my process some time in the future but I hope this helps.

      @@AnInkGuy Actually, a better measurement would be specific gravity. Water has a specific gravity of 1.0. Because the more viscosity you have the "heavier" the ink is, a high viscosity ink will have a larger SG. SG is calculated, where D is Density , M is mass in Grams, V is volume in mL, and SG is specific Gravity. D = m / v SG (ink) = D(ink) / D(H20) . Density of water is always functionally about 1G/mL.

On the opposite side when a drop of water completely erase what I wrote it's very disappointing.
