Look, the thing about Nickelderp is that; for me personally; they are a hit and miss band now a days. They DO have good songs (including This Means War), and they have the potential... But they'd rather piss that potential away for the mainstream sellers.
Metal Robot Reviews completely agree, i would consider myself a fan of nickleback but I'm in no way blind to their shortcomings. Search on youtube or spotify for the songs "because of you" and "flat on the floor" and you get an idea of what could have been if nickleback put in more effort.
I don't have a real opinion on A7X's song, but I can probably say this: Nickelback - this means war > DROP THERAPY - this means war. Looking back at the song, I wish I had done more to improve it.
While A7X are on average way better than Nickelback, I'd argue no. Their This Means War is quite similar to Sad But True. Nickelback's This Means War is the one song where they go full aggro. And they didn't do it badly.
+Demon Rantz Agreed. The Long Road is actually pretty good. "Flat on the Floor", "Do This Anymore", "Someday", "Feeling Way Too Damn Good", and "Because of You" being my personal favorites of the band.
Apart from This Means War, majority of this album isn't that good... I literally slept through Lullaby. Not sure if that was the intent. While I don't hate Nickelback, majority of their songs aren't all that interesting to me.
+Kazuto Kirigaya I agree, I'm usually indifferent towards the band, never really cared much for their music, I will admit there were a few standouts and I think that they could do better.
So let me see if I got this right, all you need is 2 good songs & then just phone in the rest. & that's how you become a platinum seller! Unless you're Taylor Swift, then all you need is 1 break up song repeated 11 times.
Tim Mackie Well, Buckcherry practically invented that style with song Lit Up and that hilarious verse "I love the cocaine, love the cocaine", that most people can't remember, even though it was a big hit back in '99 I think
Well, that why I've always said that Chad is an evil genius, if you analyze his lyrics for example, you'll see that these lyrics were carefully written to appeal to broadest demographic possible, and he knew exactly how far he can go and what he should do with them, and some of these are stupid on purpose, even satirical like Rockstar. What he did is he combined the worst ingredients of grunge and hair metal, and he sold it to the masses and became overnight success, and you have to give props to him because, as opposed to other formulaic acts of previous decades went into writing process like "Let's write some shit and if it works, cool". He knew exactly what would work for him from day one and invented the formula himself. Even the best musicians weren't able to sell out like this. I hope this helped (I'm kinda bored btw, I think that explains long sentences)
I've never listened to Nickelback before. I've noticed the viral hate they've received and maybe that's why i never payed any attention to them. But i'm willing to at least give them a try now. Is there any other album than this i should check out?
In order from better to weaker albums ( in my humble opinion of course): The State, The Long Road, Feed the Machine, All the Right Reasons, Silver Side Up, Curb, Here and Now, Dark Horse, and No Fixed Address
This Means War: 5/5 Bottoms Up: 5/5 When We Stand Together: 5/5 Midnight Queen: 4/5 Gotta Get Me Some: 2/5 Lullaby: 5/5 Kiss it Goodbye: 5/5 Trying Not to Love You: 4/5 Holding on to Heaven: 1/5 Everything I Wanna Do: 5/5 Don't Let it Ever End: 5/5 Album rating: 9/10
Personally, I don't hate the band, either. But I think they're too lazy with their music. Sure, while there were a few songs that I liked in the past, "This Means War" (even if it's not as good as the Avenged Sevenfold song of the same name) included, majority of the album is just more of the same, and it's boring. Songs like "Lullaby" and "When We Stand Together" being absolute snooze-fests, since they don't really push the envelope nor as mockingly bad as "Photograph", "If Everyone Cared", or "Rockstar". I just didn't like this album, because it doesn't offers me something worthwhile or interesting. It's just forgettable.
+Michael Prymula That's good, but I still didn't like the song. While I'm glad that a song like this stopped people from killing themselves, I still wanted more of that energetic Hard Rock Grunge feel that Curb, The State, and The Long Road has offered in the past.
