I looked this up as my husband plays both Warmachine and 40k and I wanted to understand the rules in case one day I end up watching him actually play. Very informative and easy to follow along :)
Love the video... I read the rules two times and this video helps a lot.. I'm new to warmachine and I love how much this company cares about its players. Thanks for the video
I'm really caught between this and WH40k. What it comes down to is player base, by me no one plays Warmachine. They sell it, and people do buy it, but no one plays it for some reason. It's like there's a group of people who play from home or something, cause no one at the shops says they play it nor do the shops host games. Lots of people play WH40k though... well not lots, but the handful of people who can AFFORD WH40k. I can't barely break into WH40k, I hate GW and their pricing is insane, but if I want to Wargame they really aren't that insane, all the alternatives like 'Flames of War' aren't cheaper even though their minis are even smaller than WH40k. Except for Warmachine and Legion, those 2 manage to drop the cost by about 20%. It looks super fun too. So Warmachine looks fun, has a cool visual style, good lore, is cheaper. It should be a win. However, no one plays it! So I'm stuck,
Thank you so much for this - I recently watched the mk2 to get a rough idea of the game, but this is obviously far more helpful. I'm sure these videos take a lot of time and effort, but the difference this will make to many people's first game is huge. One of the big draws (and also intimidating factors) in Warmachine is the tactical depth. It would be great to see an "intermediate" video that builds on this tutorial, where you do not just learn the rules but get a feel for the sorts of tactical decisions that players have to make - do I boost, why I moved here, what I was trying to do, etc. Again, I understand that these videos must take a lot of time but I really feel there are a lot of people who would appreciate an "official" look at this :)
Thanks for the video. Going to be referencing it quite a bit. BTW, it would be super helpful if you linked to the different parts in the description. :) I do like the way you've used the in video links, but the description is handy as well. :)
great video! perfect for beginners, when will we see a similar video for Hordes? friend picked up her Circle BB and I'd love to send her an instructional vid like this.
Basic then of it is killing the enemy leader results in victory...both armies start on opposite edges lined upon those. Players take turn of which there is control on the battle field, there is 5 stages in the control phase or something, movement has 5 stages. Also speed determines how much space a unit can use For instance if Speed on the card is 5, the motion is 5 inches on the real field in a spherical around those units. Range distance is also measured in inches on the ruler provided in any order one at a time. Cool, will try get the hang of it gets kind of full involved with 4 or more phases per turn.
Then as well, roll of the dice total is the attack damage, compare that number with the defense of the enemy target add the power and the total is subtracted by damage and the result is how much damage is then cause when in comparison attacker and defender.
The armor value is also subtracted from the total attacker points of dice and other bonuses then the total damage determines if the unit stays in game or not. Interesting too.
Guys, considering my shitty dexterity and eyesight, I sincerely hope you'll get the videogame version out one day. Hopefully with nice graphics too. ;) (unreal is free and well documented! There's also cry and lumberyard too.) pre-assembled stuff would be nice too.

I know they were wanting to show how the ability worked, but that did seem like the worst time to use the ability. All of the individuals would have auto-hit regardless. Why get bonuses to hit when you could have hit twice for free
As long as the charging model has engaged the target at the end of the charge movement the charge is successful. It is not required to successfully hit with its first attack. (WM Prime pg.45 for more details)

They are within the warcasters CMD range so gain 1 focus point.
Is this mk2 or mk3 rules?
At 32:30 they reference boosting unit rolls. Can someone point me to this in the rules?
It says warjack or warcaster. I did look in the prime mk3 book and I see nothing other than the initial charge attack damage boost.
