      A reference to a DAS phone message that was on Miscellaneous T. Then again he might have just misnamed them.

      Seeing as it's Conan, I would not be surprised if he had done it on purpose

    Get a load of Flansy's guitar work! It's kind of sad that he ceded most of the lead work to other guitarists after John Henry. And slide bass! Wow!

    Did John Linnell use an actual Hammond organ in the studio?

    • @hickorymccay2994
      @hickorymccay2994 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the time, since most fancy studios in which a professional rock band like TMBG would work have one. I think the first album on which he used one was Apollo 18, for all tracks that have organ except, if I remember correctly, Mammal (which was a MIDI organ sound) and Fingertips (which was pretty much all MIDI anyway, other than a couple of guitar and woodwind tracks).

    • @elirosen1391
      @elirosen1391 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hickorymccay2994 there also seems to be a lot of MIDI keys on the first two albums. But what about Flood? Skyline studio must have had some top-of-the-line keyboards.

    • @hickorymccay2994
      @hickorymccay2994 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elirosen1391 I'm not sure about Flood. Maybe Road Movie To Berlin has a real Hammond? Letterbox definitely sounds like a Minimoog bass, and it's been confirmed they used a Moog of some kind for the whipcrack effect on Minimum Wage. But the rest of that album has unusual enough synth sounds that I think they probably used MIDI a lot on it. If I remember correctly, the first two albums have a lot of Fairlight and Akai samplers, and Flood has a lot of Casio FZ-1 sounds.

    • @hickorymccay2994
      @hickorymccay2994 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although, now that I think about it, the keyboards on Birdhouse and Twisting could both very well be Vox or Farfisa organs.

    • @elirosen1391
      @elirosen1391 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hickorymccay2994 I hear Vox Continental vibes on songs like Birdhouse, Twisting and Sapphire Bullets. And besides Road Movie, I detect a real Hammond sound on We Want a Rock and Letterbox. Plus Flansburgh ran his guitar through a Leslie on Women and Men. So there must have been an actual Hammond involved in Flood.