Aiko Yumi Honestly I find the band 3 Doors Down the worst! Give Nickelback the benefit of the doubt, at least they DO have potential & can write a good song, hell even their crappy ones have some kind of "so bad it's good" charm or at least give us something to talk about! 3DD in my perspective is a bland mediocre & VERY generic band that should've never got any attention. I find bands that offer nothing worse than bands that are stupid or formulaic. But that's me! 😜

What's with intire Silver Side Up hate? It's their identity as a band
Here and now is my second favorite album. We can agree on this means war. I do think this album has other great songs on it though. Trying not to love you is a really touching love song. And don't ever let it end tells a really beautiful story.
what are your thoughts on starught hard rock bands such as Santa Cruz The Wild Even Collective souls (2015 album) Airbourne etc Think you should atleast look at these types of bands, especially Santa cruz - modern day version of Bon Jovi but better
1:32 To be fair, if Feed the Machine is an indicator, they FINALLY are going back to their roots. Hopefully it's not the same as what This Means War is, a switchup
my friend bought this album when it first came out and we listened to it in the car and I said to him 'man I bet you wish you had your nickels back' that was a terrible joke but hey its true lol
The greatest thing about Nickelback is that you know what to expect from them. Nickelback fans will never have to be "Extreme'd". There 's a song for every mood.
could you review the atrocity that was boston's "Corporate America" and "Life Love and Hope" albums, they are my favorite band but i can't defend these two.
I still occasionally listen to some of their songs. Feed the Machine hits me, okay? That said, I am under no illusion that their music isn't artificial as fuck. And that makes me sad. Because I want to be a fan, but I can't.
Because it's just middle of the road vanilla garbage while Suicid Silence was dissapointing. Probably a good idea to take these ratings relative to the bands other material.
Even though I don't donate, Mainly because I have virtually no money, I hope someone donates and asks you for a review on Lifehouse's first album, No Name Face. It may not be Hardcore rock, but many of the songs are gritty and good to listen to. And no, it doesn't sound like current softer Lifehouse.
Pre-emptive: by far, this is my favorite Nickelback CD, and the songs on it were epic live. Yes live. I went to see them. And I paid $100. For front row. Come at me, bro :o) (Ok, it was the girl i was nailing, but I still loved the CD)
Nickelback released a new song ~2 weeks ago and it's actually okay and a little less formulaic. Nothing special, but it's no Photograph for sure. Still don't like them tho
thats also not their worst yes. i listened to all of them, trust me. listened to nothing else then nickelback for a whole week. my report is here: www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1037591&listid=168262
You know what is the most annoying thing to me about Nickleback? is that there are so many other great Canadian bands that get ignored in favour of just throwing whatever new nickleback song there is to fill the Canadian content time, its awful. If you are looking for some high quality stuff coming out of Canada right now check out the bands Big|Brave, Fat as Fuck, Fresh Snow, ¡FLIST!, July Talk. just to name a few
Here and now Nickelback will NEVER be as good as CREED (band) is. As reviewer says: "They can do better but they won't' .... so don't waste your nickels here and now. They'll rock when commercial radio forgets them. If people care then and how.
I haven't heard this album since the day I reviewed it back in 2011.
Do you miss it?
Not one bit.
Despite the album was okay, I personally loved Lullaby and This Means War.
I like these guys, they're music is awesome
Lol
This Means War sounds like an above average FFDP song.
Look, the thing about Nickelderp is that; for me personally; they are a hit and miss band now a days. They DO have good songs (including This Means War), and they have the potential... But they'd rather piss that potential away for the mainstream sellers.

Avenged Sevenfold "This Means War" > Nickelback "This Means War"
I thought the song was alright, though.
A7X sounds like they were copying Sad but True in that song.
I don't have a real opinion on A7X's song, but I can probably say this:
Nickelback - this means war > DROP THERAPY - this means war. Looking back at the song, I wish I had done more to improve it.
Do you meant Avenged Sevenfold "Sad But True?"
While A7X are on average way better than Nickelback, I'd argue no. Their This Means War is quite similar to Sad But True. Nickelback's This Means War is the one song where they go full aggro. And they didn't do it badly.
AC/DC's 'This Means War' >>>>>>> shit >>>>>>> every other song with that title.
I hope you review The Long Road it's probably their best album.
+Demon Rantz
Agreed. The Long Road is actually pretty good.
"Flat on the Floor", "Do This Anymore", "Someday", "Feeling Way Too Damn Good", and "Because of You" being my personal favorites of the band.
