I wonder if Matthew Perry deserves any blame for his death. I wasn’t surprised when news of his demise came out. His memoir then his awful comment about Keanu and his untamed weight gain were all indicators that the end was near.
He was 100% victim. As a person suffering from addiction, he didn't have clear control over himself. He needed protection. He didn't get that from those in charge of his wealth. They are criminal and deserve to go to prison.
It really bothers me all these comments about personal responsibility. Personal responsibility still does not negate the crimes of others. Doctors have a fiduciary duty to patients. It’s tea not an either or argument. Yes people need to take responsibility for their own addiction and people breaking the law should be charged and prosecuted
At the end of the day, he did it to himself. If he was given a bad batch of something, it may be a different story. In the end, he alone responsible for what goes into his body.
Apparently obfuscating personal responsibility over drug addiction is the one topic the far left and conservatives can agree on. My fellow conservatives over on Fox News never seem to have a problem accepting infantilization by the government when it comes to passing the buck for personal responsibility when it's their own children strung out on drugs. The lethal consequences of drug abuse have been known for well over a hundred years 100 years. I'm sorry this person is dead but if you truly want to conquer drug addiction then it begins with taking personal responsibility for your own decisions...both good and bad. Actually this type of news coverage only greatly impunes a person's ability to recover. When they go into 12 step programs one of the first things they're going to be confronted with is stop passing the buck and to finally take personal responsibility for what they've done to themselves and to their family. Anything less than this will only result in catastrophic relapse. But of course the cash cow rehab racket will never tell you that. Every relapse is big money in the bank for them!

Good. It's not necessary to dabble in this drug for mental issues. It is too powerful, with many negative side effects.

They would be charged if it happened to anyone. Deaths have to be investigated especially when they are suspicious.
