Nice including shots from Biotopia for the intro! It's good reminder nature may look different than what we see in aquariums. Also the tank is shaping up nicely.
I really like this direction. Its really interesting to try and introduce more authentic natural environments to the aquarium. More of these types of videos would be great. I also liked it when you visited the biologist too.
It looks great 😍 I am by no means a professional TH-camr like you, but can I make a suggestion? Almost every week you post new build videos, but we don’t really get to enjoy the tanks after you build them because you don’t show them much, could you instead start doing fish room tours like every other week? Maybe show half of your tanks one week and the other half the next week? So then 2 videos every month would just be letting us enjoy your tanks! Think of all the money you would save also, because you would be doing new tank builds only 2-3 times a month instead of uploading tank builds every week. You have pretty cool tanks so I would think that fish room tour videos would still attract just as many people, but maybe not?
I really like those rocks, seriously look like river rocks that have had rocks, sand and boulders running over them for so long they've been shaped by all that. Carved out and worn smooth. Glad the wood is not very chunky as well. Thismis going to be amazing 🎉
This already looks amazing! I was sad to see the old scape broken down but honestly I have left my scapes in place for 2 years and am wanting a change. This can be my inspiration! Though on a much smaller scale! ❤ thank you MD for all you do to inspire and entertain us!
Just exactly what I needed , thank MD💚 Having some kind of a adjustable platform for maintenances / rescape #3 would make your life easier. There's a dozen different versions in my head , DIY combined with a pair of twin step ladders, a few wide heavy duty planks ...
i think its awesome u setup the tank fresh and new . new tank, more fun setting it up + more content for us .... thats a win win situation in my books ;) much love
I recently started an Amazon tank that’s strikingly similar to this (so far). Heavily planted will be great especially if it’s plants native to the regions like swords, S. Repens, etc.. can’t wait for the next ep:)
Fantastic work again MD. I reckon a couple of trestles and a youngman board would be something to consider for scaping your 8ft, or any other big tanks.
Loving the look so far. Have you ever thought of using a mirror or a camera with a monitor to view the tank without having to go up and down on the ladder?
An Amazon biotope is probably the best tank style for you MD! Considering the Amazon is one of (or at least was) the most foliage dense places on Earth! I honestly can’t believe people are telling you to dial back on the plants!! Unbelievable!! -from someone studying ecology
Then you should know that most of the actual Amazon rivers (Rio Amazonas, Rio Negro, Rio Madeira, etc and their tributaries) are not very densely planted. Rivers in Mato Grosso and the Pantanal are. MD should better have called it the Pantanal tank, like from the footage he showed.
One of my neons has that white tail thing going on. We call him Cottontail. I think it's a fungal infection. It looks like he got in a fight some time ago and lost a chunk of his tail, then over time the white fuzzy growth appeared. It got so bad recently that I could see him vibrating his tail to get rid of it - I caught him and gently rubbed it off his tail. He went back in the water and has been fine. The growth is coming back though, so I might have to take him out and put him in some medicated water for a bit.
Where do you get your driftwood? I really enjoy natural aquascapes like those but I cant seem to find driftwood of that quality around me. Im in US BTW. Is there any online shops that offer really nice driftwood?? W aquascape though
@@Bam-Bam1not so much. It was just done in my opinion. Trimming it back to the same height. Something fresh. Keeps it interesting for me and for you guys then.
You should move the 4 light setup where the 2 inside lights are in an "X" pattern. The right light is angled 35-45 degrees to the left and vise versa. That would skip the bracing shadow and give you some other cool shadows once plants are in
you don't require spot lights to create ripples... you just need the light source to have a certain concentration. This can be achieved with very cheap LED aquarium lights, early LED setups had LED's spaced with lenses. Now we are so cheap we don't see that on the bulk of LED setups. I would say there is an equation with space between light sources must be greater than the space between the sources and the water surface to create shimmer. So bringing lights closer to the water level allows you to bring them closer together to create the effect. This is assuming you have adequate agitation of the surface. Reef supply places have the best options for nozzles, experiment till you get what you like.
Odd request MD any chance of a short or a bit of a longer video of the hoplo you have in the tank on the rack with the tetras please? I think it may be a lepthoplosternum which are a little uncommon it’s bugging my because I can’t see it clearly in the video 😅
I hope you left that tunnel open enough for the fish to swim through, sometimes it appears on the video that the cave or tunnels get planted so heavily that nothing can get by them w/o getting caught up in plants.😊 , I realize that it could just be the point of view of the camera.

that bowl is bit odd , i know u r busy with tons of other stuff , but placing it in the frame is odd , since it was dull and cant see anything , but as always a lot learned and enjoyed it
Food for thought, Why not put all the cichlids and tetra's in instead of Angel's? it will be lot more interactive and your wife loves the Cichlids anyways, Win Win Situation I would say.

I love that shimmer effect at 02:30
Four hundred quid for lights, nothing for a safe step ladder. 😁
Priorities 😂😂
@@MDFishTanks You need a rolling library ladder for working on that tank.

That triceratops skull driftwood is pretty neat! ❤
Very nice mate, this has a real epic vibe 😊, bring on the planting 🎉
Fantastic, can't wait to get home after work to watch this 😊

Well it was nice to see the hardscape briefly before planting.
Good afternoon MD really love what you are doing keep up the amazing work thank you

super sick, I am really enjoying this series!
Wouldn’t it be cool to see @MD doing some scuba diving in the Amazon river?
Sempre acompanho seus vídeo daqui do Brazil!
Great video
i think this round, the 8ft will be epic 😎
I like this shorter series 👍🏼
another banging tank!
It looks SO prehistoric
Rotala bonsai looks good at mid ground and also front
a new ladder is a priority!!!

What kind of Tetras are in the tank? I especially wondered what Tetra the kinda sheer greenish ones are

What kind of driftwood did you put in there? Just curious.
Treat the little tetra with Melafix and he should be fine :)

Gonna look epic, I don't think I like poisoning of the triceratops though. But I'm sure will end up looking good
You should have made a snake body with rocks with the triceratops head! 🐲
Why don't you have any goldfish, I'm curious?

I have a question, can the canister lights go on a rimmed tank?
THERE...ARE...FOUR...LIGHTS!!! But I think the three lights looked better
Cant wait too see that tank totally overplanted 😂😂😂
nice
I have the same problem with the light and the tank brace.
Got a new ladder yet?😅
Are you going to put the hoplo cats in this tank, they would be perfect here
I hope you left that tunnel open enough for the fish to swim through, sometimes it appears on the video that the cave or tunnels get planted so heavily that nothing can get by them w/o getting caught up in plants.😊 , I realize that it could just be the point of view of the camera.
The trick to hardscaping is having good hardscape.
By "its time to break down the tank", do you mean it was time to clean it? Are you able to maintain and sustain a tank for longer than 6 to 12 weeks?
@@kontemplatemusic2189 this tank was six months old and in perfect health. Just fancied a change 😊
That would be a very nice parachromis community tank 😂
Dya got an established Barb tank MD ?
yep 😊
I am quite sure the footage at the beginning of the video is simply from Fish Shop Matt’s backyard