Demon Rantz The Long Road was awesome. deffo my favourite effort from them.
I loved 'See You at the Show' as well because it's an ultimate concert song.
Personally, I enjoy Dark Horse the most
The long road and the state where both awesome but it's like they just piss away the rest of the talent I own those two albums n love them
Apart from This Means War, majority of this album isn't that good...
I love When We Stand Together. It's a better written version of If Everyone Cared.
So let me see if I got this right, all you need is 2 good songs & then just phone in the rest. & that's how you become a platinum seller!
Unless you're Taylor Swift, then all you need is 1 break up song repeated 11 times.
Add in some lyrics based around sex and booze, and you have Hinder's discography in a nutshell.
Hello!Nurd And that is how most of the '80s glam metal albums were made
Aiko Yumi Hinder, or Buckcherry?
Tim Mackie Well, Buckcherry practically invented that style with song Lit Up and that hilarious verse "I love the cocaine, love the cocaine", that most people can't remember, even though it was a big hit back in '99 I think

Lie Likes Music The State
All the right reasons
In order from better to weaker albums ( in my humble opinion of course):
The State, The Long Road, Feed the Machine, All the Right Reasons, Silver Side Up, Curb, Here and Now, Dark Horse, and No Fixed Address
It's weird how both Creed and Nickleback are part of the triforce of suckage and both have songs called Lullaby.
Jordan Gallaher waiting for Limp Bizkit to make a song called Lullaby now
Jordan Gallaher Creed's Lullaby is a lot better imo.
Except one was weird and one was a helping hand to those in need. Nickelback's was better in my opinion
"This Means War"?
Kinda reminds me of something......
A7X, baby.
30STM, baby
thatheavy fan_ That's "This is war" by 30STM.
Nice try.
This Means War- AC/DC
Blow Up Your Video :)
That shitty rom-com spy movie by McG?
I love Nickelback idc what the haters say
This Means War: 5/5
Bottoms Up: 5/5
When We Stand Together: 5/5
Midnight Queen: 4/5
Gotta Get Me Some: 2/5
Lullaby: 5/5
Kiss it Goodbye: 5/5
Trying Not to Love You: 4/5
Holding on to Heaven: 1/5
Everything I Wanna Do: 5/5
Don't Let it Ever End: 5/5

'lullaby' sounds like it should be playing at the end of a teen drama when the two shallow leads finally kiss
Kiss it goodbye is a badass rock and roll song!! You kidding???? this is the TYPE of song that is a rock hit!!!!
This looks like it would fit better with Danzig.
4:40. What's the other good song?
what are your thoughts on starught hard rock bands such as
Santa Cruz
The Wild
Even Collective souls (2015 album)
Airbourne etc
Think you should atleast look at these types of bands, especially Santa cruz - modern day version of Bon Jovi but better
Why on Earth do the vocals on "Kiss It Goodbye" make me think of an English-language version of Rammstein?
1:32

0:57 in canada theres too many pharrell williams
"But all we serve are empty words, that always taste the same" this line basically describes 80% of there discography
The greatest thing about Nickelback is that you know what to expect from them. Nickelback fans will never have to be "Extreme'd". There 's a song for every mood.
Rocked reviews a Nickelback album, why yes please :D
Not sure if this was an album review or a short "Regretting the Past" that got mixed up.
could you review the atrocity that was boston's "Corporate America" and "Life Love and Hope" albums, they are my favorite band but i can't defend these two.
Regretting the future
skräp Mat How would that work?
Shmergul Flargamish Albums released from 2017-onward
I still occasionally listen to some of their songs.
Feed the Machine hits me, okay?
That said, I am under no illusion that their music isn't artificial as fuck.
And that makes me sad. Because I want to be a fan, but I can't.
And I never even heard of Nickelback.
Well, Nickelback was never featured in Grand Theft Auto. I wonder why...
+Rosie Andrews Well, you can't expect every artist to be on Rockstar's playlist.
0:27 is the GASTOWN clock that was totally made up in 1977 IS NOT A HISTORIC CLOCK
since you said you actually liked some of Nickelback past works, i was wondering ¿whats your favorite single/album?
so.... is Chris Pratt in this band or am I going crazy?
why Isn't this a rtp
Ikr he reviewed Silver Side Up which is way better than this one.
how did this get a better rating than suicide silence
Because it's just middle of the road vanilla garbage while Suicid Silence was dissapointing. Probably a good idea to take these ratings relative to the bands other material.
You know, Here and now is avarage by Nickelback standards and Suicide Silence is underwhelming for Suicide Silence standards.
ESolo Jams cause their new album is ass
ESolo Jams Does it matter? Both bands are ass.
Because with Nickelback you know what to expect from them but Suicide Silence went rock bottom. Also Nickelback > Suicide Silence in my opinion.
please review Gojira (magma).
Review feed the machine when it comes out. I honestly have hope for it.
Nickelback could make the best album of 2017 just imagine that...

Yes live. I went to see them.
And I paid $100.
For front row.
Come at me, bro :o)
(Ok, it was the girl i was nailing, but I still loved the CD)
Haha that is cool xD Did you get with her?
WHAT? Unholy Trinity video??? *clicks link*
ok this album is not really good but I still don't get how u do to like last skillet album
Now I kinda wanna be a Patron just to request Slint's Spiderland.
Nickelback released a new song ~2 weeks ago and it's actually okay and a little less formulaic. Nothing special, but it's no Photograph for sure. Still don't like them tho
Yeah I enjoy them and even I think Photograph sucks
please review another tool album
this is the best nickelback album by a longshot 3/5
thats also not their worst yes. i listened to all of them, trust me.
listened to nothing else then nickelback for a whole week. my report is
here:
www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1037591&listid=168262
I'd say that diehard Nickelback fans are like teenage girls who like Starbucks; they will go insane without their pumpkin spice latte.
An Lullaby is a really good song
New series idea, a panel of music reviewers, or reviewer's in general put 2 terrible/ awesome songs and debate which one holds up better.
i think all these people asking to review nickelback means that they actually, like their albums.
Kiss it Goodbye sounds like an attempt to sound like Shinedown
An overly processed and half-assed version of Shinedown
Brent Bowman oh Jesus this comment couldn’t be more wrong LMAO
Do Hardwired
That was a while ago homie.
The worst nickelback song ever is without a doubt Something in your mouth. For that song alone I wanna see you do a regretting the past on Dark Horse.
Austyn weezy I actually think SEX is a decent hard rock song.
I honestly thought "Photograph" was the worst one.
S.E.X actually isn't bad despite the lyrics.
She Keeps Me Up is the WORST
saloukamirer Is it awful that I like Dark Horse?
I actually think This Means War is their best song
You know Linkin Park fucked up when Nickelback released a heavier single
You know what is the most annoying thing to me about Nickleback? is that there are so many other great Canadian bands that get ignored in favour of just throwing whatever new nickleback song there is to fill the Canadian content time, its awful. If you are looking for some high quality stuff coming out of Canada right now check out the bands Big|Brave, Fat as Fuck, Fresh Snow, ¡FLIST!, July Talk. just to name a few
Wow
please do a regretting the past I love it when nickleback gets roasted by you 😂😂😂😂😂🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He's reviewing Dark Horse.
Demon Rantz thank God
This one deserved a regretting the past
Filip Nikolic Lmao, at least this is listenable. Bad. But listenable.
Filip Nikolic Everyone has it's guilty pleasure when it comes to nickelback, mine is edge of a revolution.
i think Boston - Corporate America and Boston - Life Love and Hope deserve a regretting the past.
Bruh I rather listen to dark horse over here and now dark horse grew on me
Here and now Nickelback will NEVER be as good as CREED (band) is.
As reviewer says: "They can do better but they won't' .... so don't waste your nickels here and now. They'll rock when commercial radio forgets them. If people care then and how.
I know a 5 is failing grade, but this is a 4 for me
I hope nickelback doesn't show up in my recommendations
Dont like it fine. But hate for a band i Will never understand
This Means War and Feed The Machine are the only good songs on this album.
Daniel Walters feed the machine is new bro
How do you know I haven't heard the rest of the album?
you will regret that
Honestly
Chad Kroger < Fred Durst
that first song sucks too
Surprised this wasn't a Regretting the Past.
Also first.
SoLDMG dark horse should be the next rtp
He should've done a review like this on The Long Road instead. It's actually a decent album with some killer tracks on it.
